But there's a photo of me that I posted because I went to the Renaissance Festival for the first time ever in my life, which probably makes me a nerd. But whatever had a blast and found like some little funny stuff that was that they were selling there, and one of the things was a pen that said I'm not mean, You're just a sissy. And I was just so tickled by it. But I posted a picture on my Facebook. If you go look it up you can. You can see me there. But I had the best weekend rolling into a great week that I'm now recording this. Okay, this case, this is one that I'm very familiar with, and it's one that's always kind of like giving me the hebgbi's and I wasn't expecting to do it this week, but I thought, you know what, I want to tell that one because I've just that story really always stuck with me as one that was bizarre, and I think you may enjoy it. And if you've heard it before, great, you're not going to hear it the way I tell it. But we're going to go to Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Do I have any Collegeville people? Listen, please stand up if I'm talking to you, look around, because you're the star of the show right now. I did not know there was a Collegeville and it sounds kind of neat to me.

4:12 And on their website they boast we are one of the safest communities in Montgomery County and the state, and I find that to be just a great attribute for an area to claim, you know that they are the safest. What a great thing. And even people more and more as I see what like realtors that are friends of mine put online as their start you know, they give that score of safety score, and so that would be great, right. Not a lot happens here, but that also tells you when something does happen there, it's almost like mind blowing. And I'm sure that's one of the very reasons that James and Lisa Mandrac decided to stay and settle their little family in that area. Lisa had known her husband, James basically her entire life, specifically too, I looked it up secifically from the age of ten. They met when they were kids, and people who knew her would arguably say that she was in love with him ever since she met him, even when they were younger. Now, she was not his first wife. He had gotten married really young, but they divorced, and shortly after that divorce concluded, Lisa and him reconnected and they started dating. And before that, though, how did they know one another. It's because Lisa was just the little sister of James's friends, his guy friends.

5:31 She was a little sister always around the house. But she grew up and their relationship blossomed as they got older, and eventually he would ask for her hand in marriage and she would accept. She had loved him since she was a kid and thought so much of him, and they would marry in nineteen ninety three at Saint Patrick's Church in Norristown. I want to tell you about Lisa Stunning, an absolute stunner. She was five foot eight, so she was on the taller side. Well, I'm five four. I think five eight's kind of tall, but maybe not. But she was five foot eight, very thin and very fit. Looking at her, she was blokidy cow. I don't know if you're watching me, you saw my hands the way I'm doing this, But she was a very good looking woman.

6:16 She had fair, fair skin, but contrasted against that fair skin long black hair, and people would say like snow white, if you want to think of that, because tall, thin, beautiful, pale with that long black hair. And when you're looking at Lisa's face, she has very dainty but symmetrical features and she was just a beautiful woman by all standards. I think that anyone that looks at this woman would say that she was pretty, and she had a huge smile that she just lit up. And I know you never want to say that about somebody on a podcast, specifically a true crime one, but it's the truth. When this woman smiled, you could just see the joy in her eyes and so pretty. In fact, have you ever looked at a woman maybe far away, and you're like, wow, she looks really pretty, But you keep looking as she gets closer because you're kind of curious, is she really pretty or like, is she going to be, you know, fugly when she gets closer. But the thing about Lisa was that she would just get pretti or the closer that she got. But just two years after they got married, Lisa would have been twenty nine years old, and now she was the beaming mother, full of pride and joy for her baby girl. And she and her husband James named her Devin, And I think that's a beautiful name for a baby girl. And she looked just like her mama too, just like her at nineteen months old when this case kind of you know, peaks. Lisa was just

7:47 obsessed with her daughter. And that's not a bad thing, that's a great thing. She was obsessed with her as all first time mothers would be doated on her hand and foot thought that she hung the moon, which I'm sure she actually did in her mother's eyes. And their marriage was going so well. Both Lisa and James, though they worked really hard to make ends meet, they were not wealthy. James was working as a worker at a genitorial supply company and Lisa worked on an assembly line, like a factory assembly line at Fleming Companies. And something that I found really neat about Lisa was that not only was Lisa beautiful, but she was unafraid to work.

8:28 And I would just call her a tough cookie. She was tough. She was not afraid to learn new things and to try new things. Case in point, Lisa learned to drive a forklift because she realized, if I can, if I can, if I can skirt around town in that forklift, and I can do more jobs, I can make more money on the floor at the factory. And that's just what she did. What a woman, you know what I'm saying. A go getter, unafraid to get outside of her comfort zone. And beautiful. What a ten you know, she just sounds like a woman that I would have looked up to and thought a whole lot of And something else about this couple that was just extraordinarily endearing about the both of them is that they did everything they could to be successful, and they did it together.

9:15 For example, on the weekends, to make sure that they could make ends meet, they actually would go clean offices together, husband and wife. As a team, they would go out on the weekends and clean businesses to make that extra cash. They were devoted to one another. This was a true team work strategy, and it worked for this couple. It was a beautiful marriage. One thing they came up with, though, was they agreed Sundays were quote unquote their days together. So like in my own marriage, I'll bring this up. We have the saying or I do, and my husband follows along. But there are mommy things and there are daddy things. Okay, And sure I could probably do some of the daddy things. He of course could do some of the mama things. But we just early on in our marriage that's just the way it was. Daddy takes the trash out, that's a daddy thing. Now I do it sometimes, okay, but I want the daddy to do it.

10:08 Cutting limbs in the trees, those are daddy things. I can help him out, but I want the daddy to do it, going up in the attic. If I'm mad, I will go up in that. But for the most part, my Blake does it for me. I do the mommy things right when the kids are sick, I'll clean it up. If laundry needs to be done, I'm the main laundry doer, but he does it too. But we decided that that was one of the things that we were doing in our marriage, and it works great for us well. In their marriage, Sundays were their days spending time together, catching up on errands, running and doing the chores, the house chores, but they would do spend their time together. I would say, busy, but blessed. That's how I saw this marriage. And another blessing was that at this eighteen month mark, Devin was beginning to speak, and she would lovingly call out to her mommy and her daddy and they would just grin.

10:56 She would grin ear, ear to ear with her mommy and her daddy, and she was so proud to be able to call them and we if you have children, you know the joy of that when they Mama, right Daddy. And she was calling out to them. So those Sundays I spoke of, and those afternoons now that Devin was born, was happily focused on Devin, raising her, playing with her, just having all the fun that they could. And there were things that mattered and things that didn't. On Sunday and spending time together was what mattered, and Lisa and James they both loved being outside with their baby girl, playing in the yard, having fun, just doing the simple things of just spending time together. And the neighborhood that they had moved into was perfect for their small family, tons of kids, lots of families out and about, a great atmosphere and just somewhere you really would want to grow up and to have your kids grow up. So on Sunday, September tenth and nineteen ninety five, Lisa was worrying about just trying to get all of her house duties done. James was kicked back watching some TV football was on, and so they were going about their little Sunday like they liked to do. And that's when Lisa decided that she needed to go run a few errands, including stopping at a children's store which was called Your Kids and Mine and She wanted to get a couple of things for Devin, so before she left the house, she gave her James a kiss, told him her exact plans of where she would be going, and even said, look, I won't be gone long. I'll be gone a very short amount of time. She didn't even bring a diaper bag,

12:27 that's how quickly she planned on being gone. And she said, you know, let me get her a little cup of juice, maybe a cookie for the road. Every mama knows that when your kids are little, you gotta have a snack and a juice for the road to make that trip go smoothly. And she was no different. She was going to have Devin in tow, so she got her a little bit of juice. And then her daddy decided, being the good daddy that he was, he gave her not only a cookie, but in her other little hand, he gave her a little pretzel stick. And that would keep those hands in that mouth busy. While mama was running the errands with her, James walked him out, gave him a kiss goodbye, and said I'll see you later. Last time he saw him. Devin was strapped into her car seat and Lisa took off. They drove off Alfa driveway. Well, some hours would pass and James began to wonder, you know, what is taken so long? I'm sure the football game ended.

13:15 He kind of piddled about and he's like, where are they? She said she wouldn't be gone that long. But you got to remember the nineties, everybody didn't have a cell phone. There wasn't life through sixty like we had to day where we can stalk each other. He just kind of had to wait for a phone call. But James waited as long as he could before he really started to stress. This was not like her. She said she wouldn't be gone long, and he knew in his gut she said she would be right back. Well, the shopping center that she was going to was also less than ten miles from their home, so it wouldn't have been a long drive either. So he called around, talked to some friends and some family members. Hey have you seen Lisa and Devin? Nobody had seen her or spoken to her. And another issue that kind of started going going through James's mind was that it was Sunday and most of the stores in the area didn't remain open very late, especially on a Sunday, So from what James remembered, Lisa was going to that place called Your Kids and Mine, which was a child's clothing store right there in Collegeville. So he did end up calling the police, and the police were able to locate her red car in the parking lot right where she said she would be, But there was no Lisa and there was no baby Devon. There was a grocery store that was the only place still open whenever they got there. You know, grocery stores will stay open later on a Sunday, and it was in that exact same shopping center. So Lisa's family, who also had rushed over to try to help look for her, ran into that store, calling for her in Devon, up and

14:46 down the aisles. They even made an all call for her over the loud system the speaker system, but there was no answer. And this was not how Lisa, you know, did her life. She would have answered these calls. So everyone in the family was at a loss and genuinely shaken that both of James's girls were missing, his wife and his baby girl. Nobody had seen them, and the car was still parked in the parking lot. All they could do after searching and looking for her was nothing. There was nothing to do. They didn't even have a clue of where to go or where to look. And there was also nothing wrong with her car. No flat tire, the hood wasn't up, there was no damage to the car.

15:27 So they all returned back home and kind of rendezvous there to talk about, well, where might she be? Where could she go? Is there something we missed? And police even were kind of like, hmm, you know, there's nothing wrong with the car. They kind of were like, I wonder if if she may have run off from her husband and just taken their daughter with, you know, digging her daughter with her. But that idea would quickly be disregarded quickly because hikers made an unexpected discovery. And we all know this. We're all true crime fans. We all know that if hikers are involved in a story, it can't be good. And I'm gonna tell you you're right. Valley Forge National Park was nearby where they lived, and these hikers were walking along an embankment. It was like a trail at the base of an embankment, and as they were walking, they found the body of a baby girl.

16:27 Now this trail was just fifty feet from a main access road, and it was pretty clear that the baby had been tossed haphazardly from above, hit the ground, bounced, landed, and rolled where she came to rest at the bottom of that embankment. So the bay that alone, y'all, is just disturbing to think of a child being flung from a car. But the baby would have to first be positively idd But James was unable to go in and do it. He was overcome with grief. He physically could not make himself walk through the doorway. He said, I can't do it. I just can't go look at her if it's her, And so he sent in his brother in law to go check instead. And when his brother in law came back out, the look on his face said it all. He didn't even have to say any words, but he did, and he said, it's Devin. When this was confirmed, it was more than any daddy should have to take, and it was more than that daddy could take.

17:31 He was he collapsed. His daughter was dead. His baby girl that he had just put a cookie in her hand just hours before, was dead, not with her mommy, and lying at the base of an embankment where was his wife? Where did she go? Why would the two be separated? And oh, my god, my baby's dead. I hope nothing's wrong with my wife. And baby Devon was fully clothed when she was found, but she was bruised all over. Her tiny pink, little white there were white and pink, these little Nike shoes, these eatybaty baby shoes, and they were still on her feet, as was her little red jacket, just as her mama had dressed her before they left the house that afternoon. Incredibly, other than her bruised up and discarded little body, there was no other evidence at the scene, nothing, and Lisa was nowhere to be found. So as James was left to deal with the fact that his heart was shattered, that he would never hear baby Devon say daddy ever again, police had to find Lisa. They found Devin, unfortunately not in the condition they wanted to, but they had to go find Lisa, and so they went back to the car, Lisa's car, to search for any evidence that maybe they

19:03 had missed or may be there. And sure enough, in the back seat, guess what police found on the floorboard, that little cookie and that little pretzel that Devon had had in either hand that James said he gave her right when they left that day, they weren't eaten. They were kind of nibbled on, but they were not eaten. Police, honestly, at that point, wondered if James had something to do with Lisa's disappearance and now you know Devin's death. Because what we all know as true crime fans is that those closest to us are unfortunately most likely to be the ones that are involved in foul play if anything happens to us. And that's a sick thought, but it is true. So when canvassing the neighborhood asking neighbors if they had seen anything, neighbors confirmed that James's car never left the driveway that afternoon. Remember neighbors were always out and about with their kids and all of that. They said the car never left the house. Another thing that police decided to go check out, and what caught their attention was they knew that a local motorcycle gang was known to have met near that shopping center where your kids in mine was that same day, and they wondered if maybe Lisa had had a run in with this motorcycle gang. So the hell's Angels, the Mongols, the Bandidos.

20:30 These are the motorcycle gangs that usually come to mind to me. I don't know about you, but that's what usually comes to mind when people say a motorcycle gang. But in Pennsylvania, focus would be more on the Warlocks and the Pagans. Those were the bigger groups that ran that area. The Warlocks were more about weapons and drugs, and the Pagans liked to deal in drugs and weapons trafficking as well as racketeering. But both of those gangs were known for violence, and it just never although that's the facts, it just never panned out as a legit lead. It was a good thing to avenue to check out, and it just never panned out as anything that they could follow up on the day after Devon was found, police decided to continue searching that National Park for Lisa.

21:21 Maybe Devin and Lisa were dumped there and they just missed Lisa. So they had the canines, helicopters. There were people on foot searching high and low for any sign of Lisa. But y'all, it's a big area and it would take a whole lot of manpower to search that entire area. Meanwhile, other officers were searching the shopping center and they were questioning anyone who may have seen Lisa and Devn that previous day. No one could recall seeing them, and no one mentioned having had seen the motorcycle gang either. The only two stores that were children's stores in the shopping center stores named Annie Says and Your Kids and Mine, So maybe Lisa went to Annie Says and not Your Kids in Mind. They went and tracked on that lead, but no one in Annie Says recalled seeing either one of them. And I want to tell you this, you would know if you saw Lisa. She was that pretty, and she was tall. She's one of those faces that didn't quite blend in, and I feel like she was someone that you would have noticed. So back at Your Kids in Mind. Police wanted to know who the customers were that were in the store that afternoon, and one did come forward and said she absolutely remembered seeing Lisa and Devin in the store. And so they asked this customer what time would that have been. She said it was around three pm on Sunday afternoon, and it fit the timeframe. So to follow up again, we're not just

22:53 gonna go on somebody's word to follow up. This was proven by the cash register because their purchase and all of the transactions that went through the register that evening backed up that that customer was in fact there and she was in fact paying at that time. It showed it in the register. The receipt showed the last sale at three thirty nine PM for a total of twenty two dollars and eighty nine cents. And this was important because this would establish a timeline of knowing exactly when Lisa and Devon were alive. Still so we may not know if when Devon was killed, but we do know that they were alive at three thirty nine pm. Needing to know, you know, more about what had happened, they decided police being they, they decided they wanted to speak to the worker who worked that day and that would be easy. The reason it was easy is because the owner of the store, her name was Ruth Fairley, and her own son was the one working the store that afternoon on Sunday. So his name was Caleb Fairley. He was twenty two years old, and he was known as clerk number one, which is exactly what was on the register and the transactions, so we know that it was actually Caleb that was working, so he was called by police and he told police he didn't recall seeing anyone by the description given of Devin and Lisa. He didn't remember seeing them at all that day. But he said, I'll be happy to come in. We can talk about it, we can review your pictures or whatever, and I'll be

24:25 happy to help you, no problem. So you kind of chalk it up to, Okay, you know how guys are, and I'm not trying to call out all the guys, but guys don't necessarily pay attention, you know, working in a kid's store selling clothing, they're not really paying attention. But then again, like I said, Lisa was stunning. She turned heads, and it just really seemed like, in your gut you would know that if that woman customer recognized her and remembered her, that a male would recognize her. Maybe I'm going out on a limb there, but it just seems like something that would make sense. Also, that female customer that came forward, it was only her and Devin and Lisa in the store, so it wasn't like there was a ton of people in there. It was only those two. So Caleb arrived at the station and he was greeted by detectives who brought him into a room for questioning. They did the basic questions what we all expect, you know, the you know, you know, what's your name? You know, where do you live? How long have you worked there? Blah blah blah blah blah, and so they went through these basic questionings and then after they kind of get started and they kind of get comfortable with each other. A detective that was in the room talking to him couldn't help himself and he exited out of the room. When he came back into the room, he had a wet paper towel in his hand, and he bluntly walked up to Caleb and said, dude, are

25:56 you wearing makeup? And Caleb kind of sheepishly looked at him and shook his head, Yes, I'm wearing makeup. So the detective hands him the wet paper towel and he says, I want you to wipe the makeup off for me, if you don't mind. So Caleb took the wet paper towel and he wiped his face off, got the makeup off, and when he did, it was very clear that he had scratch and claw marks all down his face, and this was obviously very alarming. Two detectives considering it. A mother was missing and her baby was dead, so they had to ask some questions further about the makeup and the scratches. Now, listen, you do you boo, and if you're a man who wears makeup, then America whatever. But whenever it's having to deal with a murder, a possible murder, and you're the last person known to have been around the person who's dead, the makeup's an issue, and we want to know why you're wearing makeup, especially over scratches over your face. But let's talk a little bit about Caleb real quick. Caleob has dirty blonde hair and it's cut in like a curly mullet is the best way, kind of like a shaggy mullet is the best way that I can describe it to you. He was overweight, he wore a scowl on his face most of the time.

27:19 But again, I am not picking on people who scowl and have unattractive phases, America. I'm just saying he kind of didn't look very nice. And another thing that was mentioned was that he wouldn't have scored very high on the hygiene chart as well. So if you stink and you don't look like you take care of yourself, it does seem rather odd that you'd now be putting on makeup because you weren't born with it. So right now it's mabeling, you know what I'm saying. If you're not putting on deodorant, why are you putting on foundation? And I would just like to take this time to do a public service announcement that please put on deodorant. It's hot anyway. If you're not gonna wear dio for the bo but you're putting on makeup, we're gonna follow that lead because that's just weird. But then again, people are allowed to be weird, right. Caleb had an answer for this, though, when they asked him about it the night of Lisa and Devin's disappearance. He said that he was at a club called The Asylum and he was going to a concert for Electric hell Fire Club. This band, because I've never heard of it in my life, I had to look it up. This was an industrial rock band and they played music that mixed like metal with techno and had goth overtones to it or undertones whatever, you want to say to the music. This music was also known to invoke what we used to call mosh pits, or

28:51 we still do. I guess where everyone gets rowdy and they slam into each other. Ah, and they're like jumping into each other. Not my speed whatsoever. But again, people like that. But I wanted to give you a sample of their music, specifically these lyrics. Go ahead and take a listen to this snippet. So, like I said, the lyrics are interesting to me, but I'm gonna I want to read them to you. In case you weren't quite understanding what he said. Here we go. Something's not quite right, something evil in the air. Tonight you feel desire burning, the cold sweat of unclean yearning. I'm in the shadow of your mind, in the realm of dreams. You'll find that I am your flesh, born of your lust. I'm your demon lover, incubus. I'm a bat out of hell and I'm coming for you. I'm your worst nightmare. I'm your darkest dream come true. Incubus. I come to you in your sleep. When the morning comes, you'll find your blood on your sheets. I will possess your body and soul.

30:22 You're under my control. I'm the angel of death and I read something that seems useful in this moment that I thought I would explain because I read it and it really it really kind of made things make sense here. What I read said, when you're happy, you feel the music, right, when you're dancing around and you're happy, you feel the music. But when you're sad, you hear the lyrics. And I wonder what happens when you're evil, because the words and the lyrics and the beat of that music seem pretty vile to me. I know there's people that love that kind of music and they're not gonna be evil. I understand that, But what about how you interpret that and your individuality, how you're impressed by that? Those lyrics are kind of dark. Regardless of the mashing, he says, you know, I was washing around that night and getting crazy. The problem comes that when police did further investigation, he had told other people that he got the scratches from very different situations. For example, he said that he had to break up a fight at work because there was a fight in the alleyway, okay, and even when even deeper in this, he said it was a three on one fight and he had to go break it up. He was acting as the hero swooping in to save the day.

31:53 So it's kind of like, you know, who, who is this guy really and what's going on? So police went looked into his history. He wasn't one to seem dangerous off the you know, just looking at him in the choir. Was he in high school? And he had graduated high school, but he had kind of this failure to launch situation going on. For example, he still lived with his parents and he seemed really content with that and even as friends though his own friends said that he was kind of an odd one, that he was weird. He also was borderline obsessed with vampires, but not vampires like Twilight the series. We're talking about vampires in a very dark and scary way, like demonic type vampire like. He really enjoyed the blood and the pain that they inflicted upon unsuspecting victims. He really liked the idea of attacking somebody and taking their soul away. He also had a record of misbehavior as far as being a misfit, and from what I gather, he really enjoyed a perverted sexuality and consent was not something he would ever be worried about

33:26 in that way. Specifically. I do know that there was a case against him for harassment and a jogger had filed with the police a complaint because she said that she was running and he pulled up to her said some extremely lude things, which I don't have that written down exactly what they were, but it was just pretty vile about just lude things he wanted to do to her. And there was even something on the thing that said tried to grab her butt, and she was disturbed enough by it not even to be able to blow it off. She was like, no, I'm called police because who pulls up on a stranger and says perverted thing like that and then tries to grab their butt. So the police felt that this was enough to request a search warrant of his parents' home, and when they served that or they requested, a judge promptly agreed and said, yeah, I want you ahead and check this out. So when they got to the house and they went to where Caleb stayed his room in the house, they found stacks of pornography.

34:23 Stacks of pornography, as in, that's all he seemed to read was porn, and he had several sex devices that were described as on the extreme end of sex devices, borderline perverse sex devices. So horrifying to me as well was that they found evidence of perversion also back at the Kid's store, once they started putting all of this together, they found that someone you guess who had drilled peep holes in the dressing room doors, meaning someone was looking through the peep holes while children and adults you know, were in various states of undress trying on clothing. He also, as part of his personality, he loved to play fantasy games such as Dungeons and Dragons. And I'm not putting anyone in a box if they play Dungeons and Dragons, or if you play it good, I'm not putting you in a box. But what I will tell you is that there is a strange connection between role play games like Dungeons and Dragons and more than just a handful of murders, which is really interesting if you want to dive down into a rabbit hole. Now, why would there be seamen on the floor of a children's clothing store. Police took Caleb's blood and sure enough, his DNA matched the seamen stains found on the carpet. By now, though, once all of this started coming out, fairly went ahead and lawyered up. He got him some representation. He and his lawyer apparently did some talking, because then fairly pretty much sunk at this point, even though circumstantial but sunk.

And that's kind of strange to me, considering the police didn't have much of anything to go on. But I don't think Caleb realized that circumstantial evidence is an evidence. That's when Fairly comes forward and says he belongs to a health club, which is fricking laughable if you look at him, but true. Next to the health club there was an overgrown lot, and police went and searched that lot, and sure enough, if they didn't find Lisa's decomposing body that had been dumped in that lot, they found her naked and she was posed in a very sexually explicit position.

They swabbed underneath those broken nails, and sure enough, if they did not find a match for DNA for Caleb Fairly under her fingernails, the once beautiful wife and mother was in terrible condition after fighting with everything that she had to keep herself and her baby girl alive, but she was no match for Caleb Fairly, so police were able to piece together what happened on that faithful day to Lisa when she went to go buy some clothes for her baby girl at the store and she began shopping when Caleb laid his eyes on her and began fantasizing based on her look.

That night they found evidence of he closed out the register, He righted the disturbed clothing racks, and then shut the door, set the alarm, locked up, and got in his car to go about

Caleb Fairley was arrested and charged with two counts of murder, aggravated assault, theft, and abuse of a corpse.
