So let's get ready to bonus brown bum bum bum bum bump. I'm gonna just tell all my listeners I wanted music right there, and Jimothy couldn't make it happen for me, so I sang it my dang self. I hope you enjoyed it. Okay. So this story is going to take place in brick Township, New Jersey, and it's gonna center around a sixteen year old girl named Brittany Gregory. And Britney really does look like your average American girl. And I know a lot of people always say that to describe people, But legit, she looks like every white high school girl walking around campus that I see every single day. She had mid to long brown hair, She had a cute little button nose, She had big blue eyes, and she stood about five feet tall and weighed about one hundred and five pounds. Your average American girl, just doing the best that she can, trying to make her way in the world. And she was the youngest of five kids, which I'm like, whoa, I bet you were. I kind of feel like the further down the birth line you are, the cooler you get because you just have to deal with everybody else's crap. But she came from a pretty large family, but her family wasn't the most affluent people in town, and matter of fact, if I'm being quite honest, they probably were considered on the lower end of the income spectrum, and they didn't really have a lot going on as far as their possessions. Her parents' names were Gregory. Sorry, actually her mom's name was

2:22 Deborah Gregory and her dad's name was Joseph Dunn, and Brittany really didn't necessarily enjoy a lot of extras like the other kids in school. But something that she did have undeniably was a whole boatload of intelligence, and she was a very, very very good student. She was strong specifically in science, which was cool because she was hoping one day to be a forensic scientist. She was an honorable student, and she was well liked by her teachers, and coming from a teacher that matters, okay. So one teacher in fact who really tipped his hat to Brittany was her former science teacher, and his name was Doug Hawser, and he was just very impressed by her performance in class.

3:02 She always had a one hundred percent a in his class. She never gave him trouble, and he said that she was even the go to person, Like if he was tied up and was helping another student and another student needed help, she was the just go to. Kids went to her, she'd get up and go help them, and he really just felt like she was going to be somebody someday. And in two thousand and four, Brittany was enjoying her summer between her freshman and her sophomore year of high school. Everyone knows that when you're in that age group, you're just trying to figure out who you are and who you want to be. And part of this process for Brittany also involved navigating the turmoil of a young love right her first real relationship, and Brittany was sixteen, but she was dating an eighteen year old boy named John Fitzgerald. Her sister Brianna really takes a lot of the credit for Brittany and John getting together, as she acted as a solid wingwoman for her little sister, because Brittany first laid eyes on John at a birthday party that her mom was thrown for her, and they hung out a little bit, but John had left the party and Brittany kind of started pouting and said, everyone has a boyfriend but me, and I want him, you know, the guy that left, And big Sis came to the rescue when she got her boyfriend to go spend twenty bucks on a cab to get that boy and have him come back to the party. So, as fate would have it, they really liked each other and they end up dating. And by the end of this case, though, you'll find that this wasn't a new relationship or anything. The time that this is taking place, they had

4:36 already been dating for almost a year and a half and John was eighteen, just two years older than Brittany, and the family really liked him. By all accounts, he was a good kid. He was a you know, typical what you would expect for a teenage boy in a high school relationship with a teenage girl. But something to note was that Brittany broke up with John over his supposed actions with another girl, and shortly after that breakup occurred, in typical teen fashion, Brittany immediately wanted to talk to John again, so she had attempted to call him, and when she finally got through to him, she found out that he was actually on the beach, which really upset her because she wanted to go to the beach with him and talk with him, but he would not leave to go get her. And so, you know, when you break up with someone, you're selfishly kind of hoping that they're sitting alone crying and you know, sobbing in the corner, and John just wasn't doing that. The fact was that he was at the beach, and it gave Brittany the feeling he was doing just fine without her, and it ended up making her mad. So as Britney's frustration grew, she decided that she wanted to go see John face to face to talk with him, and in reality, I think in the back of her mind she was actually wanting to kind of reconcile with him, but she found herself unable to find a ride. She was young and she didn't have a car, and so she couldn't get from point A to point B. So she started calling around and she was looking for people that could possibly give her a ride, including her oldest sister, Brianna, but no one was able to give her the ride, and this just caused Britney's frustration to just build. So on Sunday,

6:09 July eleventh, Brianna Gregory said that she woke up around noon and she was still kind of groggy after getting home at two am from the hospital because she had been there visiting her and Britney's brother and his girlfriend because they had just had a new baby. So she slept in she was feeling kind of groggy, but when she got moving around good on Sunday, Brianna asked Brittany, Hey, do you want to go with me to go visit and she said, our brother, but this was another brother. His name was William Gregory and they called him Boomer, but he was currently in state prison awaiting trial on charges that he had robbed a man and beat him with a tyre iron. So the family dynamic here is really kind of coming together for me. The more I learned about their family, you know, the more I kind of see, you know, I don't want to say they're bad people.

6:58 I'm just saying that they they were a little lax in there, I think parenting, and their kids kind of paid the price a little bit for this. So Brittany didn't go. She wanted to stay home and kind of sleep in and figure out what she was going to do about you know, John. And that next morning, when Rihanna woke up, she realized that Britney hadn't slept in her bed. They shared a room, and this was pretty alarming to her. So she immediately left and she went straight to the police station. That's how alarmed she was, and she made a report that her sister was only sixteen years old and certainly should not have been missing all night. Right, So, considering the circumstances surrounding the last time that she spoke to her sister, she was even more alarmed because their last discussion seemed to have you know, really upset Brittany about the breakup and the fighting with John, and she just wasn't in a good place now. As I mentioned before an other episodes, juveniles are not allowed to go missing. So police pretty quickly jumped on this disappearance and they began to canvas the neighborhood and they spoke to a lot of people about Brittany, but they gathered no leads and had no clue where she could have been. But obviously teenagers don't just disappear into thin air. I mean, she had to be somewhere. So they went back to the place that she was known to be last, which was her home, and they decided that they wanted to look through all of her personal things to see what was left behind, because, as anyone who has

8:31 ever been around a teenage girl in their life for at least five minutes would know, there are certain things that a girl just will not leave home without at that age. This includes things like their cell phone or their hair brush and their lip gloss and their little purse, right their little important things that they they're always going to have with them. And what was pretty scary about this was everything was still in her room. Scary enough, even her phone and I know right now, you're like her phone. Why is that scary? Honey? You have no concept of teenagers and they're tied to a cell phone. If you don't know, you don't know. But trust me here, all I do is fight cell phones all day long in my regular job because they're attached to them. And she left it at her house and then was gone all night and nobody had heard from her. That's weird. So making that discovery, the investigators immediately let their minds go to a really really dark place. You know, has she been abducted? And if she's been abducted, think about how long she's been gone already. I mean, she could be hours and hours and hours away from her home if someone took her and threw her into a vehicle and they drove somewhere else. I mean, she could literally be anywhere in the world. And you know, any other explanation they could come up with, she didn't have any medical conditions that they were aware of, of, any immediate consequence that might could explain. You know, did she pass out somewhere or maybe is she in a hospital.

9:52 She wasn't in a hospital. She was just nowhere And no matter where they looked or who they asked, no sign of her. And this is an alarming stat that I wanted to mention. Most victims who are kidnapped, which this was kind of leaning towards a kidnapping, are killed within twenty four hours of their abduction. And Britney's already been gone all night. So this is something that law enforcement does not forget easily. And that's kind of where this case really started digging in, Like, my god, we have a real problem. It was such a shock that she went missing. Even that science teacher I mentioned before, Doug hous Er, mister Hawser, he says he was actually out shopping in a grocery store and he picked up a newspaper and put it in his buggy, and he was stunned when he saw Britney on the front of the paper. He just couldn't believe of all students that could ever go missing, she was not one that he would ever have expected this, and it hurt his heart. I mean, she was such a smart kid and a good kid, and he just could not believe that something could have happened to her. It was really shocking to everyone. So, as is typical, detectives are going to start with the people that are closest to the victim and then work their way out. It just makes sense. So Britney's sister Brionna had already called and spoken to John on that Monday after the Sunday that they broke up, because she figured that they were together. I don't know, maybe Britney fell asleep at his house or maybe, you know, they just stayed out all night. And she was literally shocked whenever he

11:24 said I never saw Brittany. The last time I spoke to her was when I was at the beach and she hung up in my face. Now that does a ligne with what was happening right on that Sunday. So when questioned further about why they were fighting, it turns out that they were fighting because John had kissed another girl. Now shortly thereafter is when Brittany went missing. And this was a bit concerning because detectives thought, hmm, their young kids do stupid things. Maybe we should go to John's house and we should talk to him and have a face to face chat to see what else he's gonna say. So when they arrived there, John seemed literally shocked to find out Brittany was still missing. He assumed, oh she was found, but they had broken up, you know, they weren't talking or whatever. And he jumped immediately to answer any questions that the detectives may have had for him, And the detectives felt that his body language alone and the information that he was giving seemed to be very genuine and that his emotions were real, and they didn't feel like he was holding anything back. He was extremely forthcoming with all of the information that he gave. So after even more questioning, it turns out the July tenth was the last time that they had actually even physically been together. And John did bring something up though about that time. You know, he says that Brittany mentioned in a discussion that she would hurt herself if

12:56 they did not get back together. And that's kind of scary, because like, what if she went off in the woods and actually did something, Like what if she went and shot herself or stabbed herself or jumped off a cliff. I mean, we don't know what she might have done. And then was she alone, did she just get lost or and nobody was there to help her or rescue her. But John's claims of Britney being self injurious or at least threatening to be was actually verified, though, and he was able to provide a love letter that Britney had given John in which was written in her own handwriting, and it was her own words, so it wasn't like it could be disputed that she was having those thoughts. Now here's a little side note. And I thought it was kind of cute and funny, typical teenager stuff. But at the end of the letter, when I was reading it, she signed her name brit Shit, and I thought that was super cute. It gives a little insight to her personality, and she sounds like she was a spicy little thing and I really dug that, but little brit Shit. But something, and that can't be forgotten either, is that all bad guys need an alibi, right, And it seems really convenient that he had this letter and that it says in it, oh, and I will hurt myself if we don't get back together. And then he even came forward saying, look, I actually had kissed another girl and that's why she's mad at me. Well, even though it seems stupid on the outside, people have killed for less, So you know, investigators are wondering, well, man, had he done something to Brittany in a fit of rage? Or

14:31 you know, did Brittany go hurt herself because of this? I mean, what do we think could have happened? With literally nothing to back it up. So in a good faith effort, John says, look, I'll even come take a polygraph test, but I can't do it right now. He tells the police. Look, I'll have to come back at a later date, but I will be happy to come and take a polygraph test. And since detectives have no grounds to keep him, they let him go. They leave. They're saying, okay, well, please do come back now. As they're parting ways, John also made sure to point out to the detectives that near his home there was a wooded area between his house and Britney's house, and while it wasn't necessarily the easiest way to get to one another, he said, well, she might have traveled through those woods to come meet me, because she's done it in the past. And looking at these woods, because I went and looked it up, they're dark. You know, it's like a desolate kind of area. It doesn't have like a beaten path or like a sidewalk or something like. She's literally would be traveling through woods, but again, she had done it before. I don't know that desolate is really the right word, but there's certainly not the beaten path, and this would have been more of like a last ditch effort I would take as a teenager to go try and meet somebody. But hey, we've all been teenagers before, and we know that when you get something in your mind or you want to go see some boy or some girl, you're gonna find a way to do it. I remember once I'm in high school. It's kind of funny. We had a little party that we all went to. My

16:03 little high school boyfriend wanted to come to the party, but I mean I couldn't drive. We got dropped off and so next thing I know, a yellow cab pulls up and he got out of the car in a cab and I thought, dang, that was an effort to kind of get to this party. And then wouldn't you know, he kissed another girl while we were there. Her name was Amber psh Rude. Anyway, it worked out because I got to marry Mustud muffin Humblake. You can say, hey, it's a bonus episode. Say, hey, all right, now, this also seems pretty convenient as well as a scary story. I mean, it's an explanation to say the least. But you know, oh my gosh, someone must have gotten her. Maybe the boogeyman grabbed her while she was in the woods. You know, it kind of seemed convenient that he mentioned the woods.

16:48 She said she was gonna hurt herself. All this other stuff was going on, So the thought does alarm detectives, and so they go get a search team together pretty quickly, and the hunt was on. But something that you can't discount is the fact that everyone verified Brittany did not have a ride to go see John. So he is making a valid argument, Hey, she may have come through the woods. I mean, nobody went to go get her. She's done it before. It's not necessarily something that's completely out of the ordinary, but they certainly wanted to check it out and validate that. So police would search for about three days but turn up nothing, and they they kept searching. There was there was, She was nowhere to be found. They didn't even find any of her items. They didn't find a sweatshirt or a shoe or a headband. Nothing. It was like, at this point she did disappear, and you know, a missing person's report had been filed, but the detectives took the step of saying, we may need other agencies to help us out on this one. So they put out reports and said, look, we're missing this teenage girl. If she did run away or if you find her in a different area, let us know, you know, she should not be gone. And then I always think about whenever I'm writing these podcasts is the role that siblings play, and in crime specifically, the fact that siblings are always so willing to do so much for one another, you know, even when we can be complete terrorists of one another, you know, but when it comes down to the nutcutting siblings,

18:22 a lot of these stories, there's a lot of siblings that are willing to do anything to find or help find their siblings and to try to help one another. And in this case, Britney's sister Brianna and another sister they have named Bobby Joe. They even they even take the step of making flyers missing person flyers and they go post them all around town, and I kind of got the feeling of, you know, they're really wanting to help. They want to find their sister, but what can they really do. You know, they have all this bottled up nervous energy, and you have to feel like you're doing something, moving forward and making progress. And if handing out flyers is the only thing that you can do, then by god, that's what they were going to go do. So they're putting flyers out everywhere.

19:03 And the community was really disturbed by the fact that this young girl could go missing, because if Brittany could go missing, I mean, anyone's daughter could go missing, and the reality of that is just so true. So they all came together. They even held a candlelight vigil for her. A lot of people came forward wanting to pray, wanting to help. Even that science teacher mister Howser I mentioned before came forward and he offered his assistants to find his missing former student. And I just feel that in my bones. You know, if you spend a year teaching a kid and then they go missing, how could you just stay back and not try to go lend assistants to find them. So, as is common with a lot of investigations, there's a whole lot of information that can come forward whenever they opened tip lines, and you know, if they're asking the community for help, but things such as like sightings and old information or information that's just completely useless is usually in abundance, and even if people have the best of intentions, it oftentimes ends up just wasting resources and time and police are chasing down leads that are dead ends and it's just fruitless. And this instance was no different. A lot of time and money spent and know nothing turned up about Brittany. So detectives had already spoken to her family, and they've already spoken to her boyfriend, so they move outside of that nuclear family, you know, that inner circle, and they go to speak to her friends to see if her friends know anything that maybe they won't share in front of the parents, but that they would be willing to share with investigators, you know, by themselves. And

20:34 the information that the friends brought up wasn't necessarily something that others were mentioning, so it was kind of like, hmm, the friends were really talking about family issues that seem to be a bit tougher than the average family problems. You know, usually when you think family issues, you think more along the lines of, oh, the parents are divorced, or they're lacking money, or there's fighting going on, you know, something along those lines. But this is a little worse for Britney in that she may be a bright student, she always has a smile on her face, but behind closed doors is where we all know trauma is usually taking place behind those closed doors. And this was the reality, you know, of Britney's situation, and it was out of her control, but it was greatly affecting her life. The fact was that her father was a heavy drug user, and we all know that anyone who's going to be heavily using drugs is usually going to be in the company of bad people. I mean, I've never met a drug user who hangs out with nuns, you know. And I'm not going to go down the whole path of what all drugs, you know, do to people and all of that. What I will say, though, is that when you become a parent, that should be your number one job in life to protect your children with all that you have. 22:07 all right. So her father, Joe kind of seems to be lacking in the father figure area. And you know, Joe was even you know, interviewed because of his heavy drug use that Brittany's friends told the police about and they wanted to know. Look, we're not here to you know, police, you over the drugs, but we need to know who all have you had in your house? Joe who all was here? But amazingly Joe whose daughter is missing and cannot be found. Amazingly, Joe isn't very useful or helpful in any of their discussions that Mike could drum up you know, where his daughter is. And I found that kind of disgusting because your daughter is missing. And look, I know this makes me mean, I know that someone may not like that I'm saying it, but damn it, your kid's missing. And then you're gonna mess around with the police and you're gonna you're gonna stone wall and not say anything. What are you trying to preserve?

23:02 Here? Are you? Are you the plug. Are they coming to you to get their dope or what you're mad? Someone's going to retaliate against you. Who gives a flying shit when it comes to the fact that your daughter is missing. I would hang up everybody across America if I thought they had anything to do with my kid missing, But not Joe. Not Joe. He's just gonna be quiet. What you worried about becalled snitch? Who cares when your kid is missing? I wouldn't care. I would storm the gates of hell. Y'all know it, and I know a lot of y'all would too. It's insane and I'm offended that a parent would refuse to speak disgusting. But someone else that was also brought to the attention of detectives was the ex boyfriend of Brittany's sister, Bobby Joe, remember the other sister that was hanging up the flyers that they made. His name was Tony, and Tony was kind of thought of as suspicious because everybody knew this, even though they didn't want to talk about it. But he always had his eye on young Britney. He really took a liking to Brittany, and he was so obvious to everyone in the family that Bobby Joe would even fight with Tony over the fact that he was always trying to be around her sister, and she was jealous, quite frankly, like you're dating me, but you want to be around my little sister, Like that's gross, that's creepy. But Brittany was not interested in him whatsoever. He just had a fascination with her, and so this really grabbed the attention of detectives as well. So they went to go pay him a visit and have a word with Tony. Now, something else that's interesting about Tony was that he only lived about six miles away from

24:33 Brittany's home, but he also didn't live alone, so he actually had a new girlfriend that lived with him. So detectives arrive on his doorstep and they say, look, I just want to talk, and immediately he gets upset, I mean real upset that they would come to his house. Now you know this, I know this. People respond differently in certain situations. I mean, you don't know how you would respond either. But he he was quick to offer an alibi and he says, look, my girlfriend can verify this. We were together that night that you know that you're saying Brittany went missing. The girlfriend agreed, yes, we were together that night, he was with me. We didn't even go anywhere. So assuming that that alibi was true and correct, detectives also, you know, had done that research and kind of had investigated Brittany's boyfriend ex boyfriend John, and remember they had been fighting. So what was actually interesting was that he made good on his word that he had told detectives. He said, look, I'll show up for the polygraph I just need some time, and five days after Brittany went missing, he did in fact show up for the polygraph test. And look, I don't know if you've ever taken a polygraph test before, but it can be intimidating, extremely nerve wracking, even if you know you didn't do anything wrong. And I mean, I have a personal story, I can vouch for it. It's kind of funny. But you know, before you get into law enforcement, you have to take a polygraph test. And my buddy Calvin was the one that was doing my test. And he doesn't remember this, but I remember it because I felt my heart drop into my buttthole

26:04 and bounce because it tripped me out so bad. But he started asking me questions once I was hooked up, and the first question he asked me was, have you ever touched yourself in front of a mirror when you're not dressed? And I looked up at him because I thought, what in the world, Like, what does that even mean? And I'm an overthinker, so it's like, oh my god. I mean when I get out of the tub, I'm not dressed and I brush my hair and my mind's going nightty to nothing. And then he busted out laugh and he said, I'm just kidding, and he turned around to this piece of paper and it was questions that they asked sex offenders that they think have offended somebody, and he thought it was freaking hilarious. I've outdudued my drawers right there because I thought I have never in my life. But anyway, I don't even know if he's listening to this, but Calvin, you're wrong for that one, buddy, all right. Either way, they asked all of the questions of John Fitzgerald, and he is shown to be truthful on that test. Now, I'm gonna do a polygra test show one day to kind of explain it, because I think y'll might be interested in it. But the interesting the interesting thing about these tests in our society is that when push comes to shove, it seems interesting how you know people are always willing to speak up to save their own skin. And I think that's quite hilarious, right. You know, John came forward and took the polygraph test out of good nature and he passed it, and life is good. But other people are kind of woosies when

27:36 it comes to the fact that they might have to go face prison time for something that they've done. And in this situation, it's actually a confidential informant or a CI as we would say, that comes forward and talks to detectives on this person's own merit, Like he played no role in this case, but something was said to him and he kind of took note of it. See, this CI went to this other guy that he likes to buy stolen property from. He was a stolen property dealer and he had gone him to buy some stuff when he noticed that the seller seemed to be a bit sore and like injured. So he asked him about him, like, dude, what's up with you? And he just kind of brushed it off and was like, oh, you know, I threw my back out while I was digging in some sand, so he brushed it off. It was kind of like, you know, you know, why are you digging into sand though?

28:33 It's weird, and that's when thirty eight year old Jack Fuller coldly replied, oh, I just killed a girl. So a quick rundown on this Jack fella is that he has had multiple criminal cases against him and was even you know, referred to as the quote unquote monster of the neighborhood. If that gives you kind of a you know, an insight to what this guy was like. I mean, this dude had spent tons of time in jail. He had a horrible reputation. Even the confidential informant was afraid of him, even though he bought stuff from him. And I guarantee you that they're buying this stolen shit because they have to make money for their dope sales and to buy drugs. But something else that's really impressive and interesting is that this guy, Jack Fuller, was also a really good friend of Britney's father.

29:26 Now you might be wondering what kind of relationship they had, but it's going to be exactly what you expect. They did drugs together. And while I know I always seem to like insert my personal life or opinions into this podcast, this is one of those times where I get so frustrated before even getting into the meat of the story, because I see this exact scenario go on in my classroom today. Kids who are doing their best to succeed in life, they have no guidance at home, they have parents addicted to drugs, and then we wonder why they have the struggles that they do. Britney was a good, good kid who seemed to be intelligent, had the world at her fingertips. But because she is a moron of a father who can't get his own vices under control, she's gonna have to suffer the consequences of his actions that he's going to bring around. Just these these these people of society that have no regard for others, steal and sell stolen goods, and you don't even think about your kids and who you're bringing to your home. But considering this, this cis information, it seemed like a pretty solid lead.

30:36 When he pointed the finger at Jack Fuller saying that he had killed a girl and was digging in sand, he knew that this girl was missing, and so he just said to the police, hey, y'all might want to follow up on this, and the police agreed, but they said, listen, we need you to be willing to do a little extra work for us, and the confidential informant agreed, I'd like to give you a little information real quick about recording conversations. And you know this is going to be considering. You know, my state Louisiana, but different states have different laws. But Louisiana, for example, we're a single party state, which means as long as one party is consenting to the recording, then the recording can take place. Meaning you can't just go, you know, secretly record people on your own in someone else's house. But if you walk in the house and you're recording you talking to somebody else, then that means you're consenting. So in essence, one person can secretly record another. And this is apparently the same law where Britney was. So it turns out to be a great thing for police because anything that could be recorded would be admissible in court. And so police decided, look, we're going to wire up this CI and we're going to listen in during a conversation that they have when they go meet up at a convenience store. Now, if anyone wants to start right now the whole entrapment argument, stop stop, stop. Let me explain entrapment for you real quick. And I don't even think this would even qualify in that instance, but I'm going to explain it anyway, just so that the water is muddied and you're not thinking about that. So you know, entrapment is going to be whenever the police entice you into something that you otherwise would not be inclined

32:12 to do. So, for example, in trapment, I don't do crack, despite what people may say, I'm just kidding. I don't do crack. Okay, So if I'm walking into a convenience store and someone walks up to me and says, hey, would you like to buy some crack, I'm not gonna go well, by golly g Willakers, today's the day. Sure, I'll take a crack, right, and I'm being dumb. But if you're not inclined to do that, then you're not going to agree to do it, and so it's not considered entrapment. Whenever you know someone offers you something and then you're like, no, I'm good and you walk away. Now, if you were a crack user and someone was selling crack on the corner of the convenience store and you walked up and the cop dressed up as a dealer says you want some crack, and you say yes, and you buy it and they arrest you, that's not entrapment either, because you were already inclined to do such behaviors, which is proven by the fact that you bought the crack. Okay, what would be entrapment would be if a cop is undercover and he looks at you and says, hey, will you help me out, confidential informant and go up to this other guy and sell him this crack rock and then the confidential informant says sure, walks up, sells the crack, brings the money back to the cop, and then the cop arrests the confidential informant. That is entrapment. Because the cop asked you to do it, you went and did it and then arrested you. You entrapped them. But you know this is a recording. It's not the same

All right, So here are the two of the guys at this convenience store, and police are listing the whole time through the wire that's being worn by the confidential informant. And it never ceases to amaze me that people who do horrible things cannot wait to word vomit everything that they did to another person, even when the other people that they're word vomiting to are sketchy af themselves. It's comical almost. It's like Sketchy hangs out with sketchy, but then they gonna run their mouths to each other about dirty deeds that they've done. I guess we could call this like Darwinism or dumbasism, or whatever you want to call it, whatever floats your boat.

The police are gonna find her quick. And this approach kind of tickled me because it literally led the bad guy ride into talking about it without him suspecting a thing, and he takes the bait. And this is when Jack Fuller doesn't even miss a beat and responds with a direct quote that I will quote to you quote. I can't dig that shit up now, It'll be stinking that shit, really that shit. Those are the words that he chooses to use to describe a young girl that he readily admits that he killed and thought so little of that he dug a hole and dumped her in it, not to mention he's a friggin' wooss and he doesn't even dig a hole deep enough and then is stupid enough to believe a confidential, sketchy ass informant and his so called story about a bloodhound. I mean, I literally think

I'm gonna make it look like a robbery. Bro is just standing in front of a convenience store talking to a ci about murder, and now with the detectives and everybody and their mama listening in. Obviously he doesn't know, but he's just gonna stand on the side of the road the of the convenience store and say, I gotta take Tommy out. I'm gonna kill somebody else. So the detectives are like, look

37:37 at each other, the hell is Tommy? And what does Tommy know? And where is Tommy? Watch your six Tommy you know? Holy crap? Well me, you, the detectives, and anyone else who's wondering, We're gonna have to wait just a second, but not long, literally a second, because the next thing that comes out of his mouth is Tommy knows some shit that could put me down forever. And he is the only person who was with me when I was with her Ding Ding Ding. That's the slot machine's going wild right now. So there's your answer. Guys. There's a guy named Tommy, and Tommy knows something and we got to figure out who he is. And detectives now are not only investigating a suspected murder of a young girl, but now they have to stop a murder that's about to occur because this suppose that Tommy guy has knowledge. You want to talk about a whole lot going on. How was your workday? Oh well, we had to go find a dead girl and then stop a murder. All in the same case, if ever, there was a be careful of the company you keep, this would be a good example. But anyway, it didn't take detectives long to figure out who Tommy was because, as I said before, birds of a feather are going to flock together, or I guess in this instance, it would be more fitting to say, you know, criminals in need have a dope problem to feed. I don't know, but you know,

39:07 this Tommy guy was a long known drug addict with a long criminal history, and detectives are smart enough to realize they probably shouldn't go poking around, you know, churches to find who this Tommy guy was. So all these numb nuts hang out together. So since they hang out together, this likely means, you know, they're unemployed. But the police still needed to go protect Tommy's life, even if he's an addict, no matter his vice is. You know, just because he knows something doesn't mean that he should be killed. So now we're kind of jumping into those degrees of separation. But basically, cops need to go find the drug addict friend of Britney's drug addict dad, you know, who may know something. So the police do their thing they're able to hammer down and address for him, and when they arise, when they arrive, low of freaking behold. When they pull up, old boys car is already out front of Tommy's house. And as you can imagine, the detectives are tripping ball because they're like, holy crap, we knew that this was probably gonna go down, but Shitty's here before we can even get to his house, you know, the dude's probably there killing him.

40:08 So one thing that they noticed though, was that right when they go to get out of the car, Fuller Jack Fuller is walking back to his car, you know, and in his hands he's got a gas can. So it's like, oh crap, this is worst case scenario. From the get go. The detectors are like, great, Tommy's dead. He's probably in the trunk, and now he's about to get burned up inside of it because old Boy's got a gas can. And then we're gonna have an arson and a murder on top of a missing girl presumed murdered. So they jumped out of their car and they grabbed Fuller and they put him in custody and they throw him in the back of the cop car and then they go over and they pop the trunk and there they find Tommy's dead body. Just kidding, No, they didn't. Tommy was fine. Tommy wasn't even there.

40:59 Tom lived to see another day. They went and checked it out, and the actually ended up finding Tommy somewhere. But he was alive and he wasn't in the trunk. Ha ha. I tricked you. But anyway, and for those of you know you like wondering, really was he alive? Yes, he was alive, and well all was good. Now. If I wasn't dealing with murder right now and then an additional plan to want to kill another person, I would be cracking up laughing at the next part, because you can't make this up. Police go and talk to Tommy and they want to know anything and everything he knows about Fuller and his whereabouts and all that, all that kind of stuff, But he doesn't want to talk to the police. He basically turns into a complete dunderhead and he knows nothing about what they're talking about. All he does is deny, deny, deny. He won't even admit that he knows Jack Fuller. So that's when the police have to give him a little bit of a truth bomb and drop that on his head. So they say, all right, Padna, you don't want to talk to us, that's fine. Why don't you go ahead and take a little listen to this, And that's when they played the audio of Jack Fuller telling the confidential informant that he's going to go kill Tommy because Tommy knows something that could put him away for life. And then, wouldn't you know, a light bulb went off in Tommy's head and all of a sudden, you know what, It turns out he did know Jack Fuller, what do you know who to thunk it right? And it turns out Tommy didn't take too kindly to his friend or so called friend, wanting to kill him. So

42:30 Tommy was willing to go down with the ship behind this guy who couldn't care less about him and was willing to kill him, just to make sure that he didn't say anything about what had happened. So now Tommy says, okay, look, we were childhood friends, and some stuff may or may not have happened, but basically Tommy says that he and Jack Fuller were out driving around in Jack's car and they decided to go by and see Britney's dad. When they arrived at the home, Fuller got out of the car and he went and knocked on the door, But then he returns right back to the car and says, I'm gonna drop you off. So Tommy was kind of confused at the abruptness of it. You're gonna drop me off, but right is there, He's trying to understand what's going on. He says, that's when the door handle pulled on the back seat of the car and a young female opened the back door and got in. He would then identify that young female to be, in fact, Brittany. Immediately, Jack takes Tommy and drops him off at home, and then Brittany and Jack drive away together, and that was the last time Tommy saw Brittany, and that was the last time anyone saw Brittany. But he actually did not see anything go down and no foul play at all, which police were inclined to believe because Tommy's now pissed off that Jack wanted to kill him. So since Jack Fuller was already in custody, the interrogation was on right because they had just arrested him so much like his friend turned murder target Jack also play. He plays them about everything that the police ask him, he knows nothing. And something that's really

44:06 cool about people who play dumb is that the longer they do it, the more rope that they're putting out to hang themselves with. So the police got tired of playing the games. He was wasting their time, so they just spill the beans. They pull out the tape recording and they play it for him, and he sits there listening to him speak in his own voice about how he was gonna go kill Tommy, but that he had also already killed Brittany and he had buried her, and so he might be in a mind. So once that hits Captain Obvious in the forehead here, he decides that he wants to switch up his tactics and he starts blaming the police for setting him up for entrapment. Now, you're a smart cookie, and I've already gone over why this wasn't entrapment. So that ship didn't sail very far.

44:47 And he immediately then did what cowards do and instead of talking and explaining what happened, he lawyers up to save his own ass. So not only is he stupid, he's stupid and has no explanation for it. And when I this this bit, I want to talk to you about real quick. I know I'm about to sound like a bad guy when I say this, but I'm gonna say it because it just never gets said. Okay. While I know that Britney's father is a victim in this and that he lost his daughter, no doubt, is this one of those times that I think that he needs to reevaluate and recognize that he holds a bit of culpability in his daughter's believed demise. At this point, it was his job to nurture her and guide her and protect her, and yet he continued to invite people with questionable backgrounds and questionable motives into their home to be around his daughter. And these are men. And I'm not a he man, you know, man hater.

The problem I have with that is why are you so stunned? Like, why why are you taken by such surprise that someone might do something to your child, considering they act just like you, and they partakeing illegal activities with you, you're friends with them, you know what they're capable of. You know, He's still a victim, though, and he did lose his daughter, and I'm not saying that he wanted it to happen to her, But when you dance with the devil, you cannot be shocked when he brings demons along for the ride. I just have a problem with that. And then there's photos I'll post for y'all of him whenever this case went big, and rather than being in front of the camera and stating, you know how much his daughter was loved and missed and where is she and we want to bring her home and oh my god, instead he's smoking a cigarette and he's flipping off the camera like that is who Brittany had as her parental figure. 47:28 feel sorry for him in one instance because he seemed to just blurt out whenever he was told that they believed his daughter was dead at the hands of his friend that he thought Jack Fuller was his friend. He blurted out, wait a minute. When she first went missing, I ran into Jack and he quickly said, oh my god, I heard that she was missing, and I really hope that you find her. You want to talk about a wolf in sheep's well, no, he's a wolf and wolf's clothing. But god, dern you look a man in the face knowing you've done something to his daughter. It's supposed to be your friend, and then you're worried. Can you imagine this guy knowing exactly what he did to that little girl and then going and looking that man in the face and saying, oh, I hope you find her, like nothing happened. That's an animal. And while all of this is horrible, I mean it's horrible in itself. Another major problem, though, is that they're missing something that they really need in order to make these charges stick against Jack, and that would be a body, because the truth is, without a body, there's no murder. She's just missing.

And this was just breaking Britney's mother's heart too, And there was an interview that she did, and she's literally just choking on her own tears, and she says, we just don't know anything. It's frustrating, it's heartbreaking. This is my baby girl. And then she turns and she points towards the jail across street where Fuller was being held, and she says, why can't he just tell us where she is? Why can't he? I want that bastard in jail for the rest of his life. Killing isn't good enough for him. And I agree with the mom there, you're a grown ass man.

Interestingly enough, though, something that I keep saying over and over again is that the same twenty percent of the population commits one hundred percent of the crimes, and this is again proven. And the fact that another woman would come forward during this investigation and make a phone call to detectives claiming that she had been abducted by Jack Fuller, now this really pulled at my heart because drug addiction is very complex. It's not simple, and when I was younger, I think I thought it was much more simple than it is. And for all the faults that drug addicts may have, for all the faults that they may have, and for all the things they do that make their families angry, and for all the things they do when they steal from society and are just a nuisance. For even though all of that happens, one of the most important things that many addicts keep is their humanity. And by humanity, I mean they recognize a victim when they see one, and in this case, a addict comes forward and God bless her. But she claimed that between October and November of two thousand and three, Jack Fuller had actually kidnapped her and held her hostage. And the way that she was able to get free,

50:49 or excuse me, the way that he was able to get her was the fact that she was in the throes of active addiction, and he lured her with the promise of free drugs if she would come with him. I just imagine the little puppy in the woods, you know, that's dying and needing help, and you dangle the steak out, the puppy comes, and then you just snatch it up and mistreat it. You know. Luckily, though, she was able to escape him, but as a result of her getting away, she was now calling police to say I think I know where that body might be of young Brittney if he buried her, I bet you I can point out where she is. And sometimes people will insert themselves into investigations just to feel like they're a part of it and to feel important. And so detectives were a bit confused as to how could you possibly not be involved yet you claim you think you know where the body is. But she came back with a really valid explanation. She said that when Jack was holding me hostage, he would often get in his car and he would take me to his favorite place that he liked to sit down and go get high. And knowing what she knows about the fact that this young girl was missing and that he probably kidnapped her, there was a likelihood that he was taking her to the same place that he was taking this woman, I mean, the previous woman that what he abducted. To her credit, had a point, and she was mentioning to police it would be a perfect place for him to take a body in her opinion. The place that she was mentioning was off of

52:19 what was called Ridge Road in Lakeland, New Jersey. It wasn't something of a place where like nobody would go because it was known for where people go dirt biking and off roading. But it was just off the beaten path enough that if you weren't going there for a reason, you wouldn't be looking there. And something else that was interesting about what this woman was claiming was the proximity to Britney's home, because it was only a ten minute drive from Britney's house. And when police went out there to look, they agreed, this is a great place to hide a body. It's a very large area, there's lots of woods, and it's not necessarily a place where someone would be sitting for an extended period of time. And when they were walking about, they also noted that it was a very sandy area. Now, something that law enforcement was able to use to their advantage as well was that there was a local state police academy that was in session right then, and so they were like, get all those recruits, were gonna use them. So they loaded up all these recruits, they brought them out there as well as a canine team, and for about eight days, eight long days, those canines and those recruits were out looking for a body. And I know that this had to have become discouraging as the days went on. You know, you're just vast area and where, you know, what are the chances of us coming across her? But the chances were pretty good because on the eighth day, one of the recruits shot up and said, oh my god, we

53:50 have an arm. One of the lead detectives would walk over there and look, and sure enough, there lay the body of a young teenage girl. And something that was very telling was a piece of jewelry that was around her neck. When the detective lifted it up, it said the name Britney, and sure enough, the recruit had found little Brittney Gregory. Now, through further research, it was found that something absolutely incredible had happened one week to them finding her body. It turns out that there was a female officer that was on patrol and actually came upon him, Jack Fuller, at that exact site. She got out of her car and she questioned him a bit because it did seem out of place. But y'all, there's nothing illegal about being out of place, and a gut feeling is not enough in a court of law to explain something. So she questioned him a little bit, but there was no probable cause and no crime being committed as far as she could tell.

54:53 So she just checked on him, checked up, and then she let him go about his way. Little did that office Sir realized that a homicide had just occurred, but police just weren't aware yet. Brittany hadn't been you know, they didn't know that she was missing, and she was right there with him, but the police had no clue, She had no idea she was in the midst of a murderer. And the location where this man had buried a body, it's now believed that he was there actually checking on the site to see if there was any police activity, and that's when that police officer spooked him and came upon him. Now, the fact that she was found, you know, to an average individual, it seems like, yes, okay, we got him. He killed her. Wow, This woman, God bless her, was able to give them an idea of where she might be. But it's still important that we have to link, you know, Brittany to him. It's just circumstances circumstantial until there's some kind of link.

55:57 So the police did their due diligence and they did have his vehicle forensically checked and wouldn't you know that there was blood found all over the inside of his car. Now I don't mean dripping, but you know there was blood found, and that DNA match would come back to none other than little Brittany. So what exactly happened that would lead a grown ass man to kill a teenage girl? At first, you know, I was inclined to believe, well, this is going to be an obvious this is going to be sexually motivated, right, he probably picked her up to raper. But when I did research on this case, I could not find that link. And you know i'd be the first to shout it. I didn't see it, And detectives don't believe that either. They believe that he picked up Brittany after she asked him for a ride to go get a visit, to go visit her boyfriend that she had broken up with, and it would make sense if they went to go visit Britney's dad. He knocks on the door, Brittany sees the chance for a ride, and he agreed, yes, I'll give you the ride. The problem is he's drug addict. He's in the throes of addiction now, something that I don't quite understand, and I'm gonna be honest, is that Why did he tell Tommy had to bring Tommy home before anything might have happened if he didn't have a plan to do something to her.

57:22 I'm not quite clear on that, but they believe that he knocked on the door to see her dad and then asked, Hey, will you give me a ride? He says, sure, no problem. Now detectives knew this too. Brittany hated drug addiction. She hated it with a passion. She actually kept a journal where she wrote about the fact that she hated how much that she couldn't just have a normal life and live a decent life like other people, that they took it for granted, that she was always around these sketchy people and that it wasn't any good for her, and she abhorred it when people did drugs around her. So the detectives believe that when she got in the and they started driving, he was smoking crack and Brittany got really upset about it. She did not want to be in the car with him openly smoking crack, so she started bussing at him about I don't want to be in the car with you while you're doing dope, and he reacted completely irrationally because he was high and because he's an asshole. He grabbed her by the head and he began slamming her head into the dash, over and over and over again. I know you're about to say, wait, I thought she was in the back seat. They switched seats whenever time he got dropped off. So he grabs this little girl by the back of her head and starts beating her face mercilessly into his dash until he finally just the one blow just knocked her completely out, you know, breaks your nose and knocks her smooth out, And even in her unconscious state, he gets on top of

58:53 her and continues to beat the ever living shit out of her until she drew her last breath. Yes, all of this over being told, don't do drugs around me, please. Even faced with all of this evidence against him, he continued to show zero remorse for his actions, and he took zero responsibility for Britney's death. He claimed complete innocence and had nothing to do with it. On October eighteenth, two thousand and five, he finally realized the gig was up, and he pled guilty to the first degree murder and was sentenced to thirty years in prison without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Thirty years for murdering a kid for nothing. You know, Britney wanted to be a forensic scientist, and I just admire that so much, and she wanted to solve crimes and make a difference in the world.

But it came true because in two thousand and eight, brick Memorial High School began offering a forensic science course and they specifically offer it in Britney's memory. And I think that that's a testament to the fact that this kid was important and just because she came from nothing doesn't mean she was nothing. She matter of fact, overcame more than a lot of people will in their lifetime, and she did up paying the ultimate price because her parents can't pick the right people to hang around. I read a few of Rebecca's diary entries and one of them that kind of stuck out in my mind was the line that she wrote, people can take anything from you, but not your mind. And I thought that that was so prophetic for a young girl that she realized her surroundings and circumstances were no good. But they could never take her intelligence from her, They could never take her mind. They couldn't control what she aspired to be. And with every show I write, it becomes apparent that we have got to do more as a society to keep animals like Jack Fuller behind bars. Britney should be alive today. If you think about it, y'all, she should damn near be my age, and she would have been someone I know she would have been. So I am absolutely unapologetic in my stance that we need harsher penalties for people who cannot abide by the
