Part One of Multi-Part series

On January 24, 2023, in Duxbury, Massachusetts, labor-and-delivery nurse Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan—then jumped from a second-story window. She survived, paralyzed. Her husband, Patrick, came home from errands she had sent him on and found the house silent. Clancy has never denied killing her children.

The fight in court was over why. Her defense said she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis: delusions, a voice telling her she had no choice, and a mind so broken she could not form criminal intent. Prosecutors said the day was planned. She had taken the kids to the doctor, played with them in the snow, gotten her husband out of the house, and—they argued—knew exactly what she was doing. The 2026 trial in Plymouth lasted weeks. Patrick Clancy, who had once asked the public to see “the real Lindsay,” took the stand for the state. Jurors heard the 911 call, hospital statements, medication history, and dueling psychiatric experts. After seven days of deliberations they could not agree. Eleven jurors were prepared to find her not criminally responsible. One holdout, Michael Desronvil, said he had no doubt she acted deliberately. The judge declared a mistrial.

Content warning: This episode discusses the deaths of young children, suicide attempt, and severe mental illness. Listener discretion is strongly advised.

00:00:06.179 --> 00:00:09.099
Welcome to Unspeakable, a true crime podcast where I tell

2
00:00:09.140 --> 00:00:12.439
stories of real crimes with real victims, whose cases are

3
00:00:12.480 --> 00:00:15.119
so shocking that many are left wondering, how is this

4
00:00:15.179 --> 00:00:24.910
even real? I use my experiences in law enforcement, corrections,

5
00:00:25.309 --> 00:00:28.000
and combined with my years as a criminal justice educator,

6
00:00:28.160 --> 00:00:32.240
dig deep into complex cases of evil acts, some so evil,

7
00:00:32.600 --> 00:00:52.810
many feel they are unspeakable. Warning, Unspeakable is intended for

8
00:00:52.850 --> 00:00:55.850
mature audiences. If you are easily offended, then I'm not

9
00:00:55.890 --> 00:00:59.329
your girl. Listening discretion is advised. Hey y'all, KJ here

10
00:00:59.350 --> 00:01:01.619
back with another episode of Unspeakable. And if you are

11
00:01:01.700 --> 00:01:05.359
watching me podcast right now, gremlin alert, I lost all

12
00:01:05.400 --> 00:01:07.219
of my makeup. I don't know how I did that,

13
00:01:07.299 --> 00:01:11.340
but ADHD will prevail. And I lost my whole makeup bag.

14
00:01:11.379 --> 00:01:14.200
So here I am, guys. If you're watching me podcast,

15
00:01:14.260 --> 00:01:17.079
I'm waving at you. Sorry for the jump scare. But

16
00:01:17.099 --> 00:01:18.340
I got a couple of shout outs I need to

17
00:01:18.379 --> 00:01:20.000
do real quick. And I'm going to go right down

18
00:01:20.040 --> 00:01:23.000
the road to Hammond, Louisiana. And I've got Miss Tina

19
00:01:23.060 --> 00:01:26.379
Wagner hanging out in Hammond. What's going on, Tina? How

20
00:01:26.439 --> 00:01:28.540
are you doing over there? I actually have a lot

21
00:01:28.560 --> 00:01:32.200
of family in Hammond. And my daddy and everybody grew

22
00:01:32.280 --> 00:01:34.170
up in Hammond. So I bet we know some of

23
00:01:34.189 --> 00:01:36.609
the same people. And I just want to wave to

24
00:01:36.650 --> 00:01:38.030
you and tell you hello. And thank you so much

25
00:01:38.049 --> 00:01:40.030
for supporting me. And then I'm going to run a

26
00:01:40.109 --> 00:01:45.109
couple states over to Alabama. Jasper, Alabama to be exact.

27
00:01:45.129 --> 00:01:47.989
And that's where Miss Sherry Setter is hanging out and

28
00:01:48.010 --> 00:01:50.689
she's living and living her best life. So what's going on,

29
00:01:51.090 --> 00:01:53.010
Miss Sherry? I hope that you're having the time of

30
00:01:53.030 --> 00:01:55.170
your life this week. I know it's I'm recording this

31
00:01:55.230 --> 00:01:58.790
on a Friday. And it's time y'all it's time for

32
00:01:58.890 --> 00:02:01.810
LSU football Ole Miss. It's tomorrow from the time that

33
00:02:01.920 --> 00:02:04.560
I'm recording this and I cannot wait. I'm so excited.

34
00:02:05.670 --> 00:02:07.549
but I have to listen to the people. And when

35
00:02:07.590 --> 00:02:10.680
y'all reach out to me and y'all send me 4,000

36
00:02:10.680 --> 00:02:14.939
emails about Lindsay Clancy, I've got to listen to what

37
00:02:14.979 --> 00:02:17.560
you say. So it's time, guys. It's time for me

38
00:02:17.580 --> 00:02:22.280
to tackle this monstrosity of a case. And so I

39
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:24.240
will start out by telling you that this is going

40
00:02:24.259 --> 00:02:28.009
to be multiple parts. If you've followed this case, you'll

41
00:02:28.050 --> 00:02:30.990
know why and you will understand. If you haven't followed

42
00:02:31.009 --> 00:02:34.050
this case and you don't like multiple parters, got to

43
00:02:34.090 --> 00:02:36.099
do it this way. If I'm going to tell a story,

44
00:02:36.120 --> 00:02:38.860
I'm going to do it the whole, the whole way through. Okay.

45
00:02:38.900 --> 00:02:41.219
So get ready. You have got your little series on

46
00:02:41.250 --> 00:02:45.979
your hands here. And, um, I want you to take

47
00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:47.840
the viewpoint that I'm going to take as I tell

48
00:02:47.879 --> 00:02:50.680
the first episode. So I'm going to start with kind

49
00:02:50.699 --> 00:02:53.539
of like how it unfolded and how it was like

50
00:02:53.639 --> 00:02:57.370
initially reported to police and then broken wide open. So

51
00:02:57.389 --> 00:02:59.610
if you think you know my angle, you probably don't.

52
00:02:59.949 --> 00:03:02.469
Maybe you do. But that's kind of how I'm going

53
00:03:02.490 --> 00:03:06.250
to approach this case. So come with me. It is time.

54
00:03:06.289 --> 00:03:09.800
And we're going to head on to Plymouth. Massachusetts. Now, Plymouth,

55
00:03:09.840 --> 00:03:12.340
if you've never been there, is a coastal town. It's

56
00:03:12.379 --> 00:03:15.620
south of Boston. And something I really like about that

57
00:03:15.710 --> 00:03:19.610
area is that it holds incredible historic value. Because if

58
00:03:19.650 --> 00:03:24.750
you've paid attention to any history lesson ever, you've heard

59
00:03:24.770 --> 00:03:27.310
about Plymouth. And of course, that's the site of the

60
00:03:27.370 --> 00:03:31.770
first pilgrim settlement. And the famous Plymouth Rock is supposedly

61
00:03:31.810 --> 00:03:34.550
the spot that marks where settlers are believed to have

62
00:03:34.569 --> 00:03:38.479
come ashore aboard the Mayflower. And that was back... way

63
00:03:38.520 --> 00:03:42.319
back on December the 16th of 1620. But you got

64
00:03:42.340 --> 00:03:44.280
to think about those people and everything that they went

65
00:03:44.319 --> 00:03:47.259
through to compare it to where we are today, because

66
00:03:47.300 --> 00:03:51.780
that was an incredibly harsh journey. And that would result

67
00:03:51.819 --> 00:03:56.250
in the survival of only 52 people in that first year,

68
00:03:56.330 --> 00:03:58.250
which I don't know, I really just I think about

69
00:03:58.270 --> 00:04:01.810
that and how grave of a situation that they were

70
00:04:01.990 --> 00:04:04.180
in And it's amazing, like I said, to see how

71
00:04:04.199 --> 00:04:07.860
far we have come from such humble beginnings. But we

72
00:04:07.879 --> 00:04:12.560
fast forward like 400-something years and just, wow, man, look around.

73
00:04:13.120 --> 00:04:16.899
Look at what we've got going on, not only in Massachusetts,

74
00:04:16.920 --> 00:04:18.660
but in this country. And it's all thanks to those

75
00:04:18.720 --> 00:04:23.800
brave pilgrims who set out to change lives. And so Massachusetts,

76
00:04:23.819 --> 00:04:27.220
it's certainly much different now. And yet it's still making

77
00:04:27.279 --> 00:04:30.279
headlines for those who choose to settle there. But in

78
00:04:30.319 --> 00:04:33.149
more current times— And of course, in this case, I'm

79
00:04:33.209 --> 00:04:37.579
talking about those settlers, Patrick and Lindsay Clancy. But let's

80
00:04:37.639 --> 00:04:41.149
back up. And let's start from the beginning, and I

81
00:04:41.209 --> 00:04:46.649
don't mean the 1600s, okay? I simply mean in regards

82
00:04:46.670 --> 00:04:48.389
to this case, because I just, I don't have the

83
00:04:48.430 --> 00:04:51.120
time to go back to the 1600s. But this one's

84
00:04:51.129 --> 00:04:55.339
going to start with the birth of Lindsay Marie Musgrove,

85
00:04:55.459 --> 00:04:59.180
and that was on August 11th of 1990. Now, parents

86
00:04:59.279 --> 00:05:02.000
Michael and Paula, they were over the moon at the

87
00:05:02.120 --> 00:05:04.860
sight of their precious baby girl, and when it was

88
00:05:04.899 --> 00:05:07.620
all said and done, they would have two girls. But

89
00:05:07.670 --> 00:05:10.949
Lindsay and her sister Allison would grow up in a

90
00:05:11.189 --> 00:05:16.069
wonderful home, full of love, full of support. The neighbors

91
00:05:16.209 --> 00:05:20.199
and friends alike all agreed that the Musgroves were good people,

92
00:05:20.480 --> 00:05:24.560
regular middle-class folks who worked hard and who loved their

93
00:05:24.600 --> 00:05:28.819
kids fiercely. The neighborhood that they chose to raise their

94
00:05:28.860 --> 00:05:32.139
girls in was also an idyllic one, one that we

95
00:05:32.220 --> 00:05:35.939
probably all think back on, to be honest, no matter

96
00:05:36.500 --> 00:05:40.069
what your situation was, you know, growing up. I don't

97
00:05:40.129 --> 00:05:42.000
think sometimes if we were poor, we didn't know it.

98
00:05:42.069 --> 00:05:44.509
And I say that with all the humbleness in my heart,

99
00:05:45.250 --> 00:05:48.740
because I didn't know that we weren't rich growing up.

100
00:05:48.810 --> 00:05:50.709
I thought we had everything we were supposed to have.

101
00:05:50.750 --> 00:05:53.430
And These people were much the same. They had a

102
00:05:53.490 --> 00:05:57.589
modest 1,800-square-foot home with good bones, and they would make

103
00:05:57.750 --> 00:06:01.769
great memories within those walls. And it's no wonder that

104
00:06:01.790 --> 00:06:07.290
their daughters excelled in life because they were proud products

105
00:06:07.509 --> 00:06:10.410
of a bloodline where their papa, Ernest, was a World

106
00:06:10.430 --> 00:06:15.189
War II veteran. And a bloodline... Like that is one

107
00:06:15.209 --> 00:06:19.639
that's going to teach perseverance and work ethic and the

108
00:06:19.800 --> 00:06:22.759
idea that you do not have to be financially rich

109
00:06:22.860 --> 00:06:26.420
in life so much as rich in family. And it

110
00:06:26.459 --> 00:06:28.769
takes time to learn that when you're young, but as

111
00:06:28.790 --> 00:06:31.589
you grow up, you can really appreciate when those values

112
00:06:31.629 --> 00:06:34.759
are what are instilled in you. And a family was

113
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:39.240
something that Lindsay always dreamed of having one day. In

114
00:06:39.319 --> 00:06:43.079
high school, she was considered a friendly teen who classmates

115
00:06:43.120 --> 00:06:47.779
saw as outgoing and upbeat, more on the, I would say,

116
00:06:47.860 --> 00:06:52.029
kind of modest, calm side. based on things that I read,

117
00:06:52.089 --> 00:06:54.930
but she was your average girl at Lyman High School.

118
00:06:55.329 --> 00:06:58.839
She had cheerleading and healthcare that stood out as her

119
00:06:59.279 --> 00:07:03.660
biggest interests, and gymnastics also took up a great deal

120
00:07:03.779 --> 00:07:06.730
of her time in those days. So the neighbors would

121
00:07:06.759 --> 00:07:09.430
look out, and they would often see her tumbling in

122
00:07:09.449 --> 00:07:12.189
the front yard, riding bikes with the other kids in

123
00:07:12.209 --> 00:07:16.129
the neighborhood. They would play kickball in the yard. for fun,

124
00:07:16.709 --> 00:07:21.600
but competition, that was within her, okay? And she competed

125
00:07:21.689 --> 00:07:25.240
on a team with the CT Cheer and Dance Company,

126
00:07:25.819 --> 00:07:29.139
and she wasn't just a girly girl. This was a

127
00:07:29.259 --> 00:07:32.360
sport that took practice, and it really did take a

128
00:07:32.420 --> 00:07:35.779
lot of athletic ability to accomplish the things that she did.

129
00:07:36.300 --> 00:07:40.879
She also played volleyball. She took part in the Powderpuff

130
00:07:40.920 --> 00:07:43.939
football game her senior year. I know From my experience

131
00:07:43.980 --> 00:07:46.100
in high school and teaching these kids, they love that

132
00:07:46.139 --> 00:07:49.930
type of stuff. And she just, Lindsay liked competition regardless

133
00:07:50.290 --> 00:07:52.810
of the type or where it was taking place. And

134
00:07:52.829 --> 00:07:56.449
her grades were equally as important to her. She was

135
00:07:56.550 --> 00:07:59.110
an honor student. She was a member of the National

136
00:07:59.170 --> 00:08:03.879
Honor Society. And really leaning into her interest in healthcare,

137
00:08:04.339 --> 00:08:08.319
she would also join her school's HOSA chapter. That's H-O-S-A.

138
00:08:08.339 --> 00:08:11.459
And that's an organization for those who are hoping to

139
00:08:11.519 --> 00:08:15.519
make a career in in healthcare as they graduate high

140
00:08:15.540 --> 00:08:18.279
school and they move on. So she would get to,

141
00:08:18.339 --> 00:08:20.540
as part of that group, she would get to travel

142
00:08:20.860 --> 00:08:23.459
and she would get clinical hours at a local nursing

143
00:08:23.500 --> 00:08:26.879
home as part of the curriculum in their chapter. And

144
00:08:26.939 --> 00:08:29.120
she just loved this. She thought it was great and

145
00:08:29.170 --> 00:08:33.549
she ate up the opportunity and the adventure in the

146
00:08:33.570 --> 00:08:36.769
healthcare world. So upon graduation from high school, that was

147
00:08:36.789 --> 00:08:42.250
in 2008, Lindsay decided to fully pursue her interests in medicine.

148
00:08:42.610 --> 00:08:44.980
And this was specifically going to be in the field

149
00:08:45.389 --> 00:08:50.039
of nursing. So she enrolled in college at, and I

150
00:08:50.100 --> 00:08:54.000
read this as Quinnipiac University in Hamden. I've heard it

151
00:08:54.039 --> 00:08:56.820
pronounced another way, but forgive my ignorance if I didn't

152
00:08:56.860 --> 00:08:59.399
say that correctly. But that is where she went to school.

153
00:08:59.980 --> 00:09:03.409
And during her sophomore year, The college did something kind

154
00:09:03.429 --> 00:09:08.750
of cool. They launched this varsity competitive cheer team and

155
00:09:08.850 --> 00:09:11.230
she joined it. And this was like a new thing there.

156
00:09:11.669 --> 00:09:15.110
She joined it and she worked really hard to compete

157
00:09:15.250 --> 00:09:19.259
with her squad. So she was busy. She was driven

158
00:09:19.580 --> 00:09:23.139
in all of her college activities. And one of her

159
00:09:23.820 --> 00:09:26.580
posts that were made, a teammate was bragging on her

160
00:09:26.700 --> 00:09:29.659
and the role that she played in the club, saying

161
00:09:29.679 --> 00:09:35.610
that Lindsay was selfless, attentive, thoughtful, and very much a

162
00:09:35.769 --> 00:09:40.730
trustworthy individual. And as you can guess, Lindsay did great.

163
00:09:41.409 --> 00:09:44.789
She would eventually graduate with a degree in biology, and

164
00:09:44.809 --> 00:09:48.289
that was in 2012, before she enrolled in a rigorous

165
00:09:49.169 --> 00:09:54.590
accelerated nursing program through the Massachusetts General Hospital. And I

166
00:09:54.629 --> 00:09:58.750
think that's just a testament to all of her upbringing

167
00:09:58.889 --> 00:10:03.259
and her young adultism. and that people really echoed the

168
00:10:03.399 --> 00:10:07.000
same things about her over and over and over again

169
00:10:07.320 --> 00:10:09.330
as far as that part of her life was concerned.

170
00:10:09.549 --> 00:10:13.190
And this made her parents so incredibly proud as she

171
00:10:13.269 --> 00:10:16.870
excelled in most everything that she put her mind to.

172
00:10:17.610 --> 00:10:21.009
And in just a few short more years, Lindsay earned

173
00:10:21.389 --> 00:10:25.299
her nursing degree from the MGH Institute of Health Professions

174
00:10:25.340 --> 00:10:29.039
in Boston and would land her dream job as a

175
00:10:29.139 --> 00:10:34.580
labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. Everything I

176
00:10:34.620 --> 00:10:36.519
tell you right now is pointing to the fact that

177
00:10:36.580 --> 00:10:39.299
her life was on track and that she was blazing

178
00:10:39.399 --> 00:10:42.919
a path for a successful future. So not only were

179
00:10:42.960 --> 00:10:46.120
things going right in terms of her education, but she

180
00:10:46.159 --> 00:10:49.090
had also met someone who had become very special to

181
00:10:49.139 --> 00:10:52.779
her in that time frame. Lindsay had a roommate when

182
00:10:52.799 --> 00:10:55.600
she was in college, and that roommate was meeting up

183
00:10:55.820 --> 00:10:58.190
with her cousin, and this was in May of 2013.

184
00:10:58.190 --> 00:11:00.649
They were going to go to Boston and meet up,

185
00:11:01.049 --> 00:11:04.690
and Lindsay was along for that outing. And this casual

186
00:11:04.750 --> 00:11:09.279
encounter would prove quite life-changing in this story because that

187
00:11:09.399 --> 00:11:14.919
cousin's name of her roommate was Patrick, the infamous Patrick Clancy,

188
00:11:14.940 --> 00:11:17.759
that we've all heard about in the news. And when

189
00:11:17.779 --> 00:11:21.870
the two of them met, they felt a little spark.

190
00:11:22.110 --> 00:11:24.870
Both of them did. They lay eyes on each other

191
00:11:24.889 --> 00:11:28.190
and they're like, hmm, this person's pretty interesting. So they

192
00:11:28.210 --> 00:11:32.710
would introduce themselves and one conversation led to another, which

193
00:11:32.789 --> 00:11:35.210
left the two of them wanting to get to know

194
00:11:35.250 --> 00:11:39.070
each other even more. And what Lindsay would learn about

195
00:11:39.129 --> 00:11:42.190
Patrick was that he was a pretty chill dude and

196
00:11:42.250 --> 00:11:45.419
he was really interested in In the tech world, he

197
00:11:45.450 --> 00:11:51.049
was a rather unassuming guy, not very large. He's not

198
00:11:51.090 --> 00:11:54.820
a big, big guy. He's soft-spoken, and he was on

199
00:11:54.840 --> 00:11:57.990
the calmer side of things. She learned that he had

200
00:11:58.110 --> 00:12:02.340
two sisters and he had a, I mean, just love

201
00:12:02.379 --> 00:12:06.200
affair with the world of sailing. He loved doing that

202
00:12:06.379 --> 00:12:08.659
out on the water. That was the place that he

203
00:12:08.740 --> 00:12:12.220
loved to be, the wind in his hair, the sun

204
00:12:12.259 --> 00:12:16.399
reflecting off of the water. Matter of fact, Patrick was

205
00:12:16.500 --> 00:12:20.070
such an avid sailor that he took every opportunity back

206
00:12:20.110 --> 00:12:23.210
in those early days to enjoy an outing. And as

207
00:12:23.250 --> 00:12:27.659
far as college went, He had attended South Virginia University,

208
00:12:27.720 --> 00:12:30.639
which is located about an hour and a half south

209
00:12:31.159 --> 00:12:36.039
of Newport, Rhode Island. And so those two sisters that

210
00:12:36.100 --> 00:12:38.899
I mentioned that he had, one of those sisters was

211
00:12:39.100 --> 00:12:43.129
hanging out with that cousin who I mentioned that originally

212
00:12:43.269 --> 00:12:45.330
introduced him to Lindsay. So you can kind of see

213
00:12:45.389 --> 00:12:49.049
how they were moving in these similar groups. So Patrick

214
00:12:49.149 --> 00:12:52.529
and Lindsay's dating life was a traditional one, you know,

215
00:12:52.549 --> 00:12:56.720
filled with ups and downs, but definite devotion to one another.

216
00:12:57.600 --> 00:13:01.399
He felt like Lindsay was different. He loved her. And

217
00:13:01.480 --> 00:13:05.750
they would date for two years before going to the

218
00:13:05.789 --> 00:13:08.450
next level, which for them was going to be moving

219
00:13:08.529 --> 00:13:13.059
in together. And this was in September of 2015. And

220
00:13:13.139 --> 00:13:16.240
on New Year's Eve of 2015, during all of the

221
00:13:16.320 --> 00:13:20.659
partying and the celebration, Patrick had a secret. And this

222
00:13:20.860 --> 00:13:22.919
is a true crime podcast, y'all, but this is not

223
00:13:22.960 --> 00:13:25.490
a bad secret. This is a good one. He had

224
00:13:25.519 --> 00:13:28.090
a diamond ring in his pocket, and he was waiting

225
00:13:28.129 --> 00:13:30.889
for the perfect moment when he got down on one

226
00:13:30.929 --> 00:13:34.169
knee and he asked those words that every girl dreams

227
00:13:34.529 --> 00:13:38.730
of hearing about one day. Will you marry me? And

228
00:13:38.789 --> 00:13:43.509
she was beyond excited. And of course, the answer was yes. Yes. Yes,

229
00:13:43.590 --> 00:13:45.990
I will marry you. You know, they spent the last

230
00:13:46.070 --> 00:13:50.009
two years dating. They loved one another. They hugged and

231
00:13:50.029 --> 00:13:53.470
they kissed with excitement. Both of them just smiling ear

232
00:13:53.690 --> 00:13:57.870
to ear with the wonder about what the future would

233
00:13:57.909 --> 00:14:00.549
hold for them as a married couple and husband and wife.

234
00:14:01.210 --> 00:14:06.370
Lindsay was also just tickled at the perfect round diamond

235
00:14:06.409 --> 00:14:09.639
that he had placed on her left hand. It was perfect.

236
00:14:10.100 --> 00:14:12.679
It was everything that she dreamed of. And the fireworks

237
00:14:12.720 --> 00:14:16.139
went off, the ball dropped, and it was now 2016,

238
00:14:16.139 --> 00:14:23.309
the year where two strangers would now become one. Lindsay

239
00:14:23.389 --> 00:14:26.830
was that blushing bride that, I say many of us

240
00:14:26.850 --> 00:14:28.509
because I'm a woman, you know, I went through this

241
00:14:28.549 --> 00:14:31.529
with my husband, and you're just so excited that someone

242
00:14:31.570 --> 00:14:33.299
loves you and wants to commit to you and that

243
00:14:33.320 --> 00:14:35.620
you're going to build that family. And so she went

244
00:14:35.679 --> 00:14:38.980
online and she made a registry and she wrote her

245
00:14:39.080 --> 00:14:42.220
version of their love story. And I found it. So

246
00:14:42.240 --> 00:14:44.259
I was going to read it to you exactly how

247
00:14:44.320 --> 00:14:47.360
she wrote it. And she said, it all started in

248
00:14:47.399 --> 00:14:51.159
the fine town of South Boston through his cousin and sister.

249
00:14:51.299 --> 00:14:54.820
Pat knew Lindsay was a special girl and only wanted

250
00:14:54.840 --> 00:14:58.000
to spend more time with her. Lindsay secretly had a

251
00:14:58.240 --> 00:15:01.580
big crush on Pat too. When Pat finally built up

252
00:15:01.620 --> 00:15:05.000
the courage, Our first date was at 75 on Liberty

253
00:15:05.330 --> 00:15:08.090
on the 3rd of July. It was 95 degrees, but

254
00:15:08.169 --> 00:15:11.429
we didn't care. We had so much fun and we

255
00:15:11.470 --> 00:15:16.549
have had fun ever since. On December 31st, 2015, Pat

256
00:15:16.590 --> 00:15:19.889
took Lindsay back to where it all started, 75 on Liberty.

257
00:15:20.309 --> 00:15:22.450
We had a great dinner. We went for a nice

258
00:15:22.529 --> 00:15:25.269
walk on that winter night. And then Pat got down

259
00:15:25.490 --> 00:15:29.830
on one knee to propose under the skyline in Boston's Seaport.

260
00:15:30.720 --> 00:15:35.980
We've enjoyed spending time together, mostly between Boston, Connecticut, and Newport.

261
00:15:36.519 --> 00:15:39.679
As beautiful as those areas are, we always look forward

262
00:15:39.730 --> 00:15:43.629
to seeing our friends and family more than anything. We

263
00:15:43.669 --> 00:15:46.549
can't wait to see them all together at our wedding.

264
00:15:47.049 --> 00:15:49.720
And there were pictures that were posted, and she was

265
00:15:49.820 --> 00:15:53.080
just in the moment. And in December of that year,

266
00:15:53.659 --> 00:15:56.710
The officiate would pronounce them man and wife, presenting them

267
00:15:56.789 --> 00:15:59.919
to the wedding goers for the first time as Mr.

268
00:16:00.080 --> 00:16:04.179
and Mrs. Patrick Clancy. So they settled into their home

269
00:16:04.759 --> 00:16:08.679
and within three months of that wedding, the Clancy party

270
00:16:08.779 --> 00:16:12.730
of two was announced to now be the Clancy party

271
00:16:12.909 --> 00:16:15.950
of three. It did not take them long to get

272
00:16:15.990 --> 00:16:18.929
to business and then to announce that a little one

273
00:16:18.970 --> 00:16:23.129
was on the way and the excitement when they realized

274
00:16:23.190 --> 00:16:26.389
that this was going to be a baby girl. It

275
00:16:26.450 --> 00:16:31.700
was perfect. Everything was perfect. Little Miss Cora Clancy would

276
00:16:31.759 --> 00:16:37.490
make her big entrance into the world on December 24th, 2017,

277
00:16:37.490 --> 00:16:41.769
Christmas Eve. And what a Christmas gift to be given.

278
00:16:41.830 --> 00:16:44.649
It was like something out of a movie, guys, to

279
00:16:44.750 --> 00:16:48.990
wake up on Christmas morning and be holding your little

280
00:16:49.250 --> 00:16:53.629
one-day-old baby girl. You couldn't write this any better. You

281
00:16:53.649 --> 00:16:57.740
couldn't make this up. It was perfection. This must have

282
00:16:57.799 --> 00:17:01.159
been how Mary felt, you know, gazing into the eyes

283
00:17:01.320 --> 00:17:06.240
of newborn Jesus. The whole world is in your hands,

284
00:17:07.299 --> 00:17:11.079
completely dependent on you. Although strangers yourselves, you don't know

285
00:17:11.119 --> 00:17:13.650
this baby. You just met her. You may have grown her,

286
00:17:14.180 --> 00:17:17.940
but this is it. It's new. Hello, little one. I'm

287
00:17:17.960 --> 00:17:21.670
your mommy. And this is your daddy. And for a moment,

288
00:17:21.730 --> 00:17:26.660
the world was perfect. But just hours before her birth

289
00:17:26.720 --> 00:17:29.059
and before they were in love holding this little girl,

290
00:17:29.380 --> 00:17:33.039
things had been quite less calm and much more intense

291
00:17:33.579 --> 00:17:37.319
than Christmas Day would remember or probably give credit for.

292
00:17:37.740 --> 00:17:41.509
Because when labor had begun and when it progressed, there

293
00:17:41.549 --> 00:17:45.250
was no time for an epidural. And so Lindsay would

294
00:17:45.329 --> 00:17:49.589
feel everything. Single labor pain. She would have to push

295
00:17:49.650 --> 00:17:52.670
with all of her might, yelling out at times in

296
00:17:52.730 --> 00:17:57.759
immense pain, her skin tearing in the most sensitive of areas.

297
00:17:57.960 --> 00:18:02.119
But she continued to push and she powered through unimaginable

298
00:18:02.180 --> 00:18:06.799
pain with nothing to quell it. And it's funny. How

299
00:18:06.900 --> 00:18:11.539
quickly we women forget the traumas of birth once that

300
00:18:11.599 --> 00:18:15.380
little face comes out and looks at ours because it's

301
00:18:15.519 --> 00:18:22.680
just all worth it. Every cry, every tear, every vomiting session,

302
00:18:22.829 --> 00:18:28.009
every stitch, every burning pain, all of it, every ounce

303
00:18:28.069 --> 00:18:32.490
of it. So incredibly worth it. And I can prove

304
00:18:32.509 --> 00:18:34.849
this to you because we continue to have more children

305
00:18:34.890 --> 00:18:40.740
despite how painful birth can be. When they brought baby

306
00:18:40.799 --> 00:18:44.420
Cora home, everyone showed up to look at her and

307
00:18:44.460 --> 00:18:47.880
give their unsolicited advice as most people do, but it

308
00:18:47.920 --> 00:18:53.529
was just pure magic. By this point, Lindsay had been

309
00:18:53.589 --> 00:18:56.470
working as a labor and delivery nurse for a few years,

310
00:18:56.549 --> 00:19:00.009
and she had seen so many women give birth. She

311
00:19:00.049 --> 00:19:03.450
had helped so many people make their own families. And

312
00:19:03.569 --> 00:19:06.259
now it was her turn to be home with her

313
00:19:06.319 --> 00:19:09.440
little one and soaking up all of the newness and

314
00:19:09.480 --> 00:19:13.339
the love and the smell of baby powder and milk

315
00:19:13.440 --> 00:19:17.420
breath and even the dirty diapers and the clean clothes

316
00:19:17.759 --> 00:19:20.779
and the warm blankets. There was a learning curve, as

317
00:19:20.859 --> 00:19:24.140
with any new first-time mom is going to encounter, but

318
00:19:24.420 --> 00:19:26.960
they worked it out and they got into a groove.

319
00:19:27.460 --> 00:19:31.509
And before she was even ready, her maternity leave was over.

320
00:19:32.349 --> 00:19:37.210
And Lindsay expressed that she was very apprehensive about returning

321
00:19:37.269 --> 00:19:39.369
to work in what seemed to be just such a

322
00:19:39.529 --> 00:19:43.799
quick turnaround. She wasn't ready yet. Her baby was still new.

323
00:19:44.359 --> 00:19:47.710
She needed her, and her baby needed her mommy, but

324
00:19:48.170 --> 00:19:49.930
it was just something that she was going to have.

325
00:19:50.200 --> 00:19:53.529
to do. All of us mothers, we have to make

326
00:19:53.950 --> 00:19:57.470
that transition and it is hard. You're, it's unnatural to

327
00:19:57.509 --> 00:19:59.910
want to just hand your baby over to someone else

328
00:19:59.970 --> 00:20:03.319
to watch them, but we do it. And Lindsay would

329
00:20:03.599 --> 00:20:06.339
Just the same. She would work through her anxiety. She

330
00:20:06.380 --> 00:20:09.240
would get back to work at that hospital in labor

331
00:20:09.619 --> 00:20:13.170
and delivery. And little Cora, as the days and the

332
00:20:13.230 --> 00:20:16.150
months are passing, she would grow. She would eventually come

333
00:20:16.170 --> 00:20:19.509
into her own little personality as two years would just

334
00:20:19.589 --> 00:20:23.069
pass in the blink of an eye. It's a funny

335
00:20:23.150 --> 00:20:27.359
thing to see how quickly those little babies with not

336
00:20:27.440 --> 00:20:31.910
much to them become their own little personalities. And Cora

337
00:20:31.950 --> 00:20:34.890
was a funny thing with her brown hair, always up

338
00:20:34.950 --> 00:20:38.490
in a pretty little bow. And look, in the South, okay,

339
00:20:39.049 --> 00:20:41.380
we like our big bows. I'm a fan of a

340
00:20:41.410 --> 00:20:44.799
big bow on a baby's head. Our saying around here

341
00:20:44.839 --> 00:20:46.900
is the bigger the bow, the closer to Jesus. And

342
00:20:46.920 --> 00:20:50.500
you know what? Even bonus points for having it monogrammed

343
00:20:50.539 --> 00:20:53.880
with your baby's initials. That's down here, though. I know

344
00:20:53.900 --> 00:20:56.980
that's not everywhere. I didn't actually realize that till I

345
00:20:57.000 --> 00:21:00.839
had my own children. That's a local thing. But Miss Cora...

346
00:21:01.089 --> 00:21:05.170
Despite whatever was common in the area where she was

347
00:21:05.210 --> 00:21:07.690
growing up, I can tell you that she was always

348
00:21:07.769 --> 00:21:12.140
well-dressed and every bit the cutie pie you would expect

349
00:21:12.180 --> 00:21:15.779
her to be. She had her mama's narrow eyes and

350
00:21:15.880 --> 00:21:20.539
this little girl loved to laugh. She loved to play,

351
00:21:20.940 --> 00:21:23.420
and if you asked her what she wanted to be

352
00:21:23.460 --> 00:21:26.380
when she grew up, she was very quick to answer.

353
00:21:26.660 --> 00:21:29.960
There was no question on her little two-year-old mind. She

354
00:21:30.019 --> 00:21:33.299
wanted to be a doctor and a mama. She had

355
00:21:33.339 --> 00:21:36.099
it all planned out, and she was well on her

356
00:21:36.279 --> 00:21:39.279
way to being a good little mama, too, because, y'all,

357
00:21:39.579 --> 00:21:44.019
she had two baby dolls that depended on her. Baby

358
00:21:44.059 --> 00:21:47.559
dolls Caroline and Charlotte, she had to take care of

359
00:21:47.599 --> 00:21:50.849
those two. She would swaddle them up. She would make

360
00:21:50.930 --> 00:21:54.210
sure that their bottles and their diaper bags were filled

361
00:21:54.250 --> 00:21:57.049
to the brim. No mind if something fell out when

362
00:21:57.109 --> 00:21:59.509
she was running along with her bags. It's okay. It

363
00:21:59.529 --> 00:22:03.160
was always overflowing, but that's okay. She was taking care

364
00:22:03.240 --> 00:22:08.740
of those babies. So just imagine the excitement and the

365
00:22:08.839 --> 00:22:11.880
joy when her mommy and her daddy sat her down

366
00:22:12.359 --> 00:22:14.500
and let her know that not only was she a

367
00:22:14.539 --> 00:22:17.430
good mama to her baby dolls, but she was gonna

368
00:22:17.470 --> 00:22:21.740
be getting her own real life baby, one of her own,

369
00:22:21.759 --> 00:22:25.809
and it was gonna be a baby brother. She was

370
00:22:25.869 --> 00:22:29.470
so excited, she couldn't even handle it. Cora, Cora had,

371
00:22:29.509 --> 00:22:31.819
there was so much for her to do. She had

372
00:22:31.859 --> 00:22:34.220
to tell her baby dolls all about it. She had

373
00:22:34.259 --> 00:22:37.220
to find some toys on the floor in her room somewhere.

374
00:22:37.299 --> 00:22:39.619
She was sure she had those. And this baby would

375
00:22:39.640 --> 00:22:41.019
need a bed too. She was gonna have to get

376
00:22:41.039 --> 00:22:44.779
this all figured out. Mama, mama, he can sleep with

377
00:22:44.859 --> 00:22:47.109
me if he needs to. He can sleep with me.

378
00:22:48.069 --> 00:22:51.349
And Lindsay said, no, baby, he's gonna sleep in a crib.

379
00:22:51.390 --> 00:22:53.490
He's gonna sleep in his own crib, okay? He's gotta

380
00:22:53.529 --> 00:22:55.869
be safe. But you're gonna love him and you're gonna

381
00:22:55.890 --> 00:22:59.839
help take care of him. And little Cora said, oh, okay. Okay,

382
00:22:59.859 --> 00:23:03.200
I understand, but can I still hold him, Mama? And

383
00:23:03.240 --> 00:23:07.609
Lindsey said, of course. You're his big sister. He needs you.

384
00:23:08.829 --> 00:23:13.410
And Cora just wide-eyed looked back. Me? I'm going to

385
00:23:13.450 --> 00:23:21.250
be a real big sister. Wow. Wow. She couldn't wait.

386
00:23:22.089 --> 00:23:24.359
And she wouldn't have to wait long either because, y'all,

387
00:23:24.759 --> 00:23:28.130
it was only nine months later. And little baby Dawson

388
00:23:28.529 --> 00:23:31.109
came into the world. He was born on September the

389
00:23:31.230 --> 00:23:36.190
30th of 2019. Patrick and Lindsay were now the parents

390
00:23:36.299 --> 00:23:39.940
of a two-year-old girl and a newborn. But the luck

391
00:23:40.000 --> 00:23:43.339
of having a boy and a girl, one of each

392
00:23:44.099 --> 00:23:49.160
right there, the love, the excitement, and the just building

393
00:23:49.180 --> 00:23:53.130
of a beautiful family was just laying out like a storybook.

394
00:23:53.740 --> 00:23:57.339
And little Mr. Dawson was everything that this family wanted,

395
00:23:57.660 --> 00:24:00.779
and he was everything that they needed. From the jump,

396
00:24:01.420 --> 00:24:05.240
this little dude was a ball of energy. And he

397
00:24:05.279 --> 00:24:08.740
looked more like his daddy with every single passing day,

398
00:24:09.119 --> 00:24:12.660
the brown hair and the chubby cheeks. My God, y'all,

399
00:24:12.700 --> 00:24:17.450
the chubby cheeks. He continued to grow. And like I said,

400
00:24:17.490 --> 00:24:19.289
he would just kind of grow into his own, looking

401
00:24:19.329 --> 00:24:21.650
like a little man. And by the age of two,

402
00:24:22.529 --> 00:24:25.849
He had his first set of little baby teeths. They

403
00:24:25.869 --> 00:24:28.529
had grown in and they still had that tiny little

404
00:24:28.690 --> 00:24:32.470
gap between each one that babies get. Miss Cora, you know,

405
00:24:32.490 --> 00:24:36.529
she's four years old now and Dawson is two. But

406
00:24:36.569 --> 00:24:40.190
you better watch yourself. Because if Paw Patrol was on

407
00:24:40.609 --> 00:24:44.589
and Chase was on the case, so was Detective Dawson.

408
00:24:44.930 --> 00:24:47.769
He was sitting on the floor. He was surrounded by

409
00:24:47.829 --> 00:24:52.210
his dinosaurs and he had those fire trucks. His imagination

410
00:24:52.309 --> 00:24:56.990
was running wild. And if only in that little mind,

411
00:24:57.150 --> 00:25:00.250
if only he could get inside the TV and he

412
00:25:00.289 --> 00:25:03.529
could go on the adventures for real with the real

413
00:25:03.869 --> 00:25:08.539
Paw Patrol. Wow, man, that would be so cool. Cora,

414
00:25:09.839 --> 00:25:13.619
she likely would not have had time to be down

415
00:25:13.660 --> 00:25:17.400
with all of that because she was very protective of

416
00:25:17.460 --> 00:25:20.289
her baby brother, Dawson. From the moment that he had

417
00:25:20.309 --> 00:25:23.710
been born, she was instantly in love. And as far

418
00:25:23.769 --> 00:25:27.609
as she was concerned, Dawson was her baby. And that

419
00:25:27.630 --> 00:25:31.990
was her responsibility to keep him safe. She was always

420
00:25:32.130 --> 00:25:36.470
using her little play doctor supplies to ensure that Dawson

421
00:25:36.490 --> 00:25:40.460
was okay. She would give him checkups all the time.

422
00:25:40.799 --> 00:25:43.839
She took her job seriously, guys. What she was checking

423
00:25:43.900 --> 00:25:47.130
for exactly, she really actually didn't know. But guess what?

424
00:25:47.390 --> 00:25:51.430
That baby was checking her baby brother. If he fell

425
00:25:51.779 --> 00:25:54.039
and he got a boo-boo, she was right there to

426
00:25:54.119 --> 00:25:57.059
bend down and give it a little kiss. And he

427
00:25:57.099 --> 00:26:01.279
was always, always invited to her tea parties. What a

428
00:26:01.380 --> 00:26:04.839
lucky guy he was. She could pretend to be Sophia

429
00:26:04.859 --> 00:26:08.819
the First, the best princess ever. And Dawson, well, he

430
00:26:08.859 --> 00:26:10.980
could be a worker man. That's what he liked to

431
00:26:11.019 --> 00:26:12.559
call it. He could be one of his own little

432
00:26:12.940 --> 00:26:16.400
worker mans in his mind. This meant that he was

433
00:26:16.549 --> 00:26:21.269
a construction worker or a fireman. the proverbial cool guy

434
00:26:21.349 --> 00:26:25.789
as far as a two-year-old boy was concerned. While parenting

435
00:26:25.809 --> 00:26:29.190
was hard, okay, the family made the adjustments as far

436
00:26:29.230 --> 00:26:32.490
as schedules and work and daycare and all of that

437
00:26:32.650 --> 00:26:35.529
was concerned. They had to make changes, but they got

438
00:26:35.569 --> 00:26:39.390
into a rhythm and the days just continued to fly by.

439
00:26:39.869 --> 00:26:44.529
There was spring, summer, winter, and fall, all of the

440
00:26:44.589 --> 00:26:49.420
seasons just going past like like pictures flashing up on

441
00:26:49.460 --> 00:26:53.289
a screen. The seasons would change, as would the clothing,

442
00:26:53.710 --> 00:26:59.269
but the smiles stayed the same. Lindsay was feeling fulfilled

443
00:26:59.430 --> 00:27:04.190
at work as this labor and delivery nurse with more

444
00:27:04.230 --> 00:27:08.430
experience and more experience as the days went by. And

445
00:27:08.490 --> 00:27:13.269
she was a nurse that truly believed in her role

446
00:27:13.329 --> 00:27:18.619
with regard to patients' needs. While some patients think that

447
00:27:18.660 --> 00:27:23.180
a nurse's job is to kiss their ass, it's not true, guys, right?

448
00:27:23.200 --> 00:27:27.000
Their job is to save your ass, not to kiss yours.

449
00:27:27.099 --> 00:27:30.660
But Lindsay was a nurse that was willing to go

450
00:27:30.819 --> 00:27:35.000
above and beyond for those that were just in need.

451
00:27:35.440 --> 00:27:39.859
Her skills, and this is just undeniable by her work ethic,

452
00:27:39.920 --> 00:27:43.839
the people that worked with her, her being looked at

453
00:27:43.859 --> 00:27:49.109
by her supervisors, her skills were She was considered a

454
00:27:49.170 --> 00:27:54.569
reliable nurse and patient care was something that she was deeply,

455
00:27:55.150 --> 00:28:00.400
deeply passionate about. Advocacy. That was something that she was very,

456
00:28:00.779 --> 00:28:04.359
very in tune with. She would speak up and she

457
00:28:04.380 --> 00:28:07.839
would help patients who maybe even sometimes didn't realize that

458
00:28:07.880 --> 00:28:10.680
they needed things. They didn't even realize that there were

459
00:28:10.759 --> 00:28:14.500
services even available for some of the issues or problems

460
00:28:14.519 --> 00:28:17.220
that they were having, that she would bring it up.

461
00:28:17.720 --> 00:28:20.200
She would say, look, these are available to you. These

462
00:28:20.240 --> 00:28:24.369
can benefit you. Her emotions were ones that were worn

463
00:28:24.470 --> 00:28:27.390
on her sleeve, and her co-workers would often see her

464
00:28:27.769 --> 00:28:30.829
tear up. She would even cry with her patients as

465
00:28:30.890 --> 00:28:35.289
they gave birth. She was just very moved by each

466
00:28:35.750 --> 00:28:39.250
new life that was born, the beauty of birth. She

467
00:28:39.289 --> 00:28:44.039
was built for this job. She took it serious. And

468
00:28:44.079 --> 00:28:46.400
at the end of the day, Lindsay would come home

469
00:28:46.460 --> 00:28:49.259
to her own house. She would wrap her babies up

470
00:28:49.359 --> 00:28:52.599
in her arms tightly. She would shower them with love

471
00:28:53.059 --> 00:28:56.700
and hugs and kisses. And then the weekends were often

472
00:28:56.759 --> 00:29:03.119
spent on small family outings, things that were kid-centered activities. Family,

473
00:29:03.480 --> 00:29:06.000
if you're not picking up on what I'm laying down here,

474
00:29:06.519 --> 00:29:10.140
it was huge to the Clancy clan. They were tight

475
00:29:10.539 --> 00:29:14.680
with their grandparents and seeing family, that was a constant.

476
00:29:15.240 --> 00:29:18.869
They would go out to museums together. They would take walks.

477
00:29:18.940 --> 00:29:21.190
They would play at the parks. And they would do

478
00:29:21.240 --> 00:29:24.400
the simple things that mean so much when a child

479
00:29:24.720 --> 00:29:28.519
is little. And the home, let's talk about their house.

480
00:29:28.980 --> 00:29:31.559
It was decorated in a way that you just knew.

481
00:29:31.880 --> 00:29:35.250
You knew when you walked in that their kids were

482
00:29:35.289 --> 00:29:39.950
the center of their world. Pictures and coloring pages that

483
00:29:40.109 --> 00:29:44.099
Cora drew, as well as Dawson, too. Her pictures would

484
00:29:44.130 --> 00:29:47.799
be more princess-based, while Dawson's would often show the working

485
00:29:47.880 --> 00:29:52.000
men doing the hero things. He'd spray water in his pictures,

486
00:29:52.039 --> 00:29:55.599
and they'd be putting out fires. Everybody was working hard.

487
00:29:56.200 --> 00:29:59.609
And Lindsay was would even make collages of the kids

488
00:29:59.710 --> 00:30:02.309
each year. She would like to kind of put where

489
00:30:02.349 --> 00:30:04.750
they were in their life in a collage. And she

490
00:30:04.769 --> 00:30:10.490
would hang these pictures about the walls structure. That was

491
00:30:10.549 --> 00:30:15.289
something very, very important to Lindsay. And Patrick agreed with

492
00:30:15.410 --> 00:30:19.920
Lindsay's guidance as their mother. What they ate mattered incredibly

493
00:30:19.980 --> 00:30:23.859
to Lindsay. She was very meticulous about what her children ate,

494
00:30:24.160 --> 00:30:26.240
how much they ate, that she wanted to make sure

495
00:30:26.279 --> 00:30:29.599
they were well-rounded, giving fruits and veggies. And she would

496
00:30:29.640 --> 00:30:33.519
prepare their meals with care and with purpose, cutting up

497
00:30:33.539 --> 00:30:35.700
the small bites because she wanted to make sure that

498
00:30:35.740 --> 00:30:38.440
they wouldn't choke. And she also made sure that they

499
00:30:38.500 --> 00:30:42.930
were clean. They were dressed appropriately for the weather. They

500
00:30:42.950 --> 00:30:47.170
would have warm jackets and hats in the winter, but classy,

501
00:30:47.309 --> 00:30:50.490
fun clothing for whenever they would go to church. And

502
00:30:50.539 --> 00:30:53.400
Patrick worked a lot, guys. He would work from home

503
00:30:53.440 --> 00:30:55.819
at times. That was a pretty cool luxury that he had.

504
00:30:56.180 --> 00:30:58.819
And although he was required to travel from time to

505
00:30:58.880 --> 00:31:03.099
time in his position, he was always there to help

506
00:31:03.140 --> 00:31:07.259
with the baths and with playtime. And something, I don't know,

507
00:31:07.299 --> 00:31:09.339
maybe Mama would get a little aggravated with this one,

508
00:31:09.380 --> 00:31:12.539
but he would even egg Dawson on whenever he would

509
00:31:12.579 --> 00:31:15.579
get into, like, toddler trouble because Patrick just thought it

510
00:31:15.599 --> 00:31:18.259
was funny. He was tickled at the shenanigans that his

511
00:31:18.319 --> 00:31:21.059
boy would come up with. And at two years old,

512
00:31:21.680 --> 00:31:25.369
Dawson was rambunctious, and he was a wild man. He

513
00:31:25.400 --> 00:31:28.930
was crazy. But Daddy was proud of his dude. He

514
00:31:29.029 --> 00:31:32.650
loved that spirit about him and that wild nature that

515
00:31:32.690 --> 00:31:38.109
he had. So Lindsay... And Patrick would decide together that

516
00:31:38.210 --> 00:31:40.450
Lindsay was going to cut down on her hours at

517
00:31:40.529 --> 00:31:43.509
work because she wanted to spend more time with her

518
00:31:43.670 --> 00:31:48.109
own kids. And Patrick maintained his workload and providing for

519
00:31:48.150 --> 00:31:51.599
the family as is expected of the dad. And so

520
00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:55.299
Patrick listened when Lindsay was talking and he knew. He

521
00:31:55.380 --> 00:31:57.880
knew that the night shift, which is what Lindsay worked,

522
00:31:58.269 --> 00:32:00.490
was difficult on her because she wouldn't get to see

523
00:32:00.529 --> 00:32:03.450
the kids as much if she stayed on her night shift.

524
00:32:03.890 --> 00:32:06.710
The kids would have to be watched by somebody during

525
00:32:06.730 --> 00:32:09.730
the day, if not going to daycare, because she would

526
00:32:09.750 --> 00:32:12.049
have to sleep, right, during the day, and she would

527
00:32:12.069 --> 00:32:14.049
have to be at work during the night, so it

528
00:32:14.089 --> 00:32:17.049
just wasn't working out for her and the role she

529
00:32:17.109 --> 00:32:20.710
envisioned for herself as a mother. How do you mother

530
00:32:20.759 --> 00:32:23.960
little ones when you're gone at night and you're asleep

531
00:32:24.039 --> 00:32:27.309
during the day? I think a lot of moms do this, too.

532
00:32:27.329 --> 00:32:28.769
And don't be screaming at me right now if you

533
00:32:28.809 --> 00:32:31.250
work night shifts. I'm not saying that you're being any

534
00:32:31.309 --> 00:32:33.450
less of a parent. Don't you dare take it that way.

535
00:32:33.490 --> 00:32:37.589
You are providing for your children. I'm recognizing right now, though,

536
00:32:37.630 --> 00:32:41.190
that every family has different dynamics and different setups. And

537
00:32:41.250 --> 00:32:46.839
for this family, it just wasn't working for them. Co-workers

538
00:32:46.960 --> 00:32:50.779
even commented that, you know, Lindsay would be at her

539
00:32:50.839 --> 00:32:53.059
shift at night, but they would see her get on

540
00:32:53.099 --> 00:32:55.140
her phone and she would log into their cameras at

541
00:32:55.200 --> 00:32:57.240
home because she just wanted to check in on the

542
00:32:57.289 --> 00:33:00.309
kids and see what they were doing. She was attentive

543
00:33:00.730 --> 00:33:03.390
and warm. And this was even when she was actually

544
00:33:03.470 --> 00:33:07.069
not with them, that she still wanted to be involved

545
00:33:07.109 --> 00:33:11.069
in what they were doing. But mainly, Lindsay wanted to

546
00:33:11.109 --> 00:33:14.700
be at home with the kids. And that's why after

547
00:33:14.740 --> 00:33:19.869
some talking... The Clancy family knew that the change that

548
00:33:19.910 --> 00:33:23.480
would work best for them was for Lindsay's working schedule

549
00:33:23.940 --> 00:33:29.359
to be changed and pretty dramatically here. So the main

550
00:33:29.940 --> 00:33:34.619
change took place when Cora was born. Lindsay went part

551
00:33:34.680 --> 00:33:38.890
time after that point. When Dawson was born, that's when

552
00:33:38.910 --> 00:33:42.009
the change was realized that this would be more permanent.

553
00:33:42.700 --> 00:33:45.180
So being without the kids was just something that Lindsay

554
00:33:45.220 --> 00:33:48.900
was not willing to do nor negotiate. But that was

555
00:33:49.000 --> 00:33:56.390
when another big surprise would be announced. Lindsay was pregnant again.

556
00:33:57.049 --> 00:34:00.029
She had always wanted this large family, and it was

557
00:34:00.109 --> 00:34:04.420
looking like they were making this happen. The excitement, it

558
00:34:04.460 --> 00:34:06.500
just doesn't go away. I don't care if it's your

559
00:34:06.539 --> 00:34:10.389
first kid or your 50th. You're still just super excited

560
00:34:10.449 --> 00:34:13.469
when you learn that you're growing another life and to

561
00:34:13.550 --> 00:34:17.340
find out that this would be another baby boy. Patrick

562
00:34:17.360 --> 00:34:20.320
was excited, of course. And what would his name be?

563
00:34:20.860 --> 00:34:24.119
There's a lot that people put into names. They discussed

564
00:34:24.159 --> 00:34:26.800
it and they talked it over when they finally decided

565
00:34:27.219 --> 00:34:30.420
that they would settle on the name Callan. And this

566
00:34:30.480 --> 00:34:34.639
name stems from the old Irish name Cathal, I believe

567
00:34:34.679 --> 00:34:38.500
is how you would say it. And that's going to combine... Cath,

568
00:34:38.559 --> 00:34:42.699
which is battle, and vol, which means rule or mighty.

569
00:34:43.079 --> 00:34:46.880
And this gives it the overall meaning together as battle

570
00:34:46.980 --> 00:34:51.530
ruler or strong in battle. So while the name was picked,

571
00:34:52.119 --> 00:34:57.650
the upcoming birth was bringing about anxiety in Lindsay. And

572
00:34:57.670 --> 00:35:00.690
you have to think about why. Why was she feeling

573
00:35:00.789 --> 00:35:05.099
such angst? And if we're looking backwards in time, Cora's

574
00:35:05.139 --> 00:35:09.639
birth had been very painful and traumatic to her. And

575
00:35:09.659 --> 00:35:13.639
then when Dawson was born, it was arguably even more difficult,

576
00:35:13.800 --> 00:35:18.789
more traumatic whenever she was giving birth to him. So

577
00:35:19.489 --> 00:35:23.250
even after the children were home and they were well,

578
00:35:23.730 --> 00:35:27.769
Lindsay was feeling anxiety for, I guess you could say,

579
00:35:28.050 --> 00:35:31.239
unknown reasons for this new baby that was to be born.

580
00:35:32.179 --> 00:35:34.980
But it It seemed to be because of what she

581
00:35:35.019 --> 00:35:37.269
had gone through giving birth to the first two, but

582
00:35:37.369 --> 00:35:39.570
she was going to do things to try and get

583
00:35:39.670 --> 00:35:44.110
rid of these feelings. Lifestyle changes and coping strategies were

584
00:35:44.150 --> 00:35:48.110
things that Lindsay would employ to try to relax. Things

585
00:35:48.150 --> 00:35:53.880
like exercising more, meditation, journaling, things that are supposed to

586
00:35:54.260 --> 00:35:57.820
calm the soul and try to help you relax. So

587
00:35:57.860 --> 00:36:01.619
with the near birth of their third child happening very soon,

588
00:36:02.119 --> 00:36:04.480
Lindsay was doing what she could and doing the things

589
00:36:04.519 --> 00:36:06.659
that she felt like she could control to try and

590
00:36:06.699 --> 00:36:10.539
prepare for any adverse emotions that may come after the

591
00:36:10.579 --> 00:36:13.760
birth of this third child. And with all of this

592
00:36:13.820 --> 00:36:17.909
in mind, the diapers were bought, the baby clothes were

593
00:36:17.989 --> 00:36:21.409
washed and folded, and they were ready to go. Cora

594
00:36:21.449 --> 00:36:24.670
was anxiously awaiting for her new baby to be born.

595
00:36:25.480 --> 00:36:27.659
She had so many things to prepare for, right? Because

596
00:36:27.699 --> 00:36:30.320
she's now going to be the big sister of two,

597
00:36:30.949 --> 00:36:34.909
two baby brothers. And when Callan made his entrance into

598
00:36:34.949 --> 00:36:39.909
the world on May 26th of 2022, everyone was back

599
00:36:40.489 --> 00:36:43.230
all up in their feels again. He was a handsome

600
00:36:43.289 --> 00:36:47.329
little dude and strong, a strong, healthy boy, just like

601
00:36:47.369 --> 00:36:50.789
his name said that he would be. And he looked

602
00:36:50.969 --> 00:36:55.849
so much like his older brother, Dawson. These parents definitely

603
00:36:55.889 --> 00:36:59.349
had put their mark on their little ones. And for now,

604
00:36:59.469 --> 00:37:02.800
the family just felt complete. After a few days in

605
00:37:02.820 --> 00:37:05.579
the hospital, they were released and they returned home to

606
00:37:05.619 --> 00:37:09.380
start their lives together now as a family of five.

607
00:37:10.079 --> 00:37:12.860
And something, I know this again is not about me,

608
00:37:12.960 --> 00:37:15.760
but you can't help but think about what your experiences

609
00:37:15.800 --> 00:37:18.260
have been when you're listening to these stories. And something

610
00:37:18.320 --> 00:37:21.369
I remember that stressed me out big time after I

611
00:37:21.409 --> 00:37:25.360
had my own third child was that I realized in

612
00:37:25.400 --> 00:37:27.780
that instance that I didn't have enough hands for my

613
00:37:27.880 --> 00:37:31.119
kids at one time if there was an emergency. And

614
00:37:31.139 --> 00:37:33.920
for a long time, I, not Lindsay, I'm talking about me,

615
00:37:34.420 --> 00:37:37.599
I had dreams of being in water or flood water

616
00:37:37.980 --> 00:37:40.539
and not being able to grab all of my babies

617
00:37:40.619 --> 00:37:43.079
and hold them. And it would terrify me. It would

618
00:37:43.119 --> 00:37:44.800
wake me up. And when I would wake up in

619
00:37:44.820 --> 00:37:46.610
the middle of the night and catch my breath, I

620
00:37:47.110 --> 00:37:50.230
couldn't shake it for a while. I even Googled what

621
00:37:50.269 --> 00:37:52.510
that dream meant at one point because I was trying

622
00:37:52.530 --> 00:37:55.110
to understand what was I thinking, you know, what was

623
00:37:55.190 --> 00:37:57.809
making me do this to myself. And it told me

624
00:37:57.849 --> 00:38:01.409
that dreams about being in water and struggling to hold

625
00:38:01.429 --> 00:38:07.179
your children usually means that you're feeling emotionally overwhelmed and

626
00:38:07.199 --> 00:38:10.420
you're stretched too thin by your daily responsibilities. At least

627
00:38:10.460 --> 00:38:13.340
that's what your emotions are telling you. That the water

628
00:38:13.920 --> 00:38:18.780
meant that you were having hidden feelings and deep emotions.

629
00:38:19.260 --> 00:38:21.989
So if the water was rough, you're carrying a heavy

630
00:38:22.070 --> 00:38:24.739
mental load or you feel stressed and And when you're

631
00:38:25.119 --> 00:38:27.510
adding your children to that, your kids are representing the

632
00:38:27.550 --> 00:38:30.090
things that you care about the most. And they show

633
00:38:30.130 --> 00:38:34.690
your deepest duties and devotion to your protection of them.

634
00:38:35.170 --> 00:38:37.989
And then not being able to hold them all shows

635
00:38:38.110 --> 00:38:40.880
a fear of failing. It's about you. It means that

636
00:38:40.900 --> 00:38:43.880
you feel like you can't control every problem or everyone

637
00:38:43.900 --> 00:38:48.400
and their safety needs. And so I want to just

638
00:38:48.440 --> 00:38:50.219
give you that insight. I was going to just, I guess,

639
00:38:50.260 --> 00:38:52.159
have a vulnerable moment and let you know that I

640
00:38:52.199 --> 00:38:55.400
felt those things. And so maybe all moms go through

641
00:38:55.420 --> 00:38:59.199
this phase of doubt or fear. Maybe you didn't. Maybe

642
00:38:59.219 --> 00:39:02.699
you're lucky. But no matter if you're feeling fear or not,

643
00:39:02.739 --> 00:39:06.340
the good news is that things get easier with time.

644
00:39:07.219 --> 00:39:10.239
You learn to adjust and to adapt and to make

645
00:39:10.280 --> 00:39:13.889
the changes where necessary. And you learn that nothing is impossible.

646
00:39:14.530 --> 00:39:16.710
You just haven't done it yet. You got to work

647
00:39:16.769 --> 00:39:19.460
through these things. And Lindsay and Patrick were no different

648
00:39:19.480 --> 00:39:23.500
in this regard. Lindsay would spend her maternity leave caring

649
00:39:23.539 --> 00:39:26.789
for the children, bonding with the new baby. And the

650
00:39:26.889 --> 00:39:29.849
good news, guys, is that they had a lovely place.

651
00:39:30.389 --> 00:39:33.090
for these kids to grow up and call home. This

652
00:39:33.170 --> 00:39:37.360
house was charming. It was an older two-story home in

653
00:39:37.389 --> 00:39:41.880
a neighborhood, painted a classic neutral kind of blue gray

654
00:39:41.960 --> 00:39:45.619
with dark gray shingles. It had white trim. And to me,

655
00:39:46.280 --> 00:39:49.619
it looks somewhat like a barn shape. But from what

656
00:39:49.659 --> 00:39:52.590
I understand, because look, I don't know everything. I kind

657
00:39:52.610 --> 00:39:54.829
of wanted to research it a bit more. I understand

658
00:39:54.849 --> 00:39:58.150
this now to be a traditional New England Cape Cod

659
00:39:58.210 --> 00:40:01.070
look for their homes. Because I couldn't understand why I

660
00:40:01.110 --> 00:40:03.820
was saying barn and nobody else was seeing that. But

661
00:40:04.010 --> 00:40:06.019
I get it. It's just because of where I come from.

662
00:40:06.880 --> 00:40:09.880
It was landscaped. It was surrounded by these mature trees.

663
00:40:10.360 --> 00:40:12.980
And it has this nice paved driveway that goes straight

664
00:40:13.019 --> 00:40:16.960
up to the garage with a large white traditional garage door. Kelly,

665
00:40:17.000 --> 00:40:18.889
why are you explaining what a freaking house looks like?

666
00:40:19.179 --> 00:40:21.559
because it's gonna matter and I want you to visualize it.

667
00:40:21.559 --> 00:40:23.260
I want you to be able to see it. Now

668
00:40:23.300 --> 00:40:26.460
the house had three floors technically, although looking at it

669
00:40:26.500 --> 00:40:29.190
from the road, it does not appear that way, but

670
00:40:29.210 --> 00:40:31.809
there was the main level, then there was an upstairs

671
00:40:32.230 --> 00:40:34.769
and then there was a basement. So if you drove

672
00:40:34.849 --> 00:40:36.550
up the driveway and you parked and you got all

673
00:40:36.570 --> 00:40:38.769
the kids out and you're in the garage, you would

674
00:40:38.889 --> 00:40:42.280
enter this home to the left. So you would open

675
00:40:42.320 --> 00:40:44.480
up the door from the garage and it would take

676
00:40:44.519 --> 00:40:46.619
you into what I would refer to as like a

677
00:40:46.739 --> 00:40:51.420
keeping area. just like a small, narrow entryway. There was

678
00:40:51.480 --> 00:40:55.460
room for maybe a recliner, maybe a table against the wall,

679
00:40:55.500 --> 00:40:58.489
a narrow one to hold maybe decor, put your keys down,

680
00:40:58.570 --> 00:41:01.269
stuff like that. And then on the other side, there

681
00:41:01.329 --> 00:41:07.010
was a double sliding glass door that you would open

682
00:41:07.250 --> 00:41:09.809
and you could go out to the backyard patio. There

683
00:41:09.829 --> 00:41:12.030
was like a deck there, which you could sit on

684
00:41:12.449 --> 00:41:16.539
and overlook the backyard. But if you continued forward, through

685
00:41:16.579 --> 00:41:20.570
that keeping area, it then opened directly into a kitchen.

686
00:41:21.090 --> 00:41:23.630
And there was also a table and a seating area

687
00:41:24.010 --> 00:41:26.829
right there. And if you went straight through the kitchen,

688
00:41:27.300 --> 00:41:29.940
it went into a living room, like a general living

689
00:41:30.000 --> 00:41:32.920
room type of area. Now, if you go up the stairs,

690
00:41:32.960 --> 00:41:35.159
that's where all the bedrooms were, the master bedroom and

691
00:41:35.179 --> 00:41:38.179
the children's rooms and the bathrooms. And then if you

692
00:41:38.199 --> 00:41:41.289
went down the stairs, you were in the basement. And

693
00:41:41.309 --> 00:41:44.630
that basement was a pretty large area. And the Clancy's

694
00:41:44.690 --> 00:41:49.559
would use this for multiple things. So if you were

695
00:41:49.900 --> 00:41:53.019
walking down the stairs yourself, as you go down and

696
00:41:53.059 --> 00:41:55.900
you descend, if you look to your left, there was

697
00:41:55.940 --> 00:41:59.059
an open area with a couch. And this was also

698
00:41:59.199 --> 00:42:02.059
doubling as a play area for the kids, a workout

699
00:42:02.119 --> 00:42:05.250
space for Lindsay. But if you look to your right,

700
00:42:05.710 --> 00:42:08.429
there was a room that was built within the basement

701
00:42:08.449 --> 00:42:11.860
and And they created this so Patrick could use it

702
00:42:11.960 --> 00:42:14.639
as a work from home area. So in essence, this

703
00:42:14.699 --> 00:42:18.130
was his home office. So Patrick could work from the house.

704
00:42:18.510 --> 00:42:21.489
He could help out if there were any needs, you know,

705
00:42:21.730 --> 00:42:23.590
here and there while he was working as Lindsay was

706
00:42:23.639 --> 00:42:27.090
recovering and all the children were at home. So Lindsay

707
00:42:27.110 --> 00:42:30.230
would have 12 weeks of maternity leave, which she was

708
00:42:30.289 --> 00:42:34.570
thankful for. But as the days got fewer and going

709
00:42:34.630 --> 00:42:38.159
back to work became a reality again after this third child,

710
00:42:38.860 --> 00:42:44.119
Lindsay was feeling extremely anxious about leaving all of the kids.

711
00:42:44.760 --> 00:42:48.139
She told Patrick about this. She brought it up and

712
00:42:48.199 --> 00:42:51.619
he really tried to encourage her. He said, look, you know,

713
00:42:51.659 --> 00:42:54.039
we've got to relax. We've got to work through this.

714
00:42:54.840 --> 00:42:57.880
You're having a lot of emotions. I mean, listening to you,

715
00:42:57.940 --> 00:43:02.010
I understand that. But we're the parents. We've got to

716
00:43:02.289 --> 00:43:04.670
take care of our kids. This is what everybody does.

717
00:43:06.309 --> 00:43:10.030
You've been through this before. You've had some coping skills

718
00:43:10.050 --> 00:43:12.429
that you've used, and maybe we need to reapply those.

719
00:43:12.469 --> 00:43:15.280
Maybe we need to go back to the drawing board

720
00:43:15.320 --> 00:43:18.679
and really work through this. And so Lindsay listened. And

721
00:43:18.719 --> 00:43:21.320
she agreed and she tried to do as she had

722
00:43:21.360 --> 00:43:26.610
done before, but the anxiety was not subsiding. If anything,

723
00:43:27.530 --> 00:43:30.849
she kept saying that she felt like things were getting worse,

724
00:43:31.610 --> 00:43:35.530
that it was increasing, that she was not able to

725
00:43:35.590 --> 00:43:40.099
really grapple and get a hold of her emotions. So

726
00:43:40.179 --> 00:43:43.219
Cora and Dawson, at this point in the story, they're

727
00:43:43.260 --> 00:43:46.320
now at an age where daycare was a good thing.

728
00:43:47.050 --> 00:43:49.619
And although Lindsay was a mom who would read to

729
00:43:49.679 --> 00:43:54.340
them and do crafts with them, they needed more. And

730
00:43:54.760 --> 00:43:58.179
truth be told, Lindsay was kind of needing a bit less.

731
00:43:59.340 --> 00:44:03.030
So talking it over with Patrick, it was decided that

732
00:44:03.170 --> 00:44:06.150
they were going to enroll the children in this precious

733
00:44:06.210 --> 00:44:09.710
little learning center called Learning Sprouts. And I think that's

734
00:44:09.750 --> 00:44:11.909
a sweet name. Whoever came up with that, kudos to you.

735
00:44:12.190 --> 00:44:15.630
Learning Sprouts. And this was a daycare, really, but they

736
00:44:15.670 --> 00:44:21.309
did have structure and they had activities for the kids, coloring, playtime,

737
00:44:21.750 --> 00:44:24.570
not to mention the socialization with other children, learning to

738
00:44:24.699 --> 00:44:28.219
share and how to walk in a line and some

739
00:44:28.280 --> 00:44:31.500
mild learning, your numbers and your colors, and of course, snacks.

740
00:44:31.940 --> 00:44:36.050
Snack time's great, right? And the kids did relatively well

741
00:44:36.090 --> 00:44:38.960
in this newer adventure in life. And the teachers really

742
00:44:39.000 --> 00:44:41.440
took to them. They really got to know their students

743
00:44:41.500 --> 00:44:45.079
or their kids, as we would say as a teacher myself, right?

744
00:44:45.119 --> 00:44:47.860
These are our kids, even if they're not technically ours.

745
00:44:48.360 --> 00:44:52.099
Miss Susan, she was Dawson's teacher, and she loved his

746
00:44:52.139 --> 00:44:55.679
little rambunctious self. He was a silly dude. He loved

747
00:44:55.719 --> 00:44:59.230
to play. He was a goober, okay? It's a good thing.

748
00:44:59.269 --> 00:45:02.989
He was just a wild man. But he sure did

749
00:45:03.110 --> 00:45:07.389
struggle at drop-off time in the mornings. He wanted to

750
00:45:07.489 --> 00:45:10.849
stay with his mama. And when they would take his

751
00:45:10.889 --> 00:45:13.269
hand and they would lead him back to the room,

752
00:45:13.289 --> 00:45:16.530
he was just pitiful looking back and kind of throwing

753
00:45:16.550 --> 00:45:19.639
a little fit. He wanted mama. And the thought of

754
00:45:19.719 --> 00:45:22.039
not having her all day with him was something that

755
00:45:22.139 --> 00:45:25.039
he just didn't want to do. Hims was only two

756
00:45:25.059 --> 00:45:28.039
years old, y'all. He was a tough guy when he

757
00:45:28.079 --> 00:45:30.360
was out with the Paw Patrol and he was in

758
00:45:30.400 --> 00:45:34.500
his imagination and doing what the guys do. But in

759
00:45:34.579 --> 00:45:38.780
real life, wanted his mama. He wanted her with him.

760
00:45:39.760 --> 00:45:43.639
And the teachers recognized that this was very difficult for him,

761
00:45:43.679 --> 00:45:45.940
and so they would give him extra love, give him

762
00:45:46.019 --> 00:45:48.360
extra hugs to make it a little easier on him.

763
00:45:48.780 --> 00:45:51.900
After all, guys, there were some pretty cool fire trucks

764
00:45:51.960 --> 00:45:54.920
in his classroom, and those were always something that he

765
00:45:54.960 --> 00:45:57.199
would run to if they could just get his mind

766
00:45:57.360 --> 00:46:00.710
off of his mommy and into the classroom. But little

767
00:46:00.730 --> 00:46:03.550
Miss Cora didn't She did better at this, okay? She

768
00:46:03.610 --> 00:46:06.550
walked in like she owned the place, but she was

769
00:46:06.590 --> 00:46:08.320
a big sister after all, and so she had to

770
00:46:08.380 --> 00:46:12.179
show Dawson how it was done. She would walk to

771
00:46:12.219 --> 00:46:16.269
her classroom, find her some colors, sit down, and she

772
00:46:16.309 --> 00:46:19.619
would draw a picture. for her mama and her daddy

773
00:46:19.659 --> 00:46:23.000
because this was necessary. Because they would love it. They

774
00:46:23.159 --> 00:46:25.840
loved when she would present her pictures that she made

775
00:46:25.880 --> 00:46:27.719
for them when they came back to get her. She

776
00:46:27.780 --> 00:46:30.159
knew they were coming back. They would always come back

777
00:46:30.440 --> 00:46:32.679
and they would get her so she would work really

778
00:46:32.760 --> 00:46:34.940
hard on those drawings for them. And when she was

779
00:46:34.980 --> 00:46:37.530
done with her coloring, she would take a shift in

780
00:46:37.570 --> 00:46:40.869
the baby doll area, tending to their every needs and

781
00:46:40.929 --> 00:46:44.590
ensuring that those baby dolls stayed quiet. It's hard being

782
00:46:44.630 --> 00:46:48.079
a four-year-old mama, y'all. Somebody's got to do it. And

783
00:46:48.159 --> 00:46:51.920
Cora was about to turn five. She was very close.

784
00:46:52.400 --> 00:46:56.070
And legend has it, I can't confirm or deny this, guys,

785
00:46:56.710 --> 00:46:59.789
but legend has it that those baby dolls that Cora

786
00:46:59.829 --> 00:47:02.630
took care of were some of the best cared for

787
00:47:03.030 --> 00:47:05.969
and least likely to cry baby dolls that side of

788
00:47:06.010 --> 00:47:09.820
the Cape Cod Canal. Don't trust me on this. Look

789
00:47:09.840 --> 00:47:12.380
it up yourself. But that was the word on the street.

790
00:47:13.400 --> 00:47:17.739
Back at home, Lindsay was continuing to care for baby Callan.

791
00:47:18.260 --> 00:47:20.440
She didn't send him to daycare like the other two

792
00:47:20.500 --> 00:47:23.440
because she was really worried about illness, especially for a

793
00:47:23.579 --> 00:47:28.880
newer baby. And she really believed that breastfeeding was a necessity.

794
00:47:29.340 --> 00:47:32.260
And that was a huge component in her ability to

795
00:47:32.360 --> 00:47:36.619
bond with her children. But with that in mind, she

796
00:47:36.679 --> 00:47:42.110
was troubled because Callan wasn't wanting to take a bottle well. Okay, well, why?

797
00:47:42.349 --> 00:47:44.869
You just said she wanted to breastfeed. What does a

798
00:47:44.909 --> 00:47:48.059
bottle have to do with it? Well, Lindsay was starting

799
00:47:48.360 --> 00:47:51.420
to be in the process of transitioning him from breast

800
00:47:51.780 --> 00:47:55.619
to bottle because she was taking medications and some of

801
00:47:55.639 --> 00:47:58.539
those medications she did not want to breastfeed while she

802
00:47:58.559 --> 00:48:02.059
was taking those. And in the weeks since giving birth,

803
00:48:02.940 --> 00:48:07.000
Lindsay had become pretty vocal with her friends and with Patrick,

804
00:48:07.360 --> 00:48:09.610
as well as her own parents, that she was just

805
00:48:09.719 --> 00:48:13.989
not feeling herself anymore. Her anxiety was still through the roof,

806
00:48:14.710 --> 00:48:17.250
and it was so bad that she wasn't sleeping well

807
00:48:17.769 --> 00:48:21.949
at all. She felt like she was in a fog

808
00:48:22.050 --> 00:48:24.909
and that she was just running on fumes, really. But,

809
00:48:25.400 --> 00:48:28.179
you know, being a mom, that a new mom is exhausting,

810
00:48:28.199 --> 00:48:30.340
and then add to the fact that you have other children,

811
00:48:30.820 --> 00:48:32.699
I think many people could relate to the fact that

812
00:48:32.739 --> 00:48:37.199
you're exhausted and that kids in general are exhausting whenever

813
00:48:37.219 --> 00:48:42.050
they're young. But nonetheless, Lindsay was powering through. Her Facebook

814
00:48:42.179 --> 00:48:45.460
filled with photos of the kids and their moments that

815
00:48:45.519 --> 00:48:48.599
she wanted to memorialize and that she wanted to share

816
00:48:48.639 --> 00:48:52.840
with other people. Vacation photos, just being a proud mama

817
00:48:52.900 --> 00:48:56.000
and hugging on the babies, outings with the family and

818
00:48:56.059 --> 00:48:59.239
Patrick and just even the mundane at times, like all

819
00:48:59.260 --> 00:49:04.780
of our Facebooks, just full of our proud moments. Their

820
00:49:04.880 --> 00:49:09.119
family looked to be perfect to anyone who was watching.

821
00:49:10.019 --> 00:49:14.840
But oftentimes, What we see on social media is but

822
00:49:15.260 --> 00:49:19.869
a flash of reality. The highlights and the what I'll

823
00:49:19.889 --> 00:49:24.519
call onstage moments that we choose to present to the world.

824
00:49:25.300 --> 00:49:29.059
People don't usually jump to sharing their most intimate struggles

825
00:49:29.400 --> 00:49:32.519
or their issues for the world. We don't put that

826
00:49:32.559 --> 00:49:36.860
out on display. And behind closed doors was a storm

827
00:49:37.409 --> 00:49:41.130
that was brewing, but very few realized it would be

828
00:49:41.190 --> 00:49:46.750
so dangerous. And for now, everything looked normal. The children

829
00:49:46.789 --> 00:49:50.150
were at home, the family was together, and life was

830
00:49:50.210 --> 00:49:55.389
moving forward as if tomorrow was guaranteed. But behind that

831
00:49:55.590 --> 00:50:03.130
ordinary facade, something was changing. A storm was brewing. And

832
00:50:03.289 --> 00:50:06.550
no one seemed to see the clouds or hear the

833
00:50:06.590 --> 00:50:11.250
approaching thunder, not because they were missing it or because

834
00:50:11.269 --> 00:50:14.960
they were not paying attention. Everyone would go to sleep

835
00:50:15.059 --> 00:50:18.539
one night believing that there would be another ordinary morning.

836
00:50:19.300 --> 00:50:22.500
But the clock was quietly counting down to something that

837
00:50:22.719 --> 00:50:27.750
no one could ever imagine. And next week, when I

838
00:50:27.769 --> 00:50:31.070
give you part two, The terror and the screaming won't

839
00:50:31.110 --> 00:50:34.650
be outdoors where all hell breaks loose in a storm.

840
00:50:35.550 --> 00:50:38.670
And that's because the real danger, well, it had already

841
00:50:38.690 --> 00:50:47.960
made its way inside. Welcome to Unspeakable, a true crime

842
00:50:48.000 --> 00:50:50.699
podcast where I tell stories of real crimes with real

843
00:50:50.760 --> 00:50:54.599
victims whose cases are so shocking that many are left wondering,

844
00:50:54.659 --> 00:51:03.070
how is this even real? I use my experiences in

845
00:51:03.110 --> 00:51:06.579
law enforcement, corrections, and combined with my years as a

846
00:51:06.619 --> 00:51:10.880
criminal justice educator, dig deep into complex cases of evil acts.

847
00:51:11.300 --> 00:51:14.380
Some so evil, many feel they are unspeakable.
