19 Day Devil Part One

3:02 Now before I get started with season four, episode one, I got to tell you all this. It's kind of funny. So I have a listener. Her name is Emily Fountainone. Emily, you know what's coming since I said I was going to tell the story. I had permission. But Emily lives in unis. Okay. That's a little place here in Louisiana. But her AirPods had died and so she had Bluetooth the show and she said that she was listening over the bows in the house. So it was really loud because she has a hard time here and she had it turned up. When she said next thing she knew, her husband comes flying over into the house. He had pulled up and he comes in ready to fight fisticuffs and he comes throwing through the door and he's all he could hear was this woman mid-rant and he's all huffing and puffed and who's here?

3:49 Who's here? And comes running in the house just to find poor Emily right there just staring wide eyed and that's when he realized y'all it was me. It was my dumb ass. She had me turned up loud telling the story. I got mad about something and I was going off and he thought someone was in their house trying to beat up his poor wife. So they both busted out laughing. So look y'all if you need to use me as home security that's fine. When you leave your house just turn the radio up real loud and I'll bitch out anybody who comes in the house and maybe they'll run away. So anyway, hey Emily thanks for letting me know about that. I thought that was funny. I got a good chuckle out of it. All right now this case is a big one. It went down in my parish okay Livingston Parish.

4:30 Now it's actually the case that I did my live on. So if you came to the live no worries because now that I'm in a controlled environment and I've got more information you know that I've written out to kind of keep me on track and make sure that I don't forget anything. There's still going to be things in this that you did not hear at the live. So no worries there but if you didn't get to come to my first ever live it was a wonderful experience. I was so excited to see everybody there. I think it did a pretty good job and I wanted to share this case in a recorded session because this is a big one and people need to know these people's names. And this episode is going to be called 19 Day Devil and this is going to be about the Dakota Terrio case.

5:15 Now this case took place in 2018 the end of 2018 into early 2019 and it starts with a girl named Summer Ernest. Now Summer is 20 years old and Summer is living with her boyfriend. His name is Sean Scardina and Sean lives in the Hammond area which is about a 40 minute drive from where I am and he lives at home with his parents. Now Summer also lives with him at his parents house. Summer had, she was a strong, wild girl y'all and she had made a decision that she was moving out when she was younger and so she moved out and was trying to start her life with Sean and they lived at the parents house.

5:56 Now as young relationships go, Sean's a great guy by the way I need to tell y'all that Sean is a wonderful fella. I had, in my research found nothing but good things to say about him. He came from a great family and this family really cared about Summer. They thought she was great but as you know it goes usually in young relationships the relationship really just seemed to have run its course. They had been dating for a couple of years. They were having a few disagreements and they decided maybe it's better if we just broke up and so they did. So Sean and Summer are going to break up and that's whenever Summer moves from Hammond back to Denom Springs, Louisiana.

6:37 Now let's talk about that real quick. Summer's mother's name is Ronda and Ronda is a wonderful lady and she lives with her long time partner. His name is Kelvin and they live in a small trailer and they have between the two of them six kids including Summer. So when Summer moves out of Sean's home and she wants to come move back in with Mom there's really no room for them because it's a small trailer. There's only a four bedroom and so there's no room for her. There's five other boys living at home with Mom. So when she wants to move back she ends up having to call her daddy and she's like daddy I need help.

7:23 I need you know I've got to move out and he says that's no problem baby girl. His name was Billy Ernest and Billy says no problem. I'll come help you and he drives right over there and helps pack up her things and says I'll help you move back home again she couldn't move in with Mom so that's whenever she asks her dad Billy daddy can I move in with you because I don't have anywhere else to go and he says sure no problem. So Summer and daddy Billy go on back to his trailer and she moves in with Billy along with his wife Casey which would be her stepmom. Now Billy and Casey do share two young children together.

8:04 A seven year old named heaven and a one year old named Christopher. Now just a little background information I know there's a lot of characters they're not characters they're real people but there's a lot of players in this story and I'm going to do my best to kind of keep you one track but hang in there with me I think I'm going to be able to help you keep up with who everybody is but let me start here. Billy Ernest was married to Ronda Champagne. They were the parents of Summer Ernest right that just moved out of her boyfriend's home and then Summer also has two other siblings so one siblings name is Tanner Ernest and then there's a brother named Hunter Ernest okay and that was the Ernest family and like I just said Billy and Ronda were divorced.

8:52 Billy had moved on and married a woman named Casey and Ronda had moved on and had it was in a long term relationship with her boyfriend Kylvin. So when Summer moves in with her dad Billy and in with stepmom Casey they have the two other children that are young seven year old heaven one year old Christopher. Now heaven was not actually biologically Billy's kid when Billy met Casey she was pregnant but that didn't change his mind about her they continued their relationship so when heaven was born Billy was actually the only dad that heaven ever knew she did not she was not raised by her biological father and then a little bit later one year old Christopher came along.

9:35 Now in January of 2019 is whenever Summer moved in with dad and Casey. Now going back a little bit whenever Billy and Ronda were married they had a mutual friend named Jacob Chaston. Now Jacob was a family friend and they knew him you know knew him well and he had a sister her name was Tony she's not a huge player in this but when she passed away this would actually become an integral part of this story because whenever she passed away the funeral was held on January 7th 2019.

10:18 Now on that day Billy decided that he was going to go attend the funeral and Summer his daughter decided that she would accompany him and they would go and pay their respects because again Jacob was their friend and that was his sister who passed away. Now this is one of those times where hindsight is going to be 2020 y'all and you're going to realize how the most innocent of moments will forever alter someone's future as well as their families. This is just the most innocent and purest of things that could happen. When they go to the funeral Summer would meet 21 year old Dakota Terrio. Now I want to tell you something if you remember the beginning I said I was naming this episode 19 day devil.

11:04 The reason I call it 19 day devil is because this entire episode from beginning to end will take place in 19 days. I need you to remember that because this is just absolutely incredible. And over the next 19 days after they met Summer and Dakota would start quote unquote I'll call it talking. Now what do I mean by talking? Hi hello you know I mean that's not what I'm talking about. They're talking you know they're they're not serious partners but they're interested in each other. They're kind of sniffing around for sure trying to figure out what each other is all about. Now you know hell the story took takes place over 19 days how serious could this relationship be you know.

11:47 And the media really in my humble opinion got this one wrong if you ever look anything about this case up because they were always like oh the girlfriend and the boyfriend the girlfriend and the boyfriend y'all hell was 19 days. That doesn't count. This is just really kind of getting to know each other and I want you know that Dakota on based on everything that I researched was an absolute ass hat. Okay. Looking at him you don't see much all right he's a bony tall six foot seven inch 20 year old gutter mutt with scraggly hair if I'm being completely honest with you and he just looks like the typical punk ass teenager nonetheless.

12:30 All right nothing I would write home about to be to be for sure but the thing about him you know he wears baggy clothes he kind of has a grungy edge if you wanted a description of him. And I think what might have attracted summer to him was that he was everything that Sean wasn't but I don't mean that in a nice way. Sean was a good guy. He had a good family and Dakota just was the polar opposite and from everything I've ever researched my gut tells me that she was attracted to him because he was that bad boy that young girls always we always seem to come across him in our 20s right there just worthless.

13:17 And this was going to be her biggest mistake she'll ever make is that she is interested in him. Now I want to give you a little backstory about him before I go forward with summer and Dakota. Dakota had actually been married before he's 21 when I'm telling you this story but let's go back to when they were about 18 years old. He actually was married to a girl and her name was Kim. Kim Patman. Now this marriage did not last long but it did explain a lot to me as far as the details go surrounding their marriage but about what kind of person he was and gave me a lot of insight to behaviors or red flags I guess about him.

13:59 So where did Kim and Dakota meet? Well Kim and Dakota met at what's called YCP and if you're not familiar with this or you don't have it been around the school system much this is called the Youth Challenge Program and this was really my red flag to start with amongst a billion others with Dakota. Now I want to start out here. I know people that have attended the Youth Challenge Program and I'm not going to down anyone that has been there but I will tell you that kids that tend to go to these Youth Challenge programs are usually kids that are a little bit troubled. They're having trouble getting their life together maybe they have trouble with authority but their education is not going the traditional path they're struggling and he went to that program because he was big time struggling okay.

14:53 Now he was a victim of his own decisions but he was struggling. Now what caused Dakota to go to the YCP program or what was it that kind of tipped him over the edge? Well I'm glad you asked. Dakota was there because he spaced out in a ditch and everyone thought he was dead. In fact there was actually like rumors going around that Dakota had died because he was laid out in a ditch somewhere and it turns out when the police got there and found him he was actually ODN on that synthetic marijuana and he did actually end up living and this was just one of a billion other instances of him being a drug user and making a billion mistakes but he did actually go to rehab shortly thereafter this incident and believe it or not he did get sober.

15:40 Kudos to you on that that will literally be probably the only nice thing I'll say about this piece of shit but good for you you got sober for a hot second there. So once he got sober that's whenever he entered the YCP program. Now a little bit about YCP. I did look up their website because I wanted to be practical when I gave you this information and not just be you know opinionated and the YCP website really kind of churches it up but this is the explanation that they give about their school program. The Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge program is an alternative educational program which offers adolescents from the ages of 16 to 18 an opportunity to change their future.

16:20 Students looking for a way to succeed outside of a traditional school setting learn self discipline, leadership and responsibility while working to obtain a high school equivalency diploma. And you know that's true that's their goal and I'm not saying that's not true but they have a huge road ahead of them when these kids show up because they lack a lot of discipline before they get there. And you know they lead active and retired military individuals who emphasize discipline and education and they call it a unique two-part program which teaches core academics, active skills and encourages young people from all walks of life to become productive and accomplished in their chosen field.

17:06 And look for real kudos to these YCP programs because they're taking kids that may not be on a path to success and really trying to hammer home how important it is to have self discipline and to work through your problems. So Caminda Coda were 16, 17 years old whenever they met at this school and they're cadres sergeants and that's what they call them they're kind of like platoon leaders I guess but their cadres sergeants were married to each other and so that is why Caminda Coda ended up spending a lot of time together because their cadres spent a lot of time together. So they would become friends and they would eventually go to prom together right big step for a teenager let me ask somebody to the prom.

17:48 And from there their relationship blossomed and they both graduated in December of 2014 and would jump and get married almost a year later and they got married because Dakota had decided he was going to leave for the military. Now I want you to know that I did not get my information off of the internet about this. I actually did some internet sleuthing I found Cam a center of message and she agreed to speak with me so everything that I'm going to tell you came directly from Kim's mouth and you're not going to find this on the internet because I wanted to give you the real experiences that she went through. So when I spoke to Kim this is how she described Dakota she said that he was quote the best and worst times of her life.

18:35 His problem she said was that at first he was really kind and sweet but that they got married and he would switch personality like night and day she said like that like the switch of a light that he his personality would just go from one extreme to the other she said he was romantic and sweet one minute but then extremely abusive and violent the next. So she really couldn't predict what was going to come out of his mouth or what he was going to do and she was honest and told me that their relationship was volatile and she knew it they were like gasoline and fire it just was not a good mix and because of this y'all their marriage only lasted five months I know shocker young people divorce who knew right but it's true and then they would split now like I said Dakota was everything that like a hood rat girl would want and that's why it was intriguing to me that summer was interested in him because summer was not that type of girl and y'all neither was Kim Kim just came from a different life she told me that she did not know her dad growing up and that she did have a step father who she didn't feel was the best towards her and so this is my own opinion but just from talking to her when she said that Dakota was sweet and kind and had treated her really well I kind of felt like again my own opinion I kind of felt like maybe

20:06 Kim didn't really get good examples of what a man should be and therefore being treated right in her eyes maybe that wasn't the same example of what I would consider being treated right I don't know that but that's kind of what I felt whenever I would talk to her so y'all it just it went so so south in that relationship okay so let's talk about what I mean by abuse as far as Kim and and and Dakota are concerned so right after they got married this is like I told you where his behavior chain just became just absolutely erratic and she would actually find out around this time that Dakota's dad on his on his dad's side one of his aunts was a diagnosed schizophrenic and so she kind of poo pooed his behavior off as oh my god he must have mental illness this must be some kind of genetic thing that he that he picked up and she kind of let things slide that I don't think in normal circumstances not thinking that he had a mental problem that someone would have let slide not even come so the physical abuse she told me became regular and we're not talking about like just being pushed or you know maybe popped which again is totally inexcusable anyway but she's told me told me black eyes and bruises were absolutely the norm he would hurt her but again she wouldn't file the reports because of his mental health concerns and she worried oh my god if I send him to jail

21:41 jail isn't going to solve his mental problems will y'all she's right okay jail is not the place to solve mental problems unfortunately in this country we keep running into this issue where people don't seek mental health treatment whether because they can't afford it or because they don't want to or they don't recognize that they need it and then it escalates to a point where the police can involve or where y'all police are not psychiatrist or not psychologist police come in to stop bad guys from doing bad things and unfortunately want someone with for example a mental illness starts hurting someone or pulling a gun on someone well then it's like society wants them to come in and tatad these people because they have a mental illness well that's not the job of the police the job is to come in and to take the weapon away and to save the life that's at risk well can recognize that and she's like oh my god do I want to send him to jail jail is not going to do anything but pissing him off further and they're not going to be able to treat any type of mental illness that he has and so she did what a lot of domestic violence victims do and I don't mean this in a negative way I mean this in a survival way they don't report it whether they're afraid of their attacker or whether they're worried they recognize that mental illness and they don't really know how to deal with it or what to do she's a young girl she's 18 19 years old at this point and she doesn't know how to deal with it she doesn't come from a family where there's a wealth of knowledge right about what to do here she doesn't know about resources and she doesn't have the money and so she just lets it slide well eventually she says

23:18 okay well he may not be getting arrested for this but I'm not willing to do this anymore and she does file for divorce like I said five months in to the marriage now like any good Southern woman would do when it comes time for divorce you know what she did for him she gave him a ride they actually rode together to go get their divorce which was in a way kind of charming to me but she drove him there she said they got divorced and then they went out to eat afterwards and I'm laughing not because it's funny but because I can just see two young people trying to navigate the world and she doesn't know what to do so they ride together to get their divorce and then they go have lunch afterwards and she says look we remain friends I didn't hate him I just didn't want to be hurt anymore and that though would come to an extreme halt shortly thereafter so the date I'm talking about is actually the day a legend was born that legend being me ah ah August 15th that's my birthday Maliya y'all around but on August 15th of 2017 an incident would happen that would really change the trajectory of their friendship which would actually be that it ended um but I have this police report I let I pulled the actual report so that I could share it with you and I'm going to read her exact words from this report so it says um can you describe the incident to me and she wrote on August 4th around 2am my ex-husband Dakota Terrio woke me up by dragging me by my feet out of the

24:55 bed he hit me in my mouth and my head several times which knocked out my front teeth so I want you to know real quick sidebar this isn't getting pushed around this is getting the absolute shit bead out of her he knocked her teeth out Dakota then took my phone and my car keys typical abuser situation take away the mode of travel if they can't get away then you can continue to beat on them and I want to remind you he is six foot seven inches tall keelm and I do have pictures of her and I'm not trying to put her on display here y'all she's an absolute victim here um but she's a little thing um she looks to weigh at the time maybe 110 pounds um she's probably based on these pictures I'm not I haven't stood next door she looks to be about five six five seven he's big boy you know he's a foot taller than her and he's beaten the shit out of her knocking her teeth out she's literally in survival mode right now I cannot imagine waking up from a dead sleep to have to be sucker punched in the face by an absolute animal who is stronger and bigger than you and you're just trying to live and then he takes away the one mode of transportation that you have she goes on Dakota then smashed my phone and tried to drive my car into an apartment building so she got into the car he jumps in with the keys and then is threatening to crash it into the apartment building eventually Dakota gave me my keys where I agreed I would not call the cops on him another move that the abuser's make I'll

26:29 give you the keys back if you're not going to say a word about what's happening here mind you y'all her teeth are knocked out she has blood pouring from her mouth she's beat amongst the face the eyes the body and she's sitting there going I promise I won't call the cops on you like he's some kind of fucking victim here no sir before I was able to drive off Dakota twisted the mirrors off of my car later on that same day I went back to give Dakota a ride and right now if you're thinking why the hell would you do that please stop please stop if you have never been in a domestic violence situation I would so encourage you to research it hill I'll do a special if y'all want on domestic violence to explain to you the red flags what people go through because I'm not trying to trivialize what people who go through domestic violence go through what I'm trying to do is tell you there's almost a road map to it there's almost a road map to what happens and even though people have their own situations the domestic violence y'all it's so predictable because these abusers go through the same things they do the same things to these people and part of that is guilt trip part of that is brainwashing or scaring people into if I can't get this ride then I can't make the changes I need or I don't have a car because of x y and z so she agrees because I bet you in her mind she thinks if I don't help him nobody will to go give him a ride and then she goes on and she eventually would smash my windshield

28:01 so he beats the hell out of her knocks her front teeth out and she told me just in passing she went home she was so scared before she went and picked him back up she actually didn't even notice her teeth were knocked out she got home and started spitting blood out and was sinking looked in the mirror notice her face was beat up and then when she goes to get him he rips the mirrors off of her car and smashes her windshield in and at that point she says I left him in a parking lot by sprint off of Loyola and West Esplanade and that's near New Orleans right or in New Orleans so she dumped his ass right even after she gave him a second chance after almost being killed by him she ended up having to leave him so let's talk about that young girl gives him the benefit of the doubt over and over again until she's tired of the abuse and then is still kind to him after she divorces him and then he still almost kills her and y'all this is not the first incident like I told you remember how I told you she wasn't reporting other incidences will check this out there's a whole bunch that she didn't mention to police but she was willing to mention to me so let me tell you a few things that she told me that happened that are not documented anywhere but I 100% believe her and if you don't by now after he knocked her teeth out and beat the hell out of her I don't know what I could else I could say to make you believe but she said one time they were driving and they pulled over for whatever reason somewhere and he choked her out completely with no warning just light switch changed

29:34 choked her out completely out and I don't know if you know this you ought to look up your laws but I know for sure in the state of Louisiana that if you strangle someone to the point that you cut off air it escalates the charge so she stayed with him though because remember she felt sorry for him and his mental illness another time she told me that they were driving down the road and literally again light switch he was normal all of a sudden he took his foot and he threw it down on that gas pedal and floored it and would not let up now it started scaring her and she was going to code stop stop what are you doing stop pull over trying to get his attention and no matter what she did he could not or would not acknowledge her so she looks over him like what in the hell is going on and that's when she said he erupted in this unnatural laughing she said it was evil laughing like psychotic laughing and as he laughed the louder he laughed in the scarier he got he then jerked the wheel and took it onto a sidewalk and started wiping the sidewalk out thank god he didn't hit anybody until the car came to a stop eventually and they got out and whatever happened and then he decided just to go back to normal that's like creepy level 1000 but again she stayed with him but she noted another time she came home and heard him having a conversation in the back of the house so she goes back there to investigate what's going on and when she walks in guess who he's talking to

31:06 nobody he's in a room having a full on conversation not mumbling to himself not talking to himself he is out loud having a conversation full on with breaks and everything for answers and no one is there and she is scared she is like what is going on so she goes over then she's like Dakota Dakota trying to get his attention and y'all he looks through her like with shark eyes and I call it shark eyes because I think you might know what I'm talking about when someone just has dead eyes and they're just looking and they're not acknowledging if she said it was he didn't see me like I wasn't there she said but then he randomly reached up with his hands and grabbed her face and started feeling her face but again kept talking to whoever he was talking to and never realized she was there and she knew in that moment that he something was wrong something was very wrong in his head so that's whenever remember he came became real violent and all of that and they have that attack and he beats the hell out of her and she doesn't uptaking him eventually after that and she drops him off at his parents house and says I'm done for good for good good I won't do this anymore so let's talk about that family dynamic real quick because it was absolutely positively a strained family dynamic so his father's name was Keith Terrio now I did speak to people about him and I can

32:40 tell you I never met him and I'm gonna just tell you that I've never met the guy but from the people I spoke to this is what they told me about Keith he was known to beat his wife her name was Elizabeth she went by Lee so Dakota's dad was known to be abusive to the mom and based on other conversations that I had they told me that he loved to drink he started the day cracking a beer and he ended the day drinking he would drink from morning to dark and she this one person I was speaking to told me that he liked to smoke weed and that he 100% did not get along with Dakota his son okay and something that struck me is I'm like damn you not only can't get along in school you can't get along with people right of of any type of authority you buck the system you want to be a dope head you want to do all of these things you cannot even get along with the person who is biologically wired to love you you can't even get along with them Keith had almost disdain for his son because of the way that he acted but again I don't feel like Keith was an angel himself but he did not like his son he didn't get along with him now the mom Elizabeth who went by Lee Terry O I was told was a very kind woman the quote was amazingly kind and she loved her husband Keith they loved each other but she suffered

34:11 abuse by him and was scared of him now again I almost you know I see this domestic violence type situation where you love someone but they hurt you and I'm sorry I just don't think love hurts I think that there might have been way more going on here than I'll ever know but she stayed by his side and something that was just terribly heartbreaking for me was that she loved her son Dakota okay and why would that be heartbreaking it was heartbreaking because she couldn't handle him I don't know you know where I come from my mama we call it snatch and not in your ass that's literally the term my mama's out snatch and not in your ass y'all I'm 40 years old she still says it to me if I get crazy don't get crazy with my mama a Southern mama will whip your ass if you're not from here learn it don't come down here talking up talking back and even if it's not your mama down here if it's your neighbor's mama she'll come get you too like don't play with people's mamas but she just couldn't handle him and she would actually try to intervene between Keith and Dakota because it would come to physical blows between the two matter of fact I might be getting ahead of myself here but how dangerous was their relationship they pulled knives on each other they pulled guns on each other okay so if you're kind of picking up on if you know if you're slipping on what I'm dripping here this dynamic was screwed okay they they this family dynamic was very off-kilter for what's a I guess a normal parent child um relationship and he just you know one

37:22 who might even be diagnosable as a personality disorder and then you add weed cocaine and crystal meth on top of that if that is not the biggest cluster you ever met up in your life right and then on top of that he becomes even more violent so violent so that at the time of this story okay he actually broke his father's shoulder in a fight in an altercation he's a big old boy six foot seven inches and he's fighting his own family beating the hell out of his wife wow what a guy so when Dakota when Dakota's parents have had enough of them they kick him out of the house now this I want you to understand is just days before we're about to have a mass murder situation on our hands and living Stimperish remember how I told you that this whole thing happens in 14 days well that means that summer and Dakota only talked for a few days right since the funeral when they met and now he's gotten kicked out of his house so let me tell you a little bit about summer a little bit more okay summer is a pretty girl and look pretty means nothing okay I've got I understand that but it just it just matters to me that she's a beautiful girl y'all and she has long brown hair and big brown eyes and she was a high school graduate from one of our local high schools and right here in

38:56 denim springs Louisiana it's called denim springs high school but she graduated from high school and she was raised in church by her family her brothers were raised in church as well and she actually had big dreams of joining the national guard now I didn't mention that in my life because I was on limited time but I also think that might have been something that attracted her to Dakota was that he had you know wanted to join the military remember whenever he married Kim it's because he was gonna go off to the military so she really had big dreams she wanted to serve her country she wanted to be helpful to people and so she wanted to join the national guard now she had even spoken to a recruiter a local recruiter but she had changed her mind when she met Sean so she wrote she spoke to that recruiter in high school she was dating Sean remember and so she changed her mind I don't want to leave him and so that's whenever she you know moved in with Sean and she decided never mind I don't want to join but she still had it in the back of her mind because she had spoken to the recruiter continually even after she changed her mind she just wanted to try to build a life with Sean and her mom told me she was a tomboy but she could also be an absolute girly girl and I so identify with that because I mean I can be outside playing football looking like you know looking like like you know road hard and put a wet sweaty and nasty but I can also curl my hair and put on some some some makeup and clean up okay and that was summer and she was working full time whenever she

40:31 met Dakota at uh for error which and and that's a place down the road from where I am about what 30 minutes down the road and they build fire fire trucks and other firefighting apparatus it's a pretty big deal here and she worked in the detailed detailed department there and she would be so proud her mom told me she would call and say guess what I worked on today guess what I did today and her mama really was proud of her and she told me she said summer had a attitude and a smart mouth but she hated chaos and tension that was not something that she liked she was a sensitive girl so she would speak up but she certainly um you know didn't want to hurt people's feelings and envy ugly and she even had talked to her mom right before tragedy occurred that she wanted to start possibly a career in criminal justice I also did not mention this at the live now um Dakota and summer again it's baffling to me what they had in common other than they both I guess liked the military um or that he was a bad boy but I feel like summer really wanted to help people people who were considered downtrodden in her mind and I think that she felt sorry for Dakota she saw him as someone who um needed help in life he couldn't get his crap together and that maybe she could be that person to help him and get him on the right track like I said I think she was attracted to that bad boy image and you know just kind of evolved from there but one thing about Dakota that struck me

42:03 okay is that and I know I'm not the only one I can't be the only one but Dakota reminds me of that guy we all know who always has a sad story for the new girl that he meets that he interests right like he's the broken man and that um everything is just he's been a victim of circumstance and they mean they use that broken man mentality to rope in a good girl right I come from a bad family oh I have an ex-wife and she's crazy and you know all of this I bet you a million bucks that everyone else was the villain in his story and he plays this helpless victim unable to save himself because of all of these mysterious roadblocks he keeps hitting in life and I'm thinking of someone so particular right now when I'm saying this because he reminds me of this person it's never his fault it's not that he's a bad guy it's not that he's an idiot that he makes bad decisions and that he uses people up for everything they're worth it's everyone else he's not the problem right it can't be him so um something else about Dakota that I want to bring up was that he had a grandmother okay her name was Peggy and this would be his mother's mom and she lived in Virginia and he actually went to go live with her for a bit because he felt like the grandma really loved him and y'all she did Peggy loved Dakota no for all of his problems she was that grandmother that just loved him but even mama Peggy

43:40 sent his ass packing even after trying her damnedest to love him because he just was unruly he did what he wanted when he wanted he was not respectful he did not respect that someone else was paying for the roof over his head and buying groceries and cooking for him it doesn't matter you cannot love the idiot out of some people it just doesn't work it's like trying to love addiction out of somebody it doesn't work you can love them to the end of the earth but it won't solve the problem and so even grandmother wasn't willing to put up with his bullshit and you know I'm sorry but if you're own grandma can't can't love you who the hell can right and um Peggy even mentioned though that she said she thought Dakota was hearing voices at this time okay so I hope you're getting a really good picture of who this guy is now I'm gonna put you kind of on a timeline now okay we're gonna be eight days before mass murder occurs in Livingston Parish so I have these text messages and I actually I have pictures of them okay and I will put them online for you because I want you to see how wonderful summer was but this happened eight days before the we're gonna have mass murder so if you remember and like I said I know there's a lot of players here but summer's mother Rhonda would run into summer at Walmart and it's at the Walker Walker Walmart for people who are from here um and when she runs into her daughter she also runs into her ex-husband

45:16 Billy as well as Dakota so Rhonda is shopping at Walmart runs into her daughter summer and her dad Billy and this guy Dakota and I asked Rhonda I said what was your first impression of Dakota and she said not much I didn't think much of him I just kind of thought who here's this scragally scragally dude I don't know who he is she was very unimpressed by him and didn't really spend a lot of time talking to him but they run into each other at this Walmart and Rhonda mentions off the cuff Mama Rhonda says honey my car broke down she was kind of upset about that and she said you know I don't know what I'm gonna do and in these messages I'll quote them for you they started texting afterwards and Rhonda tells summer well baby it's gonna be $1900 to fix my car it's gonna be about two months before I would be able to pay that off and that little girl who had a full-time job but making you know like minimum wage who didn't have a car of her own and was trying to make her way ask her mother do you need money Rhonda responds no baby girl you hold on to the money see about getting your license and get you a car and that's when summer responds I got it the money I mean I can't get a license right now anyway Rhonda says why and she says because of my work schedule so she was working so much that she didn't have time to go get her own license because she was trying to make money to build her way so Rhonda responds you keep saving your money and trying to get your stuff together I was just letting you know about my car and she's and that's whenever summer says
