0:17 All right, folks, welcome back to Crime Wire Weekly. We're gonna start off with the topics of what we're gonna be covering today. The verdict is in in the Carmelo Anthony case in Texas. We're gonna be talking all about that, biggest story in the country right now, and. A lot of social disruption to follow. Yeah, DWI arrest in Louisiana has led to an alligator attack, also a big story. I'm gonna move that. We start giving badges to animals. Right A Louisiana sheriff has assaulted a podcaster in a steakhouse. Got a lot to say about that one. In California, actor in top Gun Maverick is killed by his stepson.

0:59 Then we're going back to Louisiana, where in one parish apparently instigating is a crime. You know, I hope not because I've been known to instigate a time or. Yeah, I mean this is legit. I know, it's not a shocking. So a man is sentenced in the all Pair affair murder trial. We're going to be talking about that big case. Changes have been charges rather have been dropped in a case involving Arkansas's Aaron Spencer that's. Big, and I was glad to see it. Very big. A hero dad in Ohio sadly passes away dies after trying to save a woman from being strangled.

1:39 That he didn't even know. That's what makes this case even wilder. Yeah, horrible, awful case coming out of Ohio. Lustful lawbreakers. We're going to Palm Beach this week for a let's just say it's a very foot fetishy type situation. We're going to in Palm Beach, Elevated offenses, going to Texas. We're gonna tell you about something to do with airplanes, utterly unrelated. Is bringing you all the way to Nepal for actually a really great story in Florida, a man's game of hide and seek with police finally comes to an end, and you won't believe where he was hiding. I would actually believe it, But I'll tell you why later.

2:21 All right, And then we're gonna go, of course, into overtime after that, and we'll tell you about those topics later. But let's kick this one off because we're gonna be here a while on today's episode, and it's all about McKinney, Texas and a Collin County jury. On Tuesday convicted now nineteen year old Carmelo Anthony of murder in the April twenty twenty five stabbing death of seventeen year old Austin Metcalf during a high school track and field meet in Fresco. This is after less than three hours of deliberation, which is important. The jury sentenced Anthony into thirty five years in present. The verdict was levered June ninth at the Collin County Courthouse before Judge John Roach Junior. Anthony, who was seventeen at the time, was tried as an adult on first degree murder charge. He had pleaded not guilty and argued self defense. The jury rejected both the self defense claim and a sudden passion argument that could have resulted in a lesser charge or sentence. The fatal stabbing took place on April second, This is in twenty twenty five.

3:29 It was around ten am at a stadium during a district track championship that had been delayed by thunderstorms. Anthony, then a student at Frisco Centennial High School, was in the area under the Memorial High School team tent when that confrontation began. Now, witnesses testified that Metcalf and others, including his twin brother Hunter, told Anthony to leave that team space. According to testimony and police reports, Anthony then reached into his back and said something to the effect of quote, touch me and see what happens. Metcalf then grabbed Anthony by the shoulder, according to testimony, and it was at that point that Anthony pulled out a black four inch pocket knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest, striking his heart. Metcalf then ran down the bleachers, clutching his chest before collapsing, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Anthony fled, but surrendered to police shortly afterward, and he told officers he had acted in self defense and admitted to the stabbing. Now prosecutors arguing the killing was not justified. They described it as a provoked and unjustified act, noting that Anthony brought a knife to a school event and that the grab on the shoulder did not legally justify the use of deadly force. Quote. You do not get to meet a shove or grab with a stab, especially if you provoke it. This was not self de defense, folks, It's murder playing and simple. Now,

5:02 the defense maintained that Anthony feared for his safety in the moment after being physically confronted by Metcalf, who was larger. They described his response as a split second reaction. Anthony did not take the stand during the trial. Austin Metcalf was a junior at Memorial High School and he was a standout football player, track athlete, big guy six six foot tall, two hundred and fifteen pounds, solid muscle. Carmelo Anthony was a senior at Centennial High School and a member of the football and track teams, and both were described as good students as a matter of fact that Anthony had a four point zero record and no prior criminal offenses. In the punishment phase, the jury assessed thirty five years in prison. Texas law allows for a range of five years all the way up to ninety nine years for murder. In this case, Anthony will be eligible for parole after serving at least seven ten years of this sentence. Now. After the verdict, Anthony reportedly became very emotional and cried medcast twin brother addressing court saying, quote, now I want everything taken from you. You took everything from me. The Fristco Independent School district issued a statement acknowledging the ongoing impact on the community and committing to support students Anthony will service sentence in Texas prison system.

6:28 So there's a lot going on here, and what frustrates me. Okay, And admittedly I did not, you know, watch the trial. I haven't followed up hugely on this one other than I did. You know, follow it in the news, so to speak. But when when you know. About high school, okay, one thing that we inherently know is that, especially when sports come up, is that competitiveness and you know, rivalries, high school rivalries. We all remember that kind of stuff. Whether these two teams were rival or not is irrelevant. But there's one thing I do know there. I ran track in high school and in college, and there are rules of track meets and they are known rules. And this is where I start in this entire case, is that the rules of a track meet are you stay in your lane and you stay with your team. That's why they put up the team tents.

7:18 That's why they have the designated areas where you set up shop. So this so Carmelo number one brought a weapon to a weapon free zone, which means from the get go. He brought a weapon for a reason. Whatever that reason you want to argue it is, I don't care. But he had one when he should not have. Number two, he was out of area. He was in a place that he knew he was not supposed to be. So then he goes and talks shit. Basically whenever the kids tell him, hey, you need to leave. This isn't your tent. Any kid would say this is not your tent. Any kid would do that. Any coach I have told before as a coach, hey you need to go back over there with your team football games. We mitigate this as faculty to keep kids separate because we don't want any type of confrontation or anything. So then he says, touch me and see what happens. I find that to be a provoking statement. And then something else not mentioned in the.

8:15 Article is that. Metcalf basically called his bluff because he had his hand in his bag. Once Carmelo put his hand in his bag, that meant he was thinking about grabbing that weapon before anything happened. He could have stood up and walked away, but he didn't. He decided to say touch me and see what happens. Nobody was supposed to be armed. If anything, it should have been a fistfight. Okay, if anything, But when he grabbed him and said move, and then Carmelo pulled that knife out, he was done. He was done at that point, I agree, you cannot. We do not live in a society we're stabbing someone. Stabbing someone is the acceptable response. And it's bs to me to say that Metcalf was larger. Well, then if Carmelo is this weak little kid and you saw this bigger kid, don't talk crap and go where you're supposed to be.

9:01 I feel very. Strongly about that. And maybe it's all the years of teaching behind me, but nothing good could have come out of going in an area you weren't supposed to be and and it escalated from there. Well, and you know, I don't know if there's any truth to this, but I did see his defense team and and look, I want to start this off with I'm I'm team Metcalf here. I think that the what was done here was the proper thing to do. But I also think, you know, I'm also someone who's mind works were I always look at both sides of something you should and I try to see was there something that led to something. In this case, according to some reports, I've heard a coach for that team actually knew this young man and said, hey, you can you can get under our tent, and that he wasn't saying anything to anybody.

9:54 And it was several kids that walked up to him and said, hey, you need to get out of our tent. And they basically asked him twenty one times and so on. The twenty first time was when apparently Metcalf kind of got in his face and said you need to leave the tent. And he stuck his hand in his bag and said touch me and see what happens. And he touched him, and he pulled out the knife and jugged him with it in chest. Now, it's interesting with the knife because it is true that you can't bring these two sporting events, but it's also not illegal to carry the particular knife he had because it's under five point five inches and it's pocket knife and a lot of kids carried but I carried a pocket knife.

10:39 Yeah, but you're not in today's school if you have any knight. No, I'm not saying school, I'm saying state LA state law. What he had on him was not illegal, and that's it's an important point. Now. The other important point to that is just because it's not illegal, doesn't make it legal to stab somebody like it. Okay, I can understand someone carrying some thing for self defense. I totally get that. And self defense is a tricky thing. And look in Florida, they've come up with the defense for this, or I said, Florida, Texas. Rather the defense for this in his mind was standing your ground law. And he's saying I stood my ground, and stand your ground law means that someone can't force me to leave an area, especially during a thunderstorm and all this sort of stuff. And so I looked up the core principles of self defense in Texas, because they don't call it stand your ground law, they just call it the self defense principles. You have no duty to retreat.

11:40 You're not required to flee or run before using force, provided you have the legal right to be in the location where the confrontation occurs, not the aggressor. You cannot claim self defense if you started the fight or provoked the altercation, not engaged in criminal activity. You cannot use these protections if you are in the middle of committing a crime, and the fourth is immediate or proportional threat. And this is where I think he got got uh. You must have reasonable, genuine belief that the force is immediately necessary to protect you against unlawful force. Deadly force is only justified if you reasonably believe you're at the risk of death or serious bodily injury. I don't think he was in a situation where he thought he was going to be killed right there. No, there's that's the whole question. This thing, had this other had this other guy or had ten guys jumped him and he was just getting the ship beat out of him and he pulls out this knife. That's a different situation. But that's totally different. That's not what happened here.

12:47 That's why the rules of engagement or whatever you want to call it here matters so much. And this is why we are stickler about the rules. The rules are. You are not to go out of your area whether and and listen, if a coach and I'll play the game. If a coach said, hey man, it might rain, you can stand under our tent. All Carmelo had to do was walk over to the adult and say, hey man, they're telling me to leave, coach, you said, I could stand here like you know what I'm saying, that's common sense, that is common sense. Yeah, but that could go both ways. I mean, the kids could have went up to a coach and said, hey, he needs to leave, he doesn't need to be down the run. Yeah, but the kids would have never expected the coach to tell him he could stay under another team's tent because that's not the rules. So either way, either way, I don't believe that happened. I don't. I don't think that he was told he could stay there, because you would be gracious.

13:36 I'm not. I'm just saying that's what his defense say, right, and I'm not. I have no Yeah, you know, I'm sure they said a lot of things. And even the defense, I'm with you, But the defense even called another kid the defense's witness. They called a kid up there to testify on basically Carmelo's behalf, and at the end of that kid's testimony, he said, I think Carmelo was in the wrong. Carmelo was the aggressor, and that was their witness. Yeah, they're screwed up. That's a problem. And listen, as far as the sentencing goes, I think it's fair. I do you know, Metcalf is dead for the rest of his life, which makes no sense. I meant he's dead for the rest of his family's life. Okay, he doesn't get a redo, he doesn't get a do over, and so I think the sentencing is fair. I do think that he will make it out one day of prison.

14:27 I think that all sporting events now are about to change in Texas and in other schools, because I promise you they're looking at this and the rules are about to become much stricter. It's going to be under no circumstance should one team be under you know, in another team's area, nothing like that. Because of stupidity like this. And you know, kids are allowed to do dumb things. I'll give them that teenager specifically, they do dumb things. I did dumb things. You did dumb things. But I never ever thought about pulling a weapon and stabbing somebody else. That's just not in well, I don't I don't think anybody's debating whether the murder was right or wrong.

15:08 No, not the murder, But I'm saying even to even think that that was appropriate to pull a knife out is just like it's like we've become desensitized the fact. Okay, well you had a knife man, and then all these people when you're watching now there's gonna be riots and all sorts of bs because people are. You know, that's the interesting thing. There hasn't been anything. Well I was watching some video yesterday and they were going nuts riots. I'm talking about right, They're not setting things on fire. No, no, no, not that like doors, but I mean like. They're protesting, protesting that's okay, yeah, yeah, in the United States, they can do that. I don't agree with anything they're saying. I think this has been turned into a race thing. That's what I was getting. And it's it's you know, it's interesting. One of the because we need to talk about this. One of the arguments is, hey, this was an all white jury. There were no black jury members, and the three black that the defense wanted in the were dismissed. And that's fact. And the prosecution said that the reason they dismissed these three particular black jurors where they were all teachers, and they said that was a problem for us because teachers spend a lot of time around students and we didn't want their love of students to interfere with their judgment on whether this particular student should be sent to jail, and so we dismiss.

16:29 Them and listen, wait, let me finish these so. I and that makes sense. That will be appealed. There's no doubt about it. But it's actually an inaccurate statement to say it was an all white jury. It was not an all white jury. They actually had they had a Latino on that jury. They had three individuals that were I believe Chinese on that jury, and they also had a Middle Eastern gentleman on that jury. So they weren't any any Africa or black jurors. But there were certainly non white jurors. As a matter of fact, there were four of them on that jury. In this county is a predominantly white county. It's actually like eighty percent white.

17:14 So it's a it's a your your jury pool is much smaller. And look, the defense gets strikes and they also get to keep people just like the prosecution does. So that doesn't hold water with me. I do see how a defense would would bring that up. Certainly worth bringing up. But these jurors were dismissed that were black for legit reasons they were all teachers. It makes absolute sense. Yeah, So I actually to that point, I sat back, Okay, I think as good and fair people, we do need to look at everything. And I wondered, Okay, if I was on trial and I looked up and my jury was all black, would that would that make me feel like I was inherently not going to get a fair trial?

18:00 And the answer is no, Because are we assuming that you can only be good, fair and decent if you're the same race as the person in the defendant seat, Because that's not accurate. And there's plenty of people. Just because you're the loudest person doesn't mean you're the most reasonable person. And there are plenty of people of all races, all sexes, all everything that are speaking up and going this is ridiculous. This is absolutely ridiculous. Clearly Carmelo Anthony should have been found guilty. Clearly what he did was wrong, and race be damned. It doesn't matter because you don't have to be black to see.

18:40 That this. Was right or wrong. You don't have to be white to see that this was right or wrong. That's the point of the law. It's supposed to be blind to color and religion and race and you know, all of that stuff that's not I don't understand how they're coloring the conclusion. I'm not gonna say it doesn't happen. It's certainly racism exist and society, and it certainly happens in cases I'm sure out there. I don't think it happened in this case because I think it was clear cut before he was even arrested. Yeah, he stabbed this young man in front of like thirty people and killed him. And there's no debate on that, and there's no one that can say the force that he used was equal to the force that was placed against him, because you can retreat didn't exist. You can leave, and you didn't even if you don't have to. There was no threat of death on his end. There was not. But I'll tell you one thing, a couple of things with this case that surprised me. One, I didn't realize Texas allowed jurys to sentence one of the very few states to be that. Don't.

19:45 They put up their recommendation, they sentence. I, as a matter of fact, thought it was the other way around and looked it up because I couldn't believe it. They actually sentenced. A judge doesn't do it. They find guilty and they imposed this. They get the parameters of what the sentence can be, and they pay it and you know, whatever it is. They got it right for these to be lay people that were just sitting on a jury. I got to tell you something. They gave him what thirty five years? That's seventeen is you know? Yeah, with good behavior, he's got a four point zero. I mean what, you a straight a student, So he's not He's not stupid. Okay, he made a stupid decision, but he's not stupid. So what he needs to do is go be booked in. He needs to keep his nose clean. He can continue to get certifications of that are beneficial to him, and if he'll keep his profile clean and he will be a good inmate. There's no reason why he cannot look at this and say, you know what it is, what it is. I messed up, okay, but I'm not a complete throwaway. I can turn my life around and I can make this time behind bars matter and be beneficial. He can do that, Okay, even it can happen of the time he does. But you know who doesn't Austin metcalf or his family, or his family or his twin. So I think that the jury here got it fair. They got it right, because even if he serves the full thirty five, I mean, he's still going to be out in time to live more life.

21:17 So I hope that he gets a very good i'll say classification, whatever it is. I hope he gets a good mentor. While he's behind bars, they help keep this young guy on the right track, promote good decision making, and maybe he can get out and he can you know, he can make something of himself. If that's that's our goal, right YEA, our goal is to change behaviors. Well, and last thing I'm going to say on this, but you know, this is why we need cameras in the courtroom for every case. In my opinion, cases like this, when there's there's a lot of states that allow cameras in a courtroom, and there's a lot of case the states that don't. Louisiana is one of them. Don't lie cameras in the courtroom. I think that's absolutely crazy in these days and times. And the problem with that is you've got a case like this and unless you're there in that courtroom, you've got to rely on people who were there who report it, and their facts may or may not be slated. They leave they could leave things out, they could have some sort of in their bias, where when you're watching it for yourself, you can make up your own mind. You're seeing all the evidence. Kelly and I both attended a case recently where we if we went by what the headlines said at the beginning, we would have had a totally different opinion on how that case was actually.

22:42 Would have I one percent flipped my opinion just from. Sitting in the court. In the courtroom, that's how important. I don't understand in these days and times why cameras are not allowed court. A judge friend of mine about that because I was frustrated, why aren't their cameras? Why can't we? And he I think half of it's the judges, well you know where there because they're getting judged. Well, you know what the public. He told me was this, and I do understand what he's saying. He said that a court of law is not meant to be made into a TV show. It's not meant to be something that people start using a sport. Those weren't his exact words, but that's kind of how I'm explaining it. And he said that at some point in cases it becomes a media circus.

23:28 But it does anyway. Yeah, that's what they're missing. It does. And the problem you give by not having them in the courtroom is then whoever's writing that article or reporting on that story is controlling the narrative, right because the general public. Look, people work, you can't go to court. It's shut down our lives for a week. When we went, we couldn't even bring our cell phones in there, you know, So people don't have time to go to these things. So you're getting that narrative controlled whenever that happens by the media. You want to stop that from happening, put everything on a feed where people can watch the live feed. Yeah, and that doesn't fly with me, that reasoning, because they allow it in a ton of states. Look look at the aj trial. I mean that was a seven month trial that went on forever and a ton of people watching it had interest in it, including myself, But that was televised fully, Yeah, nothing. The public had a right to know, and the public has a right to know on every case, but something like this where it becomes so racially motivated, and it shouldn't. This had nothing to do with race. If this was a black kid that got stabbed by a white kid, I'm here as a white man saying that white kid needs to go to jail for thirty five years or whatever. Race hasn't played nothing into this. As a matter of fact, I do want to say this, that kid, the white kid. There's

24:59 some people in the in the community that were supporting all uh, that were supporting Carmelo Anthony that said or related to the fact that Austin Metcalf was racist. And let me tell you something. As a football player, and he was a football player, and his brother was a football player, ain't none of us racist? Why because we grew up playing with black people. Yeah, and as a white and that's right. And so that just never occurred to me in high school. I never thought it was a black white thing. I still don't to this day. And I think a lot of that was because I played sports with people of other races, not only black, Spanish people, Chinese people, you know, and it just never occurred.

25:46 And the fact that he played so many sports track football, that tells me that boy wasn't racist. No, and what's happening here is this, This is general. This is this is generational assumptions and bias being passed down generation to generation. Because young people today in school, I'm telling you I worked in these schools. Young people today, the friendship groups are wildly different than what they were back in the gap. Okay, black kids, white kids, you know a lot of mixed race families. You know, it's just not what it was. And so when we keep pushing this narrative that everything is inherently racist in some way, it's getting to be too much and it's taking away from true racism cases or true issues that involve racism, because not everything is just because two people are different races and on other sides of an issue doesn't change what the offense was.

Say black versus white, or we didn't even if we just said a teenage boy stabbed a teenage boy and you never even got to see them, this wouldn't even be black bowing up like it is. It'd be clearcut. It'd be a local stord, yeah, not a not a international state. Absolutely. So there you have it. There's no winners here. Two children, their parents, have lost them for a long time, and we need to recognize maybe we need to talk to our kids more, you know. All right, let's go right here to Saint Charles Parish, Louisiana. Where Okay, if you think getting a DWI is bad, this guy uh just leveled up as far as w OSCA. All right, a forty year old man was attacked by an alligator after entering a swamp to flee a DWI investigation. According to Louisiana State Police. The pursuit of a male suspect, which was later identified as Victor Reeves, began on June the seventh after troopers with Louisiana State Troop B Receives received reports of a Toyota Supra driving recklessly on inter State ten in Jefferson Parish. The vehicle was also said to have already struck a concrete barrier and sustained.

28:00 A tire blowout. So we've got a big uh emergency here on the roadway. So the troopers conducted a traffic stop after the super was observed traveling south on Interstate three ten, and as troopers spoke with REVS, they said that they observed signs of impairment. So during their DWI investigation. That's when Revs tore off running. He took off on foot and then he jumped from the elevated portion of Interstate three ten into a nearby swamp. With the help of deputies from the Saint Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, the troopers searched for Revs, who was later spotted walking along US Highway sixty one. Well. When law enforcement approached him, he fled again into the swampy area, where this time he was attacked by an alligator and sustained injuries to both arms. Despite his injuries, he continued fleeing before being located and apprehended with the assistance of a drone, so he was transported to a local hospital. He was treated for non life threatening injuries and the alligator, guys, this alligator was not injured. He was charged, not the alligator, but Ritas was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and resisting an officer and also faces charges of hit and run and careless operation.

29:13 And this has been foolish felons. Yeah, and I'm going to tell you the last thing you want to do when you're running from the cops is jump into a swamp in the Louisiana y'all, that is dumb. Look, there's so many alligators in the swampshall and I know a lot of you listening are from here, but there are so many now in today's times that and they slight them at millions, okay, in the millions that they are going to actually make it legal to get two alligator tags per year if you're a hunter of any type, because it is so out of control with the alligators. And to kill one though, you have to be in the If you've ever seen swamp people, you know, there's like a quarter sized area you have to shoot them to kill them.

29:58 Yeah, it's like right on the top of their head. Yeah, And so it is a major problem here. As a matter of fact, a little history lesson for you. Fifty years ago they were in dage of species species in Louisiana, which is why they're so out of control now. They actually made it illegal to hunt them for a long time. Then they said you can hunt them, but you've got to be a specific type of hunter, and you only get so many tags. And now there's millions of them, so you're getting dwis jumping in the swamp and you're getting apprehended by officer alligator. That's right, officer out. So the video is crazy. Yeah, we even have a law theft of alligator tags in Louisiana because they were so expensive and so you know, you got to have the tags. And so sometimes you see a lawng like, why the hell do we have that? Well, that was a prime example back then, but now you know, we're just overridden with them.

30:49 Yeah. Now they're gonna let anybody. Yeah, you know, you get two tags. Yeah, if you're a hunter. Now this is kind of story adjacent. But I got to tell you this. I was scrolling through TikTok yesterday and I's aw a video and y'all got to go look this up. But it was a Belgian MALINOI okay, so it's a police dog and he was let out to go chase this suspect. Over a bridge. You know, over a bridge. If you have ever in the movie seen the slow motion no when someone like jumps off a bridge, you know and like the heartbreaking moment, Oh my god, that malin woah when he said get him that dog was not joking. That dog full speed ahead. The guy jumps over the bridge and that dog just pa right over full fledge, jumped off a forty foot drop, hit the water below. I'm just saying, this guy jumped off a bridge. That dog jumped off the bridge chasing after that guy. So we got alligators down here. You can't be jumping off bridges down here.

31:45 Yeah, I wouldn't want to either want to attacking me just as bad as the alley. My daddy had a lab that he would throw a thing, you know, practice jumping to go get ducks or whatever. All he lived on the river down here. My daddy threw the dang bumper or whatever you want to call it, out in the water. The dog jumped out like he's done a million times to get the bumper, and a damn alligator took my dad's dog under. But later the dog popped back up like a few few seconds later, and he was missing part of his tail, but he left. So let that be lessons to you folks. Yeah, don't drink and drive and don't jump off into swamps. Well, we're gonna stay in Louisiana, and this time we're going to Saint Tammany Parish, beautiful part of Louisiana For those not from here, Saint Tammany Parish and especially where we're gonna be talking about with, which is Madisonville. I go there to eat all the time. Great place to eat right there on the water there.

32:35 Uh. But there's a sheriff there. His name is Randy Smith, and he turned himself in just this past week. He was booked into the ten Shipehoe Paris Jail on one count of second degree battery in two counts of disturbing the peace in connection with an alleged assault of a longtime local critic at a Madisonville restaurant. Now, according to the arrest warrant, which we're gonna cover with you, this incident occurred at Keith Young's Steakhouse. It's located in Madisonville. And the guy that the sheriff now not a sheriff's deputy, the sheriff for Andy Smith attacked is a podcaster by the name of Robert Bobby Couvian, and Bobby Couvion hosts a podcast called The Cougyon Show, and that's a part of the Louisiana Podcast Network. That's actually a company I have personally had some dealings with in the past, and his particular show on that network covers Louisiana politics primarily and local issues in the area of Saint Tammany Parish. Now, in all fairness to this, Cuvion has been a longtime vocal online podcast critic of Sheriff Randy Smith, just not a fan. He's accused Randy in his office of various issues over the years, many years. As a matter of fact, in twenty nineteen, the Saint Tammany Parish sheriff office arrested him on a misdemeanor cyberstalking charge unrelated to the Sheriff's office,

Recently, allegedly, cuvian criticized some things regarding the wife of the sheriff. Now evidently this is what she set the sheriff off. And this story continues to get more and more bizarre as the days go on. But you got to hear what this arrest warrant, how this arrest warrant reads. So I'm gonna read that to you, and it's a little bit lengthy, but it's very important that you get the context of this thing. So it starts off. It says, obviously this was written by an investigator for the LBI, which is the Louisiana the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, kind of like the FBI for Louisiana, and wey they.

That would be probably a little bit of bias there if you do that. To mention, would you want to be the cop that's having to write a report against your own sheriff? Because I don't know. I wouldn't either. So they the Attorney General's officers who overseas LBI, and so they basically said, hey, y'all can investigate this. When that's what they did, and they write a report and it says On May twenty ninth, twenty twenty six, at approximately four point thirty one pm, the Saint Tammany Emergency Communications Center received multiple nine one one calls recording a fight at kick Keith Young's Steakhouse.

35:38 Callers described an incident involving two male customers, with one individual placing another and a chokehold. The perpetrator was described as a white male, tall late fifties wearing a blue button up shirt and khaki her great pants. I bet they also said it's the sheriff, but we'll go with this. The victim, later identified as Robert Bobby Couvian, also called nine one one to report he had been attacked and requested medical services. Members of the Sheriff's Office Patrol Division responded to the scene and were advised while en route the incident involved an off duty law enforcement officer. I'm sure they were. Upon arrival, Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Deputy Ashley Carroll learned the suspect, identified as Randy Smith, Sheriff of Saint Tammany Parrish, had already left the scene.

36:29 Responding deputies interview multiple witness who identified Randall Smith as the individual who attacked him without provocation. Mister Cuvion stated, while he was seated at the bar with his wife, Smith approached him from behind, placed him in a chokehold, and then forcefully pulled him backward off of the elevated barstool, causing him to strike the left side of his head on the floor. Now while on the ground, according to Cuvion, he was punched and kicked in the face and body with boots. According to Cuvion, during the battery, Smith repeatedly threatened him, saying, I'm gonna kill you, you motherfucker. You're a dead motherfucker, and I'm quoting, so apologize for the language.

37:10 Multiple witnesses coroborated the Smith attacked from behind without any prior confrontation between the parties during the nature of the incident and the avoid any conflict of interest. As Kelly said, they transferred this to LBI. Now what's important here is it said that LBI showed up. They interview multiple witnesses and when they interviewed mister Cuvion and documented his injuries through photographs, they observed numerous injuries to his face. He look he got the shit beat out of him. There is no doubt about it. I'm talking major swelling to the left side of his face, his arms, he had bruises all over his legs from the kicks, etc. And mister Cuvian also mentioned, hey man, he kind of smelled like alcohol when he was on top of me. And he stated that he was in fear for his life after threats made by the sheriff, you know, in his position as sheriff. So Randal Smith had already left the scene prior to law enforcement arriving. And so they're interviewing all these people and they come up with an idea and they say, well, we want to see a receipt for what mister sheriff ordered. So that's what they get.

38:26 And the receipt was three hundred and forty six dollars and twenty one cents and that included the food and the bar tab. So further examination of that bar tab included five glasses of what's known as walking full wine. I haven't had that four happy hour Vika Martiniz, seven Tito's vodkas, one Tangkay and one Key Too one vodka. But it doesn't say how many people were at the table. He doesn't say how many people were at the table. Doesn't say that, But that's the receipt and that's what he paid for. Okay. During a review of the video, they could kind of see and coroborate everything that this witness had told them. Now, shortly after this, Randall Smith, who was seen in a clad button down shirt, wearing dark colored pants and a wristwatch, approached Kuvion from behind and did everything I just told you about. I'm not going to repeat that. So they get all this information and obviously they found Look, they had a freaking video, Yeah he did of all this that. There's no denying that this is what occurred. And there were people on the scene that said, hey, yeah, he was drinking. He was definitely feeling it, feeling it, you know what I'm saying.

39:42 Like he was drunk according to witnesses on the scene. So he gets arrested second degree battery, disturbing the piece by engaging in a fistic encounter. And incidentally, that second degree battery is a felony, it's not a misdemeanor. Also disturbing the piece by appearing in an intoxic conditioned. So they've got kind of proof that he was drinking them downe right, Okay, I don't think he drank everything on that receipt. Certainly some other people were drinking too, because he wouldn't have been able to walk. But there's no doubt they have him on video drinking because they wouldn't have this charge if they didn't. So I told you the story regarding the same Taminy Sheriff gets even crazier when I started this one, and in the next segment that I'm gonna do, I'm going to tell you why it gets a little crazier. But kJ, what do you think so far on this one?

Part of what happens when you become a public official is that you open yourself up to criticism, insults, all sorts of things, and the reality is they can be founded or unfounded. You can be accused of doing things that you didn't do. And where this thing gets off kilter, where this type of stuff happens is this. I don't believe that the podcaster was just being like an objective pundit and looking at issues and saying, oh, I don't think he chose that right or he chose that wrong. This got messy and he started directly insulting, attacking, and going after people that are not.

And this guy's been insulting his wife and he's like, my wife didn't sign up for this, this was not her job. And I think that he just got pissed off. The alcohol fueled it and he got tired of the bullshit and he went over there and he beat the brakes off the guy.

He has a First Amendment right. He may think whatever he said about this man's wife, and I think it was something insulting her weight. If I'm not mistaken and look as a regular everyday citizen, yeah I'm beating your ass if you say something about my wife like that, I get it. I get that, but I'm also not the sheriff. He took an oath. That oath is what to defend the law and his wife when he took his break. But his oath is a sheriff to defend the law. That was stupid. It was, it was dumb. He knows it was, absolutely, he knows it was. But if you know it was, then why you still sheriff? Why are you not resigning?

But I have a question here. Why did this guy think it appropriate this podcast or think it appropriate to go after the wife unless that's personal no, no, yeah, But my point is this. I think that he wanted this to take place so that he can win a lawsuit, and now it's coming. I think that it's you know, those First Amendments.

I think that it would be the best thing for him, because because anything he does now from this point forward, let's say he did remain sheriff, anything he does from this point forward is now going to be heavily scrutinized.

Yeah, he's going to get paid and get paid for.

So I just wanted to read you the statement that he released after this happened. So Ramble, the sheriff, he came out and he had a statement and it said this, I would like to begin by publicly expressing a heartfelt apology to the citizens of the parish. Notice it wasn't to the guy he beat up. This to the citizens of the Paris, the dedicated men and women of the Saint Tammany Sheriff's Office, the owner, staff and patrons of Young Steakhouse, and anyone else affected by this incident. To my family and especially my wife adel I apologize for the stress this caused them. By this situation, as an elected official and lifelong public servant, fully understand except the fact that with this position comes not only great responsibility, but also heightened public scrutiny. I understand and respect the actions I

I accepted this fact and when I put on the batch everything I just said, y'all, and I know that it is one of the unfortunate aspects of public service. For the past ten years, I have ignored hundreds of personal attacks directed at me as an individual who hides behind a computer screen. His actions were direct and intentional. As share if I have ignored the attacks, threats, and lies directed at me as a husband and father. They continue to worsen public harassment in my way wife, false statements against her, and the body shaming are not only despicable but unacceptable. Agree to one hundred percent. Seeing the frustration and pain caused by your wife and family is much harder to ignore. And closing, I would like to thank our friends, family, and the many citizens who have reached out with prayers, et cetera.

Got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of comments of people that I've never spoken to or meta day in my life. They were saying I was vile and I was a horrible person, and you know I should be you know, beat up or whatever. And you're like, damn, like, how could just what some moron says bark such? You know, such a response.

He was fatally stabbed Wednesday morning at his home in the Tarzana neighborhood in Los Angeles, and police have charged his girlfriend's forty four year old son with murder. Now Handy is now eighty one.

Well, he was eighty one and was found unconscious with a stab wound to the chest in the front yard of the residence where he lived with his longtime girlfriend, Wendy Gledhill. Now, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the nine one one call around nine thirty in the morning on June third, and the caller, later identified as Michael Gledhill, made a cryptic statement, this is kind of creepy. Quote, I am the son of man. I just killed the man of sin end. Quote. Now, before I even go further, before I even go further in this that statement alone, before I even knew the rest of this article, I went, oh, God, mental illness, because when people start bringing in religion and start talking like that, it just gives the total, you know, mental illness vibe. Well, flagged down responding officers and told them he was the person they were looking for, and he was taken into custody without incident. Now, the district Attorney, in a statement said, this is not how anyone's life should end. Stabbed in the chest and left dying in the front yard of a home. So Michael Gledhill, like I said, he's forty four, he's been charged with one kount of murder with a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon. If convicted, he's going to face up to twenty six years in prison, and he's being held on a two million dollar bail.

So both of these got you know, they're in they're elderly, and he lived at the home with his mother and had recently moved into a renovated garage space. So the reports indicate that Gledhill had been diagnosed with later onset schizophrenia that was in twenty twenty five, and he had stopped taking his medication about a week before the incident happened, and this made him become reportedly increasingly paranoid, very scary and very sad situation for families to be dealing with. I'm sure, but. The installed investigators that Handy and his girlfriend had felt threatened by glood Hill earlier in that year, though they noted that some improvement in his condition seemed to be arising around Memorial Day, and they said that the police said that this incident is isolated, there's no ongoing threat to the public. Now, Wendy Gludhill did tell NBC News, I love James. This should never have happened to him.

And you know, there's been several cases with these actors getting attacked by family members lately with mental illnesses. There was one recently that occurred in the same area. You know, one years old, live your whole life and you get attacked by by a family mamb But it really. Does open up a discussion here about you know, you're you're eighty years old, your girlfriend she's seventy six years old. You all these are elderly people, and what do you do when you have a forty something year old son who is a schizophrenic who uh you know, it's common that people with mental illness will stop.

They were still obviously caring for him, But what do you do because. Sounded like they were doing everything they came, they. Were trying, and they did feel threatened by him, and they're older. It's just very sad and it makes you really your heart hurt for people that have to deal with these types of family members that there's no clear cut answer or roadmap on how to keep yourself safe, but also love somebody. Right, you know, I agree. All right, Let's look, I told you when we covered the good Sheriff just a few minutes ago, that there was more to that story and then it would get a little crazier, and it did on Gene eighth when a guy by the name of Gregory Saraje gets arrested. Now, Gregory was with the sheriff this day at the bar, and he's also a bail bondsman. That's what he does. Yeah, that's he's a very popular bail bondsman in Saint Tammany Parish.

57:55 It makes sense because y'all are always in the same circles. You know they're trying to But I still didn't that bail bondsman and sheriffs hung out. Well, think about it, I mean you, I mean they're like boys. So I mean they're always up in the jail saying anything's wrong with it. It's just kind of like it's the opposite of what you would think, right, I gain, Well, bail bondsman gets people out of jail, the sheriff puts them in jail. Well, I know, I wouldn't think they would be hanging out together. I know. I'm just saying, I know prosecutors that are really good friends with their defense, no doubt. It just seems strange. But anyway, he gets arrested, y'all. And you may be saying, well, why did mister Gregory get arrested? Well, luck would have it, I happened to have the arrest warrant for him as well, and he was also arrested by LBI. And I'm just gonna review that with you quickly. They go over, you know, basically the same facts that I've already covered with you regarding that fight. Now, it says get this during a review of the video that they reviewed of this fight. A white male with gray hair wearing a black T shirt and white shorts, later identified as Gregory Saraj. He walks past Cuvian who was seated at the bar, and he points to him while facing the direction of Sheriff Randal Smith, just before pounding his fist together in an aggressive, suggestive maner.

So Shortly after that is when Sheriff Randall Smith attacked. Now here's what's interesting about this whole thing, because I'm not going to read the whole the whole arrest warrant, but I will read you what he was arrested for because it kind of surprised me. He was arrested for principal to second degree battery. So he's essentially arrested for pointing out the individual in the restaurant. He pointed and you know, basically making it suggestive pounding of his fist into his hand. I didn't even know that was against So you can point someone out and if your dumb friend gets up at that point. I'm not calling the chef dumb, but he was drunk at the time and not in his right mind. If you point them out, you're considered instigating that fight, and you can get arrested and considered a principle. So he is not only a charge, it seems like it would be okay, misdemeanor.

That's ridiculous. First of all, if I'm the sheriff, I'd be like, look, this dude can't make me. Do you're insinuating this guy had control he put a hit. Yeah, literally, like I had to do what he said. I did that because I wanted to do that, because he pointed him out and said, there he is, smash him. I mean, these are Look this guy's these aren't young cats. I mean, this guy right here, I'm trying to see it. Don't show his age.

I mean, obviously, like I said, we're speaking off the cuff here. There might be more to the element of the law that, you know whatever. But I just find that, just like person to person to be kind of stupid, but there's a law against it.

Chatterbait heard of that. I'm googling it now. So according to I happen to know what this is, but not because I have experience with it. I just do a lot of research on these things. And it's actually like a live platform where people whack off on camera and shit, well, I goggled it.

So, according to court documents, the women were allegedly forced to work in long hours producing explicit content while having their earnings controlled by the suspect. This past Thursday morning, Bellevue police as executed a search warrant at a large rental home described as a mansion. Officers arrested Nikita to Klio, I'm sure I'm calling to Nikita Te who is twenty one during the operation. He is being held in the King County Jail on a five million dollar bond in faces investigation for human trafficking, money laundering, and in leading organized crime. The rate came after months of complaints from neighbors about loud parties, heavy traffic, and large crowds, sometimes hundreds of people that promoted on social media. Court documents detailed disturbing allegations from multiple women who lived at and were brought to the property. Some of those allegations said that women were recruited with promises of earning a high income from OnlyFans and similar platforms. Once involved, they allegedly had their accounts controlled by this guy. They reportedly were locked out of their accounts and did not received most of the money they earned. Victims were required to work

Some women were reported being threatened, beaten, or restrained when they tried to leave. One victim allegedly described being forced to crawl on the floor like a dog at gunpoint. After speaking with other men, Police said the operation involved financial exploitation, with earnings allegedly funneled through the organization while the women were left with a little nothing. During the search, detectives recovered over three hundred cell phones. Three hundred that's like a freaking Apple store. Yeah, more than fifty laptops, a notebook containing women's names in like an earnings record, a white board outlining a quote content plan. Well, at least they were organized, financial records, multiple luxury vehicles, and the property had gained a reputation in the area as a party house in content creation Hub. Neighbors reported does sturbances frequently.

I guess that they think are good looking or have good advice, but they pay for this service to help them improve their physical appearance or what will make them look good on camera or whatever. But according to a probable cause affidavit, a girlfriend of eighteen year old Mason Hall was looking through his phone when she allegedly found links to child sexual abuse material, as well as purported evidence that he was selling those images.

So authorities found that he had photos and videos of girls ages six to ten and they were being forced into sexual situations with adult men. Well yeah, last name's Hume, so it's got to be hello all right on TikTok and he had three hundred and fifty thousand subscribers as a looksmaxer, and so the accounts now been made private. But he allegedly told interviewers that he sought out child sexual abuse material because he quote or not quote, but he allegedly wanted to try something new.

She's a former teacher at Alexander High School in Douglasville, Georgia, which is a suburb west of Atlanta, and she now faces additional charges that she forced a female student to watch the erotic film Fifty Shades of Gray and discuss sexual topics with her, while also sending explicit text messages to multiple male students describing graphic sexual acts and her preferences for violent encounters. It's released the same day forty thousand dollars bond, the school system launches an investigation. Parents are notified all those sorts of things, and on May third, they discovered that she allegedly had sex with a male student in the backseat of the truck on a golf course. Of course, why wouldn't you do that? Sure she Then allegedly they also discovered she made a female student watch Fifty Shades of Great later talked about her about talked with her about different types of female anatomy. So Nichols allegedly sent creed text messages to at least three different males.

These new details painted and even more trouble. And this is look you're telling that to your spouse you've been married to twenty five years. That's one thing. So her mugshot is in nowhere indicative of what she actually looks like on campus. She was very beautiful actually in her school photo. But this is the thing, This is a predator. I don't care that she is young, I don't care that she is female. That is a predator.

And I take offense to it too, because as a mother and as a teacher who worked very hard to try to be a good role model for kids, and you got idiots like this that come up in there and start sleeping with them.

A fifty six year old man was shot and killed Friday night during a pre arranged child custody exchange at an apartment complex which is along Tiger Ben Road in East Baton Rouge Parish. According to the Sheriff's office, Alex Wilson arrived at the apartment around eight pm to pick up his child from his ex wife, and during the exchange, Wilson became involved in a verbal altercation with Marcus Jackson, who's forty four years old and he was the current boyfriend of Wilson's ex wife. So investigators say Jackson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Wilson multiple times, and Wilson was transported to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries. But Jackson fled the scene after the shooting, and detectives from the Sheriff's office were working with losing a State Police Fugitive Task Force to track him down, and they found him in the Laplace area because of some surveillance footage is where they've located him, but.

So they're continuing their investigation and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Uh, the father, but you don't even bring a gun if you think it might escalate to that, Like, you just stay out of it, and the kid is going to be the one to suffer, just again, you know.
